Trent Reznor's music is always amazing. I'm looking forward to this release. I have listened to the entire album just now. This album does not disappoint. It's the album I imagined With Teeth would sound like and much more (I did enjoy with teeth as well). It's going to be one of favorite releases this year. Will be listening to the album stream until I get my hands on a physical copy of the album. Talk about the album and Nine Inch Nails in general. I know I can't be the only fan here on this board or can I ?????? Almost forgot to post the link to stream the album, here it is:

I loved With Teeth, it is my fave NIN album.

Can't wait for Year Zero coz i'm going to see NIN live in may!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Year Zero has made me go into NIN music listening mode. Went back and listened to a good portion of my collection of halos. I don't ever go to long without listening to NIN but I have not really listened to much lately. Revisiting "Broken" is always fun, such an aggressive ep. "With Teeth" didn't have much staying power for me after a few mouths of listening following its release. Went back and I think "Right Where It Belongs" is the best track on there, love it. My NIN album list from favorite to least favorite right now are:
The Fragile
The Downward Spiral
Year Zero
Broken "ep"
Still
Pretty Hate Machine
With Teeth

Big NIN fan here!..| :=D:
I'm a bit leary about giving my e-mail address to listen to the file though!
what's the catch?????
Anyway here are my favs

Pretty Hate Machine...first and still the best

The Downward Spiral......reminds me of my first love

With Teeth.....some really good songs on it

And All That Could Have Been......I'll probably never see them live so this is the next best thing

The Fragile...2 disc sets tend to get repetitive but i liked most of the songs

I hope Year Zero is great. I never got around to With Teeth because it sounded very mainstream to me. I'll have to check it out. The Downward Spiral is definitely classic shit!!!! I've always loved that album.

It's possibly just for the NIN mailing list. I'm already on the mailing list and updates are far and inbetween. I would not worry. This album is growing on me really fast. I'm enjoying listening the stream of the album.:-)

i also have the cd......and wow...its fucking awesome......how can pretty hate machine be your second least favorite, its fucking awesome.......so far my fav songs are capital g, and god given......and my violent heart..... the whole cd is just fucking awesome, and i cant wait for the real cd. i also cant wait till the tour in the us again....want to see them so bad.

on hands and knees
we crawl
you can not stop us all
our bones, our skin
we will not let you win......

I've been a fan since the first album was released. I still remember buying Downward Spiral on release day.

Loved it.

Still do.

He's sure matured a lot, but the albums are never boring.

If it was the younger me I would say that "Pretty Hate Machine" was the best thing I ever heard. I felt this way when I was young and got this album. I've become a bit more objective now. It does have some good songs, but as a whole album not as great as say "The Downward Spiral."

I remember buying it on the day of release as well. Time sure has past but it sounds as fresh today as it did when I first bought it.

Not sure about the new album, though.

I've listened to it a bunch of times and it's just kinda sitting there for me.

Of course, your list confuses me too. Pretty Hate Machine and With Teeth were among my favorites and Fragile I thought was twice as long as it should have been with WAY too much farting around. It just kinda sounded like a whole lot of unfinished demos.

I guess it comes down to personal preference of music. I want to type a bit about each record and what I like about them.

The Fragile - The most epic sounding NIN record to me. I’m glad Trent was not trying to make another Downward Spiral. I love everything about it. The instrumentals are my favorite thing about the record. They complement the songs with lyrics. Sure some argue it has too many songs and had it be condensed to a single disc it would sound better, I disagree. I had to really just invest myself in the record for a while to just get what it was that Trent was trying to present. I go back and listen to it and hear something I missed before.

The Downward Spiral - Trent’s masterpiece. What can I say about this record that has not been already said about it. The songs flow so well with each other. Groundbreaking record. I enjoy every song on it.

Year Zero - It’s like Trent took the best elements from With Teeth and made much more better songs. The songs are abrasive sounding yet still have the straightforward rock song feeling to them. More added layers help the songs. When I finished listen to it the first time I found myself wanting more. I was not at all bored by the songs. Since this record is part one of two records Trent is presenting, I can’t wait to hear part 2!

Broken - Abrasive, fast, and to the point. A precursor to what was to come. This ep made me want more.
I got that with the release of the downward spiral.

Still - I like the deconstructed and stripped down set up of the songs. The instrumentals are a real treat. “And All That Could Have Been” is one amazing song. I included this ep because I feel it belongs and should deserve some recognition.

Pretty Hate Machine - Has great songs like Sin, The Only Time, Something I Can Never Have, Head Like a Hole, Terrible Lie. Does not flow as well, sounds too dated. As an album it’s a mess. Not Trent’s best work but wont fault him, it was his first album.

With Teeth - After the Fragile to release this was a bit of a shock to me. I understand that Trent wanted to make the straight forward rock record, but it was just too bland and boring for me. It’s lacking something in the tracks. The least listened to NIN record for me. “Right Where it Belongs” is probably the best song on it. I really like the way some of the songs are presented live to the one’s recorded on the record.

I've heard a few of the Year Zero songs. So far I like "Survivalism" and "My Violent Heart."

the downward spiral is an amazing cd.......i can never get tired of listening to it......fav songs are heresy and ruiner........i really liked with teeth, wasnt their best, but i liked it a lot.

my list would have to be

the downward spiral
pretty hate machine
the fragile
year zero
with teeth

its really hard deciding which is better, but everything that Trent has come out with is just fucking amazing. not once have i been dissapointed with them, even their dvds are fucking amazing. beside you in time is just fucking wow. really want to see them live, evertime they tour shit comes up that stops me from being able to see them, or tickets sell out in like fucking 20 minutes

I recevied my copy of Year Zero on thursday in the mail. Great to have it a few days before release day. I just got around to listen to the cd in all it's cd quality glory today. Amazing! Now if my Survivalism cd singles and vinyl come in soon. Year Zero's artwork is really cool and this includes the cd which dones something "special."

Same here. I'll probably get a Mac at some point and then I'll be able to fiddle around with the song. Hopefully I won't forget about it by that time.

Anyway, I got the full album, and it's great. Highlights:
"The Beginning of the End"
"Survivalism"
"Capital G"
"Me, I'm Not"
"My Violent Heart"

Just got it today....

Been listening to it non stop....

Is it on the level of 'downward spiral' ? Of course not, nothing will ever be...

Is it on par with Trent's best work?....too early to tell....

From billboard:

Nine Inch Nails' sixth studio release, "Year Zero" (Nothing), enters at No. 2, selling 187,000 copies. As previously reported, its release was preceded by various guerilla marketing efforts to raise awareness of the album. First single "Survivalism," already peaked at No. 1 on the Modern Rock tally. NIN's prior album, 2005's "With Teeth," opened with 272,000.

Way to go Trent! This album just keeps growing on me.
