Nostalgia

Another old time fave from my young days we are re-watching, when all other recorded television has dried up or we want some pure 1960's spyworld nostalgia.

I remember riding in a shopping cart holding a box of Twinkles and feeling so excited and happy.

Oh lordy - looks like an old Packard. Cool photo!!!
Yes, it's a Packard; and, usually driven by Lurch. Tim Burton departed from what had been shown in previous incarnations; and, went with a modified 1938 Pontiac Limosene

I had a 4 quart Revere Ware stock pot. It was too big for a box of Kraft mac & cheese, too small to cook spaghetti. So I gave it to hubby's sister. She had LOTS of Revere Ware and this pot was like the one piece she was missing. You'd think I gave her a new Lincoln Town Car.

I didn't like the pot much. It felt too thin. It was pretty. I got it from Joske's or Foley's. Some kind of "spend $x and get a free gift" deal. Ok, buy $60 worth of bedding and get a $45 pot? I'm cool.

It all worked out. She had her Revere Ware. When hubby's dad passed, she didn't want any of that old Salad Master stuff. That was bought in 1968 or '69. Which we happily brought home and with a bit of oven cleaner on the patio I made it look like new. Great stuff.

The only Twinkle I remember from childhood was the Cooper polish because copper bottomed cookware was sooo popular in the 50's and 60's.
I remember my mother using Twinkle, although on decorative items, not cookware. (She had no cookware with copper.) Wright's was her silver polish brand.

The one pan I had was pretty tarnished when I got it--although admittedly it was pretty old when it showed up at Goodwill.

I felt that way about the one sample I had, even though it was an older version that (allegedly) had a better copper layer.

I sometimes think it mgiht be fun to try an old Farberware pan, but I have a feeling I might come to the same conclusion with that.
