The church in my little home town (go Forty Fort United Methodist!! Woot woot!) is gay-friendly and actually appears on the National Registry of Gay Affirming Churches so not ALL pastors are bad. I grew up in the church and still attend when I'm home visiting. I love my Methodist Ladies!
 
How could anyone hit a 4 year old for anything? If this asshole thinks beating kids creates heterosexual children I sure as hope he doesn't have any himself.

You shouldn't REALLY hit them, just tell them God hates them and that they are "sinful and disgusting" and not worthy of being loved. Geeze Louise get with the program!

Damn Sam..... I see he's backpedaling on what he said. Telling a little kid God hates them is just as cruel as beating them.

This is what organized religion accomplishes; fear, hate, intolerance and it's not good. If you want to worship the God of your choice, don't to it with assholes like this.

I love how he gives the "OK" for girls to play sports, ("Play sports to the glory of God", - whatever that means...) But afterwards, parents are to make sure that their daughters "smell like girls". (As opposed to those acrid smelling lesbians, I suppose.) :roll:

And if you ask me, his flock - his congregation - didn't seem all that ill at ease. There were plenty of "amen's" , mixed with laughter and small rounds of applause.

But now, of course, he has apologized for the entire thing. After all, lots of people preach for 20 minutes on things they do not mean...

Anyway, why on earth would Christianity inspire tolerance the most of out all religions out there? It's an exclusive religion like Islam (and Judaism too?). They're rigid with set beliefs so not very likely to tolerate different beliefs.

Objectively speaking, it's one of our most beautiful states. (The river rafting alone is a *gorgeous* experience)

And while I know for a fact that there are some very kind-hearted people there, the voting populace has spoken.

It wouldn't break my heart if I never saw the place again, and I say that as someone who lives in Florida.

Why? That would just lengthen the day until we see this pathetic law removed.

Now if someone is in a position to get married or wants to have their partners status protected, then I could see leaving. However just being gay is not a reason to not live there.

I went to Catholic school where the nuns would whack you with a ruler for being left handed. Interestingly, the Latin for left handed is "sinister".
