Nostalgia

parents of kids and teens from pre-school age to high school age are resorting to old fashioned landlines instead of letting their children have a smart phone. No apps, no social media, no texting; and, having to remember telephone numbers instead of consulting a "contact list"

No one could escape the Clackers television ads. Mom wanted to try this new cereal and bought a box.

Television stations got a flood of complaints about the ads, meanwhile unsold cereal piled up at stores.
The kids at school loved the commercials, try a few yourself:

So the cereal tasted like Graham Crackers and they show the kid putting sugar on it? Wow... I never ate a Graham Cracker and thought "this needs sugar!"

/\ Didn't they, at one time, sell Graham Crackers coated with sugar and cinnamon? Maybe they still do.

The failure of Clackers spurred General Mills to keep trying. And they nailed it in 1976 with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Golden Grahams.
Now you have a choice, cinnamon or honey graham, now that the taste and texture is right.

We have started watching a number of shows from the 60's on streaming when we have our supper in the living room. One is The Munsters...

Contemporaneous...and we are watching those too...as well as re-watching the movies and Wednesday....comfort television as a break from all the serious and high brow Brit TV we usually watch.
