He is 18 and I assume he consented so I am OK with the porn part...I have to admit the mother part feels creepy to me too. If it was a father talking his 18 year old daughter into having unprotected sex to "help the family" there would be a lot more people who would think it is creepy.

But nobody ever does that to anyone who is of legal age, male or female. It's something they choose to do. People need to take responsibility for their own actions. They're not victims.

No one disagrees he has the RIGHT to do it.

Saying it should be applauded that he felt like he had to do it because of financial necessity is a completely different subject.

Hopefully i would manage to provide for my family, not that i plan on having one, but if i couldn't and they needed money for Uni or whatever, i'd rather they did porn than work in some fast food joint.

It's the stupid forum bug. And then you can't even repost it because it will just update the post that went up 3 posts. Ugh.

In any event, I don't think he did anything wrong, but I think we need to separate the fact that we're all here because we enjoy porn from saying "oh it's great that his mom talked to him about bareback porn for money and supported it" or that it's great that he went and did bareback porn because his family was in tough financial straits. That's actually pretty sad, not something positive.

It is "creepy" in the sense that most of us (well, people in general) are not used to the thought of a mother and son (can be generalized into parent and child, if you will) talking about getting into the pornography business. However, since we don't know what really happened...it could have been the son wanting to do porn to help out the family, and since he has an open relationship with his mom, approached his mom about it. They probably had a discussion and his mother was okay with it. That idea is likely less creepy than the mother approaching the son with the idea. Again, we don't know.

I am not at all comfortable with his mother seeming to push him into porn but at the end of the day he is 18 and thus allowed to make his own choices.

I would not characterize it as "liberal" for a parent to happily support potentially dangerous work their child was undertaking for the sole reason that the parent was having money troubles. Most good parents who cared about their children would be ashamed of that situation.

You act like this is just some kid who had a lifelong dream to be in porn and his mother supported it. That's not what the story at all implies.

I have to be honest... I didn't read that far into the details.

I'm not really sure I care what his reasoning was. He was of legal age, and a free man to do what he chose.

My major eye roll to this story is the morality police of the schools determining HE was the bad guy here.

Ironic that someone would have had to watch the porn in order to recognize him. Watching is ok, and performing isn't?

I'm reserving judgement momentarily because there was a point made that during the bullying he was said to have made threats about bringing guns to school. If he had made the choice to make that kind of threat instead of seeking help from teachers for the bullying, then yes, they were right to suspend. If that all turns out to be false.... then the suspension seems out of line.

No matter what kind of bullying is happening, it is NEVER OK to threaten gun violence instead of seeking adult intervention. In any case the Bullies should also have been punished. None of the reports I've seen mention one way or the other, they are all too focused on just one part of the overall issue here.

I wonder how many 18yo men and women have turned to the military with hopes of sending some money back home and/or financing further education - or even just to have a place to live.

And, I wonder how many of these men and women are pushed into the military by their parents, clergy, school advisors, etc.

And then, I have to wonder how many parents would prefer to have their kid getting his brownies packed on film rather than to have him shipped back to them in a box.

Good parents typically don't want either of those choices for their kids. I feel very comfortable in saying gay-for-pay bareback actor or casualty of war don't make the top 10 list of what parents hope for the future of their kids.

That all could be explained by the heavy pressure leveraged against them. I'm still waiting until the whole story is available to make any decision on who is most at fault, but for now I will say all three sides had at least a small part to play in the overall issue leading up to this.
