OK. We get it.

You are anointing another short, pudgy reactionary nutcase to rule as Glorious Leader for the next 50 (ha ha) years.

You wiped off a couple of percentage points on my equities today on the Dow and TSX.

Get ready to die.

I've had enough of tin pot dictators shorting the market and then lobbing missiles.

I also notice that since FOX et al haven't found a way of making this Obama's fault, and Glenn Beck hasn't figured out how jewish puppet master Soros is behind this, it just hasn't caught the interest of the JUB Dem vs Repub provocateurs.

Kim Jong. I'm comin' for ya.

Yup. It is a shame that two South Korean soldiers died. I leave it to the world leaders to express my outrage at their murder.

But with countries at war with one another, death of soldiers can be expected. People forget that the armistice between north and south doesn't mean the war is actually over.

The reason for this incursion...just to prop up the cred of the next generation generalissimo is vastly annoying.

It makes me want to piss in his kimchee.

I am wondering if this is North Korea's way of attracting attention to themselves. Since Kim Jong il is feeble and about ready to hand over power to his son, Kim Jong-Un, they're getting themselves on the news. I'm sure the transition of power will be in name only as Kim Jong il will still be strong-arming everyone until he's cold in the ground. It's saber-rattling and I hope no one overreacts to turn into a full blown conflict again.

It's sad millions of people in North Korea have to suffer because of this maniacs megalomania. Billions of dollars wasted for monuments to themselves, an unneeded nuclear program, a million man army for a country of 24,000,000 while millions of people starve. They're either too brainwashed to realize or too frightened to say anything against their conditions.

I wonder if President Obama will try and buy peace by giving millions of dollars and technology to North Korea.

Has MSNBC found any way to blame Bush for this?

The 3am call came. How did Obama do?

(PS: Actually at 3:55am)

I don't know if they have, but it's possible that N Korea wouldn't be getting this frisky if the U.S. wasn't overextended both militarily and economically thanks to Bush.

OTOH, just one carrier group could flatten their military to impotency, so it's a doubtful argument.

My take on how S. Korea should react: for each attack from now on, don't just make a small attack, playing tit for tat, but flatten the military base the attack came from. If it didn't come from a military base, flatten the nearest one.

they were doing this shit in the 1990's and earlier as well, so it's probably got nothing to do with Iraq/Afghanistan.

it's pure saber rattling to strengthen Kim's power inside Korea, prop up his son as some kind of military savior (I don't doubt that the state-controlled newspapers are probably reporting this as some kind of valiant defense of the homeland by Kim Jong-un) while simultaneously blackmailing China and South Korea for increased shipments of food.

All the more reason to flatten the next base an attack comes from -- then drop packages with food, counterfeit N Korean money, toys, and messages from South Korea inviting the North to join them and send the Americans back home.

off topic:

Actually, they do. They refused to admit it until China admitted they had a problem. Officially, they still have none, just like Iran has no gays; unofficialy, they're trying to figure out how to deal with it, with a medical system not a heck of a lot advanced from the time of the Korean War.

Which brings me back to the topic: since the Korean War, the military technology of their chosen enemies has advanced some six decades. Theirs has advanced from between three and five, but the latter is rare. And their logistics haven't advanced at all: if they decided to actually attack the South, i.e. cross the DMZ, they'd have soldiers starving before they mounted an attack. They've got a million men, but if it came to real fighting, they'd surrender if the South just dropped sandwiches and promised more if they destroyed all their weapons. Their soldiers spend more time harvesting rice than they do training.

If I was the South, I'd be making sure I had enough cruise missiles to do a ripple attack right up the coast and take out all of the North's numerous shore-to-ship missile batteries. The North would panic, of course -- but when they started moving troops around, that would be the time for the food packages and the messages from "your brothers in the South". My propaganda message would be that the United States and others have kept the people divided, and it's time to reunite.

The fun part would be flying to D.C. and telling Obama to take his toys and go home.

I dunno. North Korea sure looks like a purdy place, don't it? The people look so happy and their Dear Leaders really care for them.

North Korea has enough weaponry pointed at Seoul to flatten it, even if they ultimately have no hope of winning a war.

I suspect that S Korea has the capacity to stop just about all of it, too. The question is not how much weaponry the North has, but how many launchers -- and if the North has built the launchers, I'm sure the South has built installations to counter them.

All I could think of this morning after the OP's quite well put "WTF", was the following prediction by VP Biden:

"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy," said Biden to a roomful of donors. "The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America."
"Remember I said it standing here, if you don't remember anything else I said," Biden continued. "Watch, we're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.
"I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's going happen. I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate."

Which was hemmed and hawed by so many loonies and to be honest Biden was a little off like most of the times he opens his mouth.

It is kinda amusing that N Korea was like .... "hmmmm we sank your ship and you had no big issue with it.... lets try bombing your army"

Weakness doesnt work in diplomacy. Just a quick lesson for all of those who bemoan our military and wanna just make happy with ebbybody...

Wonder if all those people Alfie deported to N Korea is where they are getting their ideas from????

Kulindahr, aids is caused by sexual freedom.

I don't think north Korea has any sexual freedom, hence no aids.

it's easy to say when it's not 10 million of your brothers and sisters and moms and dads living in the shadow of North Korea's guns and rockets.

True it is only 28000 of my brothers and sisters.... maybe make that 32500 here in the near future depending on how things go...

I don't think anybody wants Korean War II. However i think it wise that S Korea consider a measured response. Simply one of the N Korean vessels disappearing from existence would do the trick.

The bully down the street who takes your milk money day after day doesn't stop till you punch him in the nose.
