Is non-stick cookware coating dangerous in tiny amount in your food ?

I noticed the coating is starting to peel off and i'm 100% sure small amount of the coating is mixed with food during cooking.

if it is teflon .. get a new pan asap. not sure about other "Non-stick" coatings.

The word I'm hearing is all non stick coatings are bad. They never last that long anyway. Buy yourself a good cast iron skillet and it will last you the rest of your life. Glass is also safe but harder to take care of (clean).

+1 on the cast iron option.

There's also thermolon, but I believe there's silicone somewhere in the compound.

I wouldn't try to identify it. Just follow the advice here.

Time to go shopping for a new pan.

It most likely is teflon.

I'm scared of aluminium cookware. WHen the coating deteriorates, then I'm cooking on bare metal. yikes!

Go with cast Iron definitely. Get a cast iron with enamel coating for baking too..

I have no idea what material. It is non-stick coating for aluminum.

Be very afraid of aluminum cookware. Aluminum toxicity is a big problem and is believed to be associated with Alzheimer disease.

I realize Doctors come up with fifty things that will kill you and then fifty things they said would kill you but are good for you everyday. However I don't think it is a leap to figure out eating substances that are not normal for human beings can not be good for you. So I take the safe rather than sorry method. Cast iron when properly seasoned will last you your lifetime and your kids if you have them... so get something healthy and quality.

P.S. Glass cookware also does not leech anything... so get glass baking dishes too...

PTFE-Teflon coating are the most concerning ones. When they're exposed to extreme high temperatures they release vapors in such tiny amounts that they are still strong enough to kill pets. Most common pets that die from PTFE cookware coatings are large and small birds/parrots. Since I have parrots and other small pets, I make sure that cookware, microwaves, hair dryers, irons don't have PTFE coatings in them. Sometimes they're not labeled by the manufacturers.
