No Red Lights

I don't know if it's true anymore, but one used to be able to drive west on Washington Street right through the center of downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana...and very often not get caught by even one red light in the entire city limits. There were probably 20 or 25 lights along that route.

Good synchronization - but, in your cast gdude, it sounds like you took a route with a number of turns, which throws off even the best timing.

Are you serious?

Wow that's awesome.

Well this was extreme luck. Because I was driving through a busy area. It was less busy last night though and busier tonight though. Odd how it was less busy last night around 11 and around 11:20 tonight it was even busier.

I have to turn regardless though to get home.

Although going to my Sir's from my home for about 14 lights it is directly straight until I turn at kroger. I have gotten very close to getting all green lights with that route. Only at night though. Never during the day.

I think in some places they use something like cameras that sense how many people are at the traffic lights and the more people there are the faster the green man eats his sandwich.

You are talking about the small White object they place on the poles, that points down at the road. Those are actually infrared sensors and yeah, they pretty much sense when to change the light. They are typically positioned on the "B" road with less traffic, as well as any lane that gets an arrow.

They will change the light instantly in most cases, during non-peak hours. But during day hours with regular traffic, they basically operate on a timer, and then when the time allotted is up on the "A" road, it will then activate to sense if any vehicles are present on the less-traveled "B" road. If it doesn't sense any vehicles, the cycle will just reset itself and the light will stay green on the "A" road.

A concern of mine when they were installing these in my state of Maryland a few years back, was what impact weather may have on the sensors, and precipitation blocking the sensor.

I think this is an example of how government can help conservation and the environment

Get all traffic lights in sync.

At night, set all arterial roads at blinking yellow, cross streets at blinking red. Even in my "liberal paradise" this isn't done. After all, government makes money from fuel taxes...

More roundabouts seem to be popping up in my state of Maryland all the time. If it proves successful with various intersections, this may prove to be an interesting and more cost-effective alternative where applicable.

I thought Americans were scared of roundabouts? I love them. They plant pretty flowers in the middle and they are fun to drive around.

That's my concern too. Like if there's lots of snow, heavy rain, heavy winds, or something else.

Yeah my dad said roundabouts are scary. I only know of one but it's not really that scary or hard. He said things like, "You gotta be REALLY careful cause someone might be coming from the other side and you gotta wait.

I don't have geometrical fears. Only fears of numbers >.>

But I have seen some people who are really bad with round abouts and dont know what to do with them.

Does it even talk about round abouts in the drivers ed book. I wonder how new those are.

It's been GREAT driving. I have only had to fill for gas twice. I've gotten lost many times too and have ended up exploring east, west, south, and north of georgia. It's hard cause I'm not allowed on the highway yet. So I have to come up with routes to avoid the highway.

It's really fun going to eat taco bell at like 2 am too :D

Gas isn't too expensive for me too. I think I have a little over 16 gallons of gas. I need to check the manual.
