I have just watched the shocking stabbing of Sean Mcnamara. Is that the season finale? I looked up the web site and could not find answers.

Technically yes it was the season finale because of the writers strike, but season 5 actually will be comprised of 22 episodes so now we play the waiting game until we get the final 8 episodes.

What did everyone think of the season so far as a whole though? Has the show jumped the shark for you yet?

I thought it was pretty good but still have a lot of questions to be answered.
I still cant believe that the physchotic Dorleen Rose is played the same person who played sweet and lovable Debbie in QAF. Sharon Glass is a good actress.
It was also great to see some 80's starts guest star on the show eg: Donna Mills and Joan Van Arc

The season doesn't feel complete to me. Its been great having it out in LA, but it feels like not much has happened. And there wasn't much consistency in the story-lines because there was always so much going on.

We had Sean on Hearts and Scalpels, Christians jealousy, Julia and Olivia, evil but misunderstood Eden, Matt and Kimber, Matt and the burn victim, the weird patients (alien abduction, cannibals, rival Marylin lookalikes, crazy cat lady etc) Sean and the insecure actress, Christian becoming an escort, Eden poisoning Julia, Gina raising hell, Christian killing Gina, Eden vs. Kimber, and Sean's crazy 'manager' who stuffs people, and Matt and his sister starts fucking. And I'm sure there's a lot I forgot.
It was entertaining, but it was all over the place.

I heard that the remaining nine episodes will air in the summer.

I actually haven't liked the direction the series has taken this season. The first couple of episodes were really strong but they started getting terrible fast (remember the one that was essentially a pilot a for a bad reality show?)

I liked previous seasons that were the wacky surgeries and wild personal lives of the characters but still were relatively focused on one major storyline (ie Ava the man, the carver)

I was gagging at the finale, It was great. I started watching the last two seasons and I can't believe anyone thought the show has gone down. This show is a scandal!

I agree. The beginning of the season was strong. I was disappointed when Julia came out to LA (it was such a forced scenario and I hate when characters instantly turn gay as if sexuality could be switched on and off). Bringing Matt and Kimber back was also a bad mistake. I liked when the show felt like it was going to be a deeper exploration of Christian and Sean's relationship and how they coped with a whole new level of shallowness.

In a way I'm glad the Writer's Strike shortened this season, hopefully they'll see that viewers are defecting (ratings are down season to season) and they refocus.

I agree! This show this season is bad! Since they brought it to LA it's gotten very bad. Sharon Gless's character is so ridiculous. When she killed the guy by stuffing his mouth was so over the top. Stupid! I hope the writing improves.

I hope they de-lesbian Julia. Making her a bi-sexual is hard to accept. Julia was quite a strong woman in past seasons.
