I just heard about it. It is like a cross between Craigslist and a local Facebook for neighbor hoods and neighbors to get to know one another and help each other and or warn each other about local issues.

I'm in a group for neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. There is a lot of discussion about local issues, events happening, yard sales, crime and safety and so on. It is pretty useful I find. There no meet-up ads except for local and public events.

I've been in a neighborhood group for awhile. It came in useful getting a manufacturer in the neighborhood to put up some sound deadening walls. They had been skirting laws and we got together as a group and recorded what they were doing and presented it to city council. They got a huge fine and had to put up the walls.

Nice.

There is a warning on mine about a couple of guys casing the area I am keeping my eye on.

We as a neighborhood, really wouldn't have had any way to communicate like that before nextdoor. I've also seen many cats and dogs get returned to their owners with it. It's worth joining, but they do flood your email.

I've been on it for several years.

It's pretty useful. You can opt out of the excessive emails, although it's tricky.

A recent article I read somewhere else says one of the top things people use it to complain about is dog poop.

We've been on ours for years as well.

It might not be the exact same website -- but same concept.

We got a $125 extension cord for only $20!!!

Also -- it is good to help find contractors in your area that won't rip you off.

And -- the general neighborhood gossip...

Not to alter your thread too much -- but if you have a RING doorbell -- you can see videos from your neighbors RING bells (they post them) -- to see general nuisance and other interesting things going on!!!

:):):)

I signed up 2 or 3 years ago. But there was nobody else in my neighborhood. Of course i was encouraged to contact neighbors and get them interested. I wasn't interested in doing that. A couple of times since then someone else has signed up and I started getting emails again indicating they need a certain number of members (maybe it was 8 or 10). But after 2 or 3 months there still were not enough. The last time, someone had drawn (selected) the whole town (pop is about 5,800 not counting college students). I'm not interest in that large of a "neighborhood." Might as well use a Facebook group.

What I like about the concept was that if you needed to borrow some item from a neighbor like an extension ladder or some power tool you could post something and see if anyone was willing to loan you the item.

Yup...just recently joined.

A bit of neighbors complaining but everyone also is pretty good about informing others of crime and problems as well as things happening that affect our area.

Just like any social media, it is only as goos as the participants make it to be.
