Noel from Sean Cody suspended from High School

He'll be an icon? I'm not sure "any college" would love to have a gay bareback bottom as an icon at their school.
That being said, I think this is being overblown.

You obviously missed the substance of my post with regards to civil rights.

That's all well and good. But realistically it will not be perceived as a "civil right" no matter the result.
Just my opinion.

Watching everyone come down on Sean Cody is hilarious, especially when their ads frequent the site on a regular.

Everyone wants to be moral now, but don't ever think of the stories of these men when they're busy stroking.

Again, I don't watch porn. When I masturbate, I masturbate to stories. I know, I'm like a woman. But trust me, the things I get off on can't be done by porn.

Anyway, the point is I can't really say I'll never buy Sean Cody because I don't buy it anyway. That said, shame on them for taking advantage of high schoolers.

I'm very disturbed by this story because it hits home. My boyfriend was kicked out when he was 15. He ultimately did not end up selling himself, but he could very easily have. He's told me stories about how recruiters on grindr and other gay hook up sites pretending to hook up and then try to get him to do porn with them. Yes, they do that. They would scour the hookup sites, find potential porn stars, message them telling them they want to hook up, meet, and then try to get them to do a video for some money. It happens all the time.

Why do you think I got my bf to quit work at a warehouse and support him to go to school? Sure, I could have gotten him to keep working there and pay half the mortgage. Or even better yet, push him to do porn. There are recruiters in my area.

Don't get me wrong. I've nothing against porn. But it has to be completely voluntary. That means no coercion or financial pressure.

One thing I want to comment on as well...

The kid is eighteen. Eighteen may be considered a legal adult, but eighteen year olds don't know the consequences of their actions. In fact, studies have shown that the human brain is still developing well into your twenties.

I'm all for people doing porn if they consent to it, but I really hope the kid realizes that unprotected sex is not the way forward, all that's going to do is get him some life long condition like HIV or Hepatitis.

Hope you don't take offense, but id be careful about the wording. The way you talk about your boyfriend it sounds like he is some plaything under your control. "I got my bf to quit" - I'm guessing you mean convinced?
But then you say you could have gotten him to do something else?
Comes off as very controlling

You've used the phase "take responsibility" in almost every single post you've made.

I don't see you applying that to the parents of a kid whose family was so hard up he went to do bareback porn. So I question the integrity of your position.

I previously stated that he made this choice. I also said that he could've chosen to not support his mother. Nobody (especially a legal adult) has to support their parents, that's the parents' job. However, he is the one who is doing porn, not his parents. Like I said, I can understand why people would be uncomfortable or suspicious of his mother, but we don't know the whole story. So we shouldn't jump to conclusions. I'm referring to people who try to make "Noel" and other young (legal) models (male or female) out to be victims, when the reality is that (regardless of the circumstances) it's always a choice they make.

"Noel" is 18 years old. He is of legal age. If he gets infected with an STD or something, he is the one who did that to himself. His parents can't be blamed for that, as they're not legally responsible for him anymore. And if you think 18 is too young, then compain to the American legal system. Don't complain to Sean Cody and don't complain to his parents.

If he files a discrimination lawsuit and wins he'll be an icon. Any college would love to have him.
It'll be a token win at best. He'll be a hot potato. No college wants that kind of attention. Could hurt their enrollment.

Two reasons why they would. Colleges are unapologetically liberal, i.e. forgiving of a past that perhaps would not be amenable to older more conservative schools of thought, i.e. porn is not the moral failure it was in the past, and two, they are wary of appearing prejudiced if say one were to reject him. The effect of such a ruling as in the case of the common law system we have in the United States would be more than just a win for this young man. It would be precedent for scrutinizing all gay rights cases were he to win an education discrimination case, but there is already such precedent, which is why I think he could and should win.

I think the reason you're repeatedly making this argument is because you don't have a real one for what people are actually discussing.

Not a single person here has said he shouldn't have been allowed to do it. The concept of either applauding it, applauding the conditions that led him to his decision, or applauding his mother for approving of it are not at all qualified by "take responsibility, he's 18."

Discrimination against LGBTs in high school education is a huge problem that doesn't get talked about enough. GLAD is leading the nation in lawsuits for gay students, most prominently those who have unsuccessfully tried to establish gay-straight alliances or take their partners to their proms and the like.

I truly hope you're right. I'd hate to see his life ruined for such a stupid mistake. How about we keep an eye on this story and see where it goes?

I would not at all disagree that anti-gay sentiment was likely a significant part of the bullying he was targetted for after he was outed as a Sean Cody performer.

But I do think it's misguided to presume a comparable level of negative social reaction wouldn't have happened to an 18 year old heterosexual girl.

Yes THAT would be a highly desirable "icon". However we're talking about gay bareback porn. That is not something anyone wants to touch.

I guess we'll have to just disagree then. I am not, btw, endorsing bareback sex obviously.

Maybe he can get an athletic scholarship?

You talk to these actors (I know a few actors in Florida) and they will tell you it is physically exhausting, the "crabwalk" position especially, and shooting scenes goes on far longer than the final cut.
