So this happened last night. The route from school to home or home to school consists of a total of 8 lights. Maybe 9. Amazing last night when I have to turn let at an intersection it's always red. But last night it was green arrow. Well started to turn yellow as I was turning.

And than from there on out. EVERY LIGHT WAS GREEN. I did not even get a yellow. It was freaking amazing.

The time it takes me to get to school is generally 25 minutes because of traffic. Coming home it's usually 15 minutes because of some red lights and it being less busy at night. But last night I clocked it and I got home in 6 MINUTES!. All because no red lights.

That was so awesome. And I wasn't speeding either. Has anyone ever had some miraculous driving experience when there was NOT A SINGLE RED LIGHT. It's just so cool for it to happen.

Even though it will probably never happen again..

I thought this thread would be about prostitution.

If you have flashing lights and a siren it doesn't matter what colour the light is.

Most of the lights around me are such fast changers, with a lot of them timed for only about 30 seconds, it is damn near impossible not to hit a single red light ... even on the main roads.

that is so cool, i always wish they had a way to make the lights green if there is no traffic coming from the other direction. The Gods were smiling on you that night.

While that is true MystikWizard. And I do know some places where it is IMPOSSIBLE not to get a red light. Depending on the area it might be possible to pull it off at some places. My area really isn't that busy. But becuase of the shopping mall, best buy and target around it the true cause of traffic is people turning and holding up others. And since there is so much around it's easy to block people by waiting to turn. That and it's near the highway T_T"

Gods were smiling on me that night. Haha I don't think so. But really. Has this never happened to anyone else? Regardless of the year it happened.

Don't some cities synchronize their lights so that traffic flows better?

I think in some places they use something like cameras that sense how many people are at the traffic lights and the more people there are the faster the green man eats his sandwich.

Is there really some little man watching the traffic flow that controls the lights in bigger cities?

I assumed they were all automated, unless they needed to change them for a specific reason of course.

As far as I know, ALL cities synchronize their lights so that traffic flows better. :)

There is a man watching but he isn't concerned about the lights ;)

A number of cities sync their traffic signals; some are routed through some pretty sophisticated computerized management systems. I was just in Oakland County, Michigan and their center is like NASA. A number of others are moving towards that because when coordinated, traffic flows more smoothly; gas is consumed at a lower rate; road capacity is actually expanded (without the hassle of building more lanes).

I think the lights just saw your smiling face and changed to make it smile even more!

Or make that first move and maybe it will happen every time.

Well that one interesection where I turn left is pretty fucking bullshit.

I missed the green arrow tonight but I waited at the light. After a few cars passed. There were NO CARS coming from any direction. For like 5 minutes it was COMPLETELY empty. But the stupid arrow was still red. There was tons of cars coming from one direction after a while though. But they were so far back from the light but it still did not change. Someone did come and pass through the intersection and it was still red.

Than after the cars reached from all sides and all cars had stopped than after some cars went it finally let me go.

I don't think all lights are on sensors or synced.

I do like that idea though. I do know that recently they added lights to the interstate ramps. So during certain parts of the day you might get stopped by a red light and have to wait before you can go on to the interstate. I don't know what time during the day the lights are on though. I have only seem them on once when I was driving with my dad.

But there are tons of lights I know of that have no sensors at all and you have to wait for so long and it gets annoying after a while.

I wonder if weather can mess up the sensors or the syncing.

Aww. Well thank you Wiz. Maybe it was that. But I don't think it will ever happen again >_>"

I don't know if it's true anymore, but one used to be able to drive west on Washington Street right through the center of downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana...and very often not get caught by even one red light in the entire city limits. There were probably 20 or 25 lights along that route.

Good synchronization - but, in your cast gdude, it sounds like you took a route with a number of turns, which throws off even the best timing.
