okay so some of you know that i told my dad that i was gay. The ONLY thing who confused me is that when i told i jerk off to guy's he had no reaction that's what i don't understand? do you think i should talk to my dad about this? I mean if you find out that a son would jerk off to guy's he would have been like furious right?
 
Uh... Let me see if I understood it properly: you told your dad you are gay and you expected him to get angry/mad/furious at you?

I guess that he acted the way most guys would love their parents to act, but they don't! Why are you so confused? Just because it wasn't such a big problem to him that you're attracted to men?

In fact, it seems that YOU are more uncomfortable with the fact that you like guys than he is.

wait, you told him you jerk off to guys? or you mean you just said you were gay lol? i'd be a little speechless if my son told me he "jerks off to guys" lol, it'd just be a lot to take in if it was presented to me that way for the first time.

anyways, i had 1 friend who had zero reaction when i told everyone. everyone else reacted. anyways, this guy said nothing, nothing at all. i thought it was very odd. (i mean NOTHING, not even 1 word on the matter) anyways, i wasn't sure if he cared so little that he thought it best to not give any attention to it, or whether he had a serious issue with it. i wasn't sure what to think for a month or two to be honest, but as we hung out it seemed as if nothing at all was different between us... so i mean... it could be nothing at all.

well yeah since i told him that i'm gay i guess it was a good time that i'm jerking off to guys... but do you think it's was kind of awkward? maybe i should've have wait to tell him that?
 
It's too much information. Telling a parent you're gay is sufficient. It's not necessary to get graphic regarding sexual preferences, unless they ask and you want to tell (both of which are very rare).

I agree. Maybe your dad just needs time to process this new information in his head. Give him time and do not press on it with him.

Yep. Gay men do the same stuff as straight dudes, but the equipment on the other end is different. Dad's a big boy, he can figure it out w/out you telling him. As others have said, he needs processing time.
 
um, I'm not quite sure how to react to this problem.... were you hoping for a bigger reaction to the fact that you're gay? Is it possible you're dealing with some internalized homophobia?

I had a friend who got angry when he was coming out and people weren't "Oh my god! You like guys! No way!" And talking to a professional really helped him through it.
 
sometimes we build it up to be so much, because we deal with it internally for years on end, that when we come out with it, and everyone's fine with it, it's an emotional let down.

if you came out to any friends, i'd say you need to actually talk about. it seems to me, that you need talk right now, and you need to talk about being gay, or liking guys, or whatever you want to call it. seek that out with a friend, or someone, if you only have your parents you can talk to, try and start a convo about it, and try not to be too "graphic" lol, they are your parents afterall.
