North Korea Executes Uncle to Kim Jong-Un

So, has anyone noticed this latest tantrum from the North? The day after agreeing to allow family reunification visits, the North threatens to rip up the agreement due to the military exercises between South Korea and the United States. Ridiculous charade...

I caught that. My first thought was that the US should schedule exercises with South Korea, then with Japan, then with anyone else over there who has a navy and some sort of defense treaty with us -- one a month, every month . . . .
Heck, after running once or twice through all our allies, we could freak everyone out and invite Russia's Pacific fleet to conduct joint exercises aimed at cooperation responding to some regional natural disaster. I wonder how that would play in Kimland?

Well it seems to me that China is probably capable of getting rid of North Korea using conventional tactics and not much fuss, but that they don't do this because it's not in their interests. They know it would just reduce whatever scope of influence they do have in the Korean peninsula. Given the human cost of this policy, I don't know why South Korean allies prop it up, for the sake of giving China a bit of influence in a tawdry little hellhole. China talks about its rights to a sphere of influence and security: they need to make a bit of an effort now. If they can't put North Korea solidly on the same track to development seen in China within 5 years, say (btw, a path that would also lead to reunification), then they need to dispose of the Northern regime and hurry things along.

China doesn't even need to apply military force -- they could just ship in a dozen million Chinese "immigrants", and then absorb the place.

Considering everything N.K. does is for domestic consumption - I suspect that would hand them exactly what they want, proof that the world is out to invade N.K.

But given that without China their people would be starving and freezing, they'd have little choice. And of course China wouldn't do it all at once; they'd gift Kim with some huge public works project and send a few hundred thousand workers along, and then the workers and families just wouldn't go home . . . repeat as necessary.

I see no interest in the Kim regime other than self survival.

They aren't going to respond to sanctions or incentives, they never have, if you want change we're going to have to wait for them to implode - which will happen eventually, or outright military invasion.

Truly no one is safe in the savage hermit kingdom of North Korea. Long in government, Jang Song-thaek has been suppressed by execution.

Kim Jong Un is third generation ruler in the totalitarian dynasty well known for recklessly destabilizing the balance of powers in Asia and its mercurial attitude towards the US and her allies. Lesser known is the network of prison camps maintained by the regime where thousands of political dissidents and their families have been sentenced for life, the persistent poverty endured by North Koreans, and the deeply cryptic inner workings of the Kim government.

Chances are, either Kim freaked out and pulled the trigger, or Uncle Jang really got to close to the fire.

North Korea's Announcement That Kim Jong-Un's Uncle Has Been Executed Is Incredibly Vivid

Spoiler Alert!!!!! Kim Jong-Un was the third minion in Despicable Me 2.....
