Will be announced at the crack of dawn (go back to sleep, Whitney!) this upcoming Thursday, December 6! The show will be broadcast on CBS on Sunday, February 10.

In my most humblest of guesses, I think we'll be hearing these names called the most:

* Foo Fighters
* Daughtry
* Sugarland
* Prince
* Wilco
* Fergie
* Keith Urban
* Ludacris
* Bruce Springsteen & The E. Street Band
* Amy Winehouse

Might wanna throw in some Joss Stone, Beyonce, Rilo Kiley and Timbaland ... but after last year's Imogen Heap bid as Best New Artist, anything can happen so be expecting some surprises! What do you guys think we'll see as the major trend?!?!?

When Madonna was not nominated for Evita, and Evita was rejected BIG TIME by Oscar, she became a fav for Grammy. Sympathy counts.

My point is - Britney may get some recognition. I hope to see Colbie Caillat in the list too.

But the big fight may be between Rihanna and Beyonce, with Fergie walking away with the award.

Grammy does not use the calendar year but is very specific about the release dates to be considered. I have noticed in the past few years that sales and nominated artists don't always correlate as well as you might think.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Beyonce and Rihanna shut-out.

Fergie, who has had the best year ever for a female since Paula Abdul, is bound to get some Grammy love (although I'm not a fan of any of the aforementioned).

Fergie -and her one million hits she had in 2007, doesn't stand a chance against the Jonester.

Norah!

the grammy awards, like others, continue on a path to total irrelevancy. The National Academy of Arts & Sciences are nothing more than a poor outdated marketing tool for the “music industry”.

For years they’ve been accused of being out of step with true artistry but this seems to be more evident now than ever. Look at the nominees and winners in the past 50 years and you’ll see how many true influential musicians have been totally overlooked. Some of the technical awards may have validity but recent additions like the alternative and dance recordings are so out of touch they’re laughable.

Being a lifelong music lover, I was always very excited by the nominations and the actual awards show. Maybe I’m just getting older and feeling nostalgic. Funny thing is, the older I get, the more voracious my appetite for music becomes. And the more indifferent I’ve become to all the hype concerning these and most other awards.

I think people are taking this stuff way too seriously!

George Strait deserves some recognition in the country categories. He had 3 #1's on his last studio album and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

OMG I can't believe Christina got nominated. :eek: Twice!

Yes! But let's not get our hopes it because this wasn't quite her year. I don't think she'll get it for Pop Duo/Group because they like dumb songs (remember "My Humps" winning last year? Don't get me started...).

I think 'Big Girls Don't Cry' may win. But Christina outsings that bitch in her sleep!

^I don't think so. Isn't that Fergie's only nomination? I don't think Christina has a chance but I don't see Fergie winning either.

Christina deserves that award! She hasn't won that award twice for nothing! If anything, she should have been nominated twice for 'Candyman' and 'Hurt'!
