"What about you Uncle Joe. You should have the job of assistant not me." Ross said. "Don't worry I will have my hands full. My job is to make sure you and Brian do your jobs. Plus I will handle yours while you and Landon are on your Texas trips." Joe laughed. "When will all of this begin ?" Ross asked. "Well your job is as of now. As of right now you are the assistant ranch manager including the pay increase that comes with it. All the guys already know." Brian said. "So are we all on board ?" Carl asked. "What will you do Ms. Flo ?" Ross asked. "I will keep running the diner like I have until I decide to retire." she said. "Good." Ross said. "Oh honey you can't get rid of this old bat that easy." Flo laughed.
Ross, Landon, Ty, Mary and Max made quick work of cleaning the kitchen and putting the left overs away. Carl and Max stopped in at Flo's for lunch. "You two are a sight for sore eyes." Flo said. "It's always good to get away but it's even better to get back home." Carl said as he hugged Flo. "I am so thankful to you that you were at the theater the other night." Max said as he hugged Flo. "Honey it's been years since I have been that mad. It's a wonder I didn't give both them boys a limbing like they really needed." Flo said. "I am just glad that no one got hurt. " Carl said. "That little wormy bastard balled his fist up at me. When I saw the look in Ross' eyes I thought it was about to be a brawl." Flo said. "I am glad that didn't happen but I hope you would have gotten out of the way." Max said. "Out of the way ? What the hell for ? Ole Flo didn't get to be who she was by running from a fist." Flo laughed. "I'm scared of you." Max laughed. "Have you talked to the fathers yet ?" Flo asked. "No we had planned to but discussed it. Let them come to us." Carl said. "Oh they will. When I left my office I had two scared husbands and two very pissed off mamas." Flo said. "Your office ?" Carl asked. "Oh yes honey. You know Flo. She gets a handle on everything from the get go. I had both fathers in my office at ten o'clock the next morning. They definatly got my message." Flo said. "I am sure they did." Carl laughed.
Once the food was on the table Flo sat down to talk about Durk. "I think they are both happy with the treatment that he will recieve. It's not a cure since there is not one but it's hope for another year or two." Max said. "Now I know how I pull strings and get shit done but how in the hell did you get him in to see this doctor at Emory that no one can get in to see ?" Flo asked. As Carl and Max pulled in the drive headed to the barn they saw a tan Suburban in front of the barn. There were two ladies standing there talking to Daryl. As they got closer Carl could see the ladies. "Wait. That's those two boy's Moms." Carl said. Once out of the truck the introductions were done. "Alright ladies and gentleman. I have work to do." Both back doors opened and a young man stepped out of each side. Carl tensed up but once Max placed his hand on his side he seemed to calm. "They are here to apologize too." the second mother said. "They don't owe me and apology. They owe that to Ross and Landon." Carl said. "I agree but they owe it to you also for their total disrespect." the first Mom said. "We're sorry." both boys said. "I accept it I just wish I believed it." Carl said. "We brought them here because we wanted to offer their services here on the ranch for free to make up for what they did." the second mother said.
Max could tell that Carl was trying to think of the worst job on the ranch. "I appreciate the offer but we can not accept. We try to run a peaceful ranch here. I can not allow this type poison to be introduced with our workers. Most are not gay but they are very protective of us that are. The ranch hands consider both Ross and Landon their little brothers. I just thank God every minute that no one was hurt." Max said. "We are very greatful for that too." the first mother said. "Well I think a belt would help." Carl said. "That's not for us to decide. We determine the punishment of the twins because they are partially our responsibility. Not these two. I feel confident that these mothers have everything under control." Max said. "I guess your husbands sent you to fix their business issues." Carl said. "Not at all. Businesses come and go. Our concern is in our sons. Our husbands have their own issues." the second mother said. "Thank you for that." Carl said.
Max turned and looked at the two boys. "You two seem to be descent boys that have been extremely misled. I trust that your mothers will straighten you out but I will tell you this. If they do not you need to remember one thing. I am the old fag around here that if I ever here of you even mentioning anything about anyone's sexuality and not being respectful this old fag will ruin your lives forever." Max said. "Yes sir." both boys said. "We appreciate your offer but I know this is a bad analagy but I don't think you would allow an atheist to work for you. Not even for free. Plus I could not guarantee their safety." Max said. "I completely understand and appreciate you taking the time to talk to us and also thinking of our sons safety after all that has happened." the first mother said. "Thank you for taking the reins with your sons. I am sure they will turn out to be great men." Max said. "I still say a belt." Carl said. "And you calm down. It is done." Max said and laughed.
Ross and Landon found out that the boys and their mothers had visited Carl and Max. Daryl was standing at the hood of Carl's truck talking to Max and Carl about rebuilding the office somewhere else on the proerty. As they got out of the truck Ross walked towards the group of men. Landon stayed back and had his head lowered. Carl walked up and quickly hugged Ross before walking off to hug Landon. Landon stiffened up as Carl hugged him. Putting his arm over Landon's shoulder Carl walked back to catch up with Ross taking Landon with him. "We heard about your visit. I am so sorry that you two got pulled into this." Ross said. Max walked up and hugged Ross first and then hugged Landon. "It's fine. I am glad that we had a chance to have our say." Max said. "You shouldn't have to be bothered with all of that." Landon said in a low voice. "You two are family. What happens to you happens to us. Just don't ever try any of that kung fu stuff on me. I carry a gun." Carl laughed before hugging Landon tight again. "When you guys finish this afternoon come to the house. Brian and Ty will be there. We need to have a family meeting so plan to eat. Then if you want you can move your stuff back to your place or wait until tomorrow." Max said. "Family meeting ?" Ross said. "Yes so that means you two." Carl laughed.
That evening when Ross and Landon arrived at the house they saw Brian's SUV, Daryl and Mary's car, and Joe's pickup in the drive. "You alright with this ?" Ross asked. "I'm not sure yet." Landon said. "Me either." Ross whispered. Behind them they saw headlights. Before they could get out of the truck they saw Flo and her boyfriend pull up. Once inside everyone chatted for a few minutes. "We need to shower real quick." Ross said. The twins came running to them. "Us too." the shouted. Ross had the caught in the headlights look as he looked at the group. "Shawn said he was hulk tonight and Shane wants superman." Ty said reaching behind his back and pulling out folded pajamas. "Get your clothes. You know how to use the big shower so you guys go in there." Max said. Landon and Ross looked at each other and blushed. Finally in the shower they hurried to wash the twins. Carl said. "Wait we don't need that." Ross said. "When I am finished you will see why. Then you can decide." Carl said.
Carl and Max took turns telling the group about the plans. First was the purchase of Flo's diner. "You know that ranch and how it operates. Your opinion and help will be priceless." Carl said to Landon. "There are other guys there that know more about it than me." Landon said. "But we trust you." Brian said. "I wondered why his kids have been there with cameras, tape measures and people in suits." Landon said. "That is one reason that all of this will happend very quickly." Carl said. "Why would you move that house across the road ?" Ross asked. Carl pointed to the twin in each ones laps. "It won't be long before there is a well beaten path from Brian and Ty's to both our house and where you two live. I don't want them having to go off ranch or cross any roads to get there. The houses will both be private but the twins can make the trips and still be safe." Carl said. "I will get with you two about how you want it remodeled once it's moved." Daryl said. "Um .. we are just ranch hands. That will make it rough with the other guys." Ross said. "No. Brian is Ranch manager. If you will accpet it you will be assistant Ranch manager. Brian has his hands full with the other herd and the grain. You will be in charge of the kobe heard and the hay and feed grain. " Carl said.
By this point Ross felt like he had stepped back into the shower full clothed with all the sweat. "I guess I need to apply for a job here if Mr. Durk is selling out." Landon said. "Not at all. For the time being Durk wants you to remain on his payroll. He would like you to stay on it until after his estate is settled when the time comes. You will live here and also get a small check from us to go along with that pay. Durk told us that you were the one that was big in the artificial insemination program he had started between the kobe and regular beef cattle. He said the program was to develop a better than standard grade meat but not as expensive as the kobe." Max said. "That did look like it was going to be promising." Landon said. "Well you will head that division up. We will all be expected to help in any area needed through out the company." Carl asked. "That goes without question." Ty said. "Daryl will start on the new office first. It will be between both your houses. Then he will start on additional hand housing so we will be prepared." Carl said. "I will have a crew working on yours too." Daryl said to Ross and Landon. "That one can be last." Ross said. "Anyone have any objections to their promotions or jobs so far ?" Max asked. "What about you Uncle Joe. You should have the job of assistant not me." Ross said. "Don't worry I will have my hands full. My job is to make sure you and Brian do your jobs. Plus I will handle yours while you and Landon are on your Texas trips." Joe laughed. "When will all of this begin ?" Ross asked. "Well your job is as of now. As of right now you are the assistant ranch manager including the pay increase that comes with it. All the guys already know." Brian said. "So are we all on board ?" Carl asked. "What will you do Ms. Flo ?" Ross asked. "I will keep running the diner like I have until I decide to retire." she said. "Good." Ross said. "Oh honey you can't get rid of this old bat that easy." Flo laughed.
Ross, Landon, Ty, Mary and Max made quick work of cleaning the kitchen and putting the left overs away. Once back in the den they joined the conversation about the expansions and how soon they would happen. Landon tried to listen but soon had to excuse himself because of the twins persisatnce. Ross began to stir. Laying on his back he could feel Landon's hairy chest laying against his and could feel the warm breath on his neck. As he opened his eyes he began to survey his situation. Laughing lightly Landon moaned a little. Landon lay partailly on top of him with his hips laying across Ross' with his feet on the left side and his head on Ross' right shoulder. Hell just signing my paycheck and writing a couple of checks for bills is too much paperwork for me." Another laughed. "We wanted to talk to you guys about cross training. We will be expanding very quickly and that means more hands around here. We want you guys to know everything there is around here including the new things we will be doing. As it grows if you are interested we would like to rely on you guys to be crew leaders. There will be a few that only work one job or one area. We would like you guys to know it all. Plus the pay compensation will reflect that." Brian said. "Whatever you need boss man as long as it doesn't mean paperwork." One laughed. "Oh and you need to talk to Ross and Landon and tell them to keep the noise down so we can get some sleep." One hand said. "So I am guessing they made some noise ?" Carl laughed. "Nah. These units pretty sound proof but they don't need to know we didn't hear." One laughed.
"Well Mr. Durk everything seems to be progressing well. In this pamplet are some possible side effects. We will make you a follow up appointment for two weeks. If you have any of these side effects then call my office. We may be able to determine if we need to take any actions by phone without you having to travel back to Atlanta." Phillip said. "The insurance company called and said that they were covering a large portion. Do I need to pay you some money in advance for whatever they won't cover ?" Durk asked. "I think you already have that covered. Max took care of that the day he was in here. If that runs low then we will bill you." Phillip said. "I do want one last blood test panel before you leave though. It won't take but a minute. " Phillip said as he motioned for the nurse to take Durk with her. "I am greatful that you took Durk as a patient. I am sorry for how it happened but we knew nothing about this." B said. "Can we talk frankly ?" Phillip asked. "Sure. You may not like the answers but this is personal and not business." B said.

You look at it differently but I see it for what it is. You were in a bad situation and you needed a pick me up. How did that work out for you ?" Durk asked. "It's complicated." Phillip said.

The day had ended and Max and Carl had been able to make some changes they wanted in the new land purchases. To their surprise everyone was gathering at Daryl and Mary's. The ranch will be given to you, Ty and you boys (pointing to Mary and Daryl's boys). We have made seperate provisions for Joe's children." Carl said. "You don't need to leave us anything." One of the nephews said. "Too late. You are as important to us as Brian, Ty and the boys." Max said. "What about the restaurant ?" Ty asked. "That will be owned by the ranch. The only thing seperate will be that small acerage, the herd, the business end and the house." Max said. "Any questions ?" Carl asked. "And by the way the will states that anyone that contests the will automatically surrenders their portion to be equally distributed among the other heirs." Max said. "I guess that means no questions then." Brian said. "You damn skippy." Max said looking at Brian with a cold stare. "Ah snap." B laughed.

"We have discussed it and B and I plan to fund the new operation and the restaurant. This will not be part of the other transaction we discussed." Durk said. "We can't allow you to do that. Besides as soon as some of the paperwork is complete and some of the assets moved we will complete the sale of the herd and business to you and then I want to divide the Texas assets among my children and I will be finished with them." Durk said. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves." Daryl said. "We aren't Daryl. We know what the future holds. We are both alright with that. I just could not go in peace knowing that B would have to deal with my greedy little bastards about anything." Durk said. "Eeewww Gandpaw said a dirty word." Shawn said. "Does Bpaw need to get his belt ?" B laughed. "NO." Shane shouted jumping into Durk's lap. "I wouldn't do that baby." B said. "Sounds like Bpaw needs a spanking." Carl laughed. "Careful you." Mary said. "Don't worry. I don't think there could be two better teachers than Carl and Max to show them they have to work for everything they get and to also be greatful for what they have." Daryl said. "Well they are still going to college." Mary said. "That is not even an option. Remember Carl and Max said they were going to pay for their education in whatever field they wanted. I am sure they will be given no choice but to go." Daryl said. "I hope you are right." Mary said. "Oh I know I am. Now come on over here. I don't think you have ever made love to a man that has a brother in law that owns his own private plane." Daryl whispered. "You silly man. "Do you two really mind if we more or less live here ?" Durk asked. "You are both welcomed here as long as you want. Plus I enjoy Mother having B here to argue with. Gives me a break." The farmer laughed. "You may want to rethink that. That will give you two to argue with you now." Durk laughed. "Doubt that. By the time they get through arguing with each other as to who was going to argue with me they will forget all about me." The farmer laughed. "And I thought you didn't think too far ahead." B laughed. "Well be prepared. As soon as we get the new plane and get some test flights in we are taking you both to Paris." B said. "Aint getting me on no plane." The farmer said. "Might be time to rethink your house guests then. I know how to use a cattle tranquilizer. I didn't just clean house and cook you know." B laughed. "Oh you will love it. You will get to see what a cloud looks like from above it." Durk said. "Damn planed fly that high ?" The farmer asked. "I guess I need to go buy some tranquilizers." B laughed.

Ross asked. "I am sure you feel like you have been crushed all night." Landon said. "Like you said. You are perfect. You are perfect just like you are and even more perfect exactly where you are." "Max and I gave Ross and Landon the day off." Carl said to the group of men. "He may need tomorrow off too boss." One of the hands laughed. "That may be true but he starts his new job tomorrow and so does Landon." Carl laughed. "I personally think it was a great choice boss. That boy Ross cares for this ranch like it's his own." Another hand said. "I hope you guys know that the decisions were no reflection on you or your work." Max said. "Not at all boss. We all know there will be paperwork. Hell just signing my paycheck and writing a couple of checks for bills is too much paperwork for me." Another laughed. "We wanted to talk to you guys about cross training. We will be expanding very quickly and that means more hands around here. We want you guys to know everything there is around here including the new things we will be doing. As it grows if you are interested we would like to rely on you guys to be crew leaders. There will be a few that only work one job or one area. We would like you guys to know it all. Plus the pay compensation will reflect that." Brian said. "Whatever you need boss man as long as it doesn't mean paperwork." One laughed. "Oh and you need to talk to Ross and Landon and tell them to keep the noise down so we can get some sleep." One hand said. "So I am guessing they made some noise ?" Carl laughed. "Nah. These units pretty sound proof but they don't need to know we didn't hear." One laughed.
"Well Mr. Durk everything seems to be progressing well. In this pamplet are some possible side effects. We will make you a follow up appointment for two weeks. If you have any of these side effects then call my office. We may be able to determine if we need to take any actions by phone without you having to travel back to Atlanta." Phillip said. "The insurance company called and said that they were covering a large portion. Do I need to pay you some money in advance for whatever they won't cover ?" Durk asked. "I think you already have that covered. Max took care of that the day he was in here. If that runs low then we will bill you." Phillip said. "I do want one last blood test panel before you leave though. It won't take but a minute. " Phillip said as he motioned for the nurse to take Durk with her. "I am greatful that you took Durk as a patient. I am sorry for how it happened but we knew nothing about this." B said. "Can we talk frankly ?" Phillip asked. "Sure. You may not like the answers but this is personal and not business." B said.

"First I will say that Max has a really great life now. It took a while but he is there now. I don't think he could be any happier." Durk said. "Yeah he has gotten a handle on the Phillip Syndrome and gotten over it." B said. "Phillip syndrome ?" Phillip asked. "Let me ask you this. Did you love Max ?" Durk asked. "I still do." Phillip said. "Funny damn way of showing it." B said. "It's complicated. You don't know the whole story." Phillip said. "Oh I think I do." Durk said.
Durk sat back in the high back leather chair. "I don't know exactly what happened but then again I do. Max is an amazing man. Other than this one beside me I have never met a more amazing man. You broke him. Yes you broke him and it's not something to be proud of. God only made a hand full of Max's. You should have felt blessed to have crossed his path instead of seeing someone you could use." Durk said. "It's not like that." Phillip said. "Bullshit." B said. "Like I was saying. God only puts a few in this world like Max. Max is the type that he ever tells you that he loves you he is not just talking. Max is slow to say it because when he does he means it. You look at it differently but I see it for what it is. You were in a bad situation and you needed a pick me up. You needed someone that you felt loved you without reservation since you got absolutly none at home. The sad thing is that you were only willing to use what you needed and discard the rest. You needed someone to tell you that you were handsome and desirable. You tested his limits to see what he was willing to do for you with nothing in return. You played games with him and played his emotions like yours have been played. When things got tough instead of being a man and reaching out for happiness you thought you would kill two birds with one stone. You thought that you could crush Max and make your partner happy but that Max loved you so much he would forgive you and you could just say I am sorry and all would be well in your world again. How did that work out for you ?" Durk asked. "It's complicated." Phillip said.
"I thought you were a smart man. At least your wall of diplomas would make you think that. Apparently not. Durk said causing B to huff and fold his arms. "You would not believe me if I told you the condition Max was in when we met him. Even though he looked like a broken man I saw the strongest man I had ever met in my life." Durk said. "I will agree there. Max is the strongest man I have ever met." Phillip said. "Well you can pat yourself on the back for helping break him. But don't pat too hard. I think that you did him the best favor of his life. You drove him away and into the arms of a man that would die for him. Carl came to Texas and never left Max's side to bring him back. I will not honor your ego with the details but you accomplished something that only a couple of people in this world could do to Max. You hurt him so bad you broke him." Durk said. "That was not my intent." Phillip said. "Yes it was. You found someone that you could push as far as your partner pushes you. You wanted someone that would do like you and take it and still be there. You wanted someone that you could treat the way that ass wipe treats you and they would still be there. Well you can only push so far." B said. "I guess you are right." Phillip said. "Honey I know I am right. You will do good to remember that." B said. "Calm down." Durk said.

I hope that the few dollars you aquire in your life hold you when you feel bad and feed you soup because if you got old or sick, which one day you will, he will be gone. My blessing is setting right here beside me." Durk said. "You old fart." B said and smiled.
"I see the brochure. I see you are dreading buying your partner that Mercedes he said he deserves. Hell I spent fifty million dollars on a private jet for my honey just as fast as I could find one. The day had ended and Max and Carl had been able to make some changes they wanted in the new land purchases. To their surprise everyone was gathering at Daryl and Mary's. The twins had been at their house all day so Mary contacted everyone and said she was cooking so everyone come there. To Carl and Max's surprise Durk and B had arrived. They had arrived a couple of hours earlier at the farmer and his wife's and were quickly invited by Daryl and Mary. "How are things going ? You don't know how glad I am to see you two." Max said as he hurried across the room to hug both men. "Things are good." Durk said. As everyone sat down to eat Durk informed everyone about the progress in Atlanta. "Look at those two." Carl said as he watched the twins across the table. Without even speaking each twin took their plates from the table and muscled their way in on each side of Durk. Setting their plates on the table each twin crawled up on each knee of Durk. "You feel better Ganpaw ?" Shane said as macaroni and cheese fell from his mouth. "Ganpaw ?" Durk said. Dinner was finished and the table cleared. Mary had prepared Durk a plate and covered it since he had refused to let go of the twins. "I feel like we are missing a couple of family members." We have instructed the lawyers to leave that company and all it's assets to Ross and Landon. They will be a part of the complete ranch operation until such time as there is an estate to probate. Anyone have any questions ?" Max said. Brian sat there and didn't look towards Max or Carl. "That means you too Brian." Carl said in a stern voice. "I have no problem. I just want to make sure there are no issues when any time comes. I don't want a family war." Brian said. "I trust noone here is greedy enough to cause that. The ranch will be given to you, Ty and you boys (pointing to Mary and Daryl's boys). We have made seperate provisions for Joe's children." Carl said. "You don't need to leave us anything." One of the nephews said. "Too late. You are as important to us as Brian, Ty and the boys." Max said. "What about the restaurant ?" Ty asked. "That will be owned by the ranch. The only thing seperate will be that small acerage, the herd, the business end and the house." Max said. "Any questions ?" Carl asked. "And by the way the will states that anyone that contests the will automatically surrenders their portion to be equally distributed among the other heirs." Max said. "I guess that means no questions then." Brian said. "You damn skippy." Max said looking at Brian with a cold stare. "Ah snap." B laughed.
"B and I would like to add something to this." Durk said. "That's Bpaw." B said proudly. "Well Bpaw and Gandpaw would like to add something to this if you don't mind." Durk said. "Feel free. You are family too Gandpaw." Mary said. "First off I need a dollar Carl." B said. Carl pulled out his money clip. "Um.. Will a twenty do ?"Carl asked. "A little high but you drive a hard bargain. Now sign these." B said turning the papers around to Carl. "You two sign right there." Durk pointed. Carl and Max looked at each other. B picked Shawn up and placed him in his lap. "Baby tell Uncle Carl that Bpaw said to sign the paper." B said leaning over and kissing Shawn on the head. "Unca Carl Bpaw said sign." Shawn said. "Yes baby." Carl laughed. Durk pulled the paper back. "Now you two are the proud owners of your own private jet." B said. "Uh we can't take that." Max said. "That was owned by the company. I want a smaller new one for some of the places my honey is going to take me so this one needed to be sold quick." B said. "So I am taking you places ?" Durk laughed. "Yes you are so stop arguing." B said. "I guess I am taking him places in a new jet." Durk laughed.
"We have discussed it and B and I plan to fund the new operation and the restaurant. This will not be part of the other transaction we discussed." Durk said. "We can't allow you to do that. That's too much." Carl said. "Baby Uncle Carl is being mean to Bpaw." B whispered. "Careful Unca Carl, Bpaw has a belt. He will pank you." Shane said laughing. "Alright. Stop using those two against me." Carl laughed. "Is it working ?" Durk asked. "Every time." Max laughed. "Look. Things will not get better. Hopefully thanks to Max the progression will slow. We have talked to our friends here (looking towards the farmer and his wife) and plan to move to Wyoming and spend most of our time here if you will allow. B wants to stay here when the time comes. Besides as soon as some of the paperwork is complete and some of the assets moved we will complete the sale of the herd and business to you and then I want to divide the Texas assets among my children and I will be finished with them." Durk said. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves." Daryl said. "We aren't Daryl. We know what the future holds. We are both alright with that. I just could not go in peace knowing that B would have to deal with my greedy little bastards about anything." Durk said. "Eeewww Gandpaw said a dirty word." Shawn said. "Does Bpaw need to get his belt ?" B laughed. "NO." Shane shouted jumping into Durk's lap. "I wouldn't do that baby." B said. "Sounds like Bpaw needs a spanking." Carl laughed. "Careful you." B laughed. "Sounds like I finally have some help." Durk said hugging Shane.
"We have also talked to Flo. We want to fund the restaurant venture." Durk said. "We have to draw a line somewhere." Max said. "Draw all the lines you want. This was not a request. Daryl and Mary lay in bed talking. "Honey I don't want all of this to go to the boy's heads. Everyone around here has had to work hard for everything they have. We were in the fields as small kids." Mary said. "Don't worry. I don't think there could be two better teachers than Carl and Max to show them they have to work for everything they get and to also be greatful for what they have." Daryl said. "Well they are still going to college." Mary said. "That is not even an option. Remember Carl and Max said they were going to pay for their education in whatever field they wanted. I am sure they will be given no choice but to go." Daryl said. "I hope you are right." Mary said. "Oh I know I am. Now come on over here. I don't think you have ever made love to a man that has a brother in law that owns his own private plane." Daryl whispered. "You silly man. "Do you two really mind if we more or less live here ?" Durk asked. "You are both welcomed here as long as you want. Plus I enjoy Mother having B here to argue with. Gives me a break." The farmer laughed. "You may want to rethink that. That will give you two to argue with you now." Durk laughed. "Doubt that. By the time they get through arguing with each other as to who was going to argue with me they will forget all about me." The farmer laughed. "And I thought you didn't think too far ahead." B laughed. "Well be prepared. As soon as we get the new plane and get some test flights in we are taking you both to Paris." B said. "Aint getting me on no plane." The farmer said. "Might be time to rethink your house guests then. I know how to use a cattle tranquilizer. I didn't just clean house and cook you know." B laughed. "Oh you will love it. You will get to see what a cloud looks like from above it." Durk said. "Damn planed fly that high ?" The farmer asked. "I guess I need to go buy some tranquilizers." B laughed.

I need one of you to go with him and help get a list together for the new fencing. I am with grain and hay and Brian is with the other herd." Carl said. "What do I do today ?" Landon asked. "Go soak in a tub of epson salts. Ross will be off work in a few hours." One of the hands said causing them all to laugh. "Max will be here in a minute and you and him are going to look at the house and then at the land. After that Durk and B said they wanted you to go over and meet with them. I think they want to lay out their transition plan." Carl said.
Max pulled up in his SUV. "Alright guys. You got your assigments for today so let's get busy." Carl said. Ross walked up and hugged Max as he got out of the truck. "Thank you so much for giving us yesterday off." Ross said. "Did you make the best of the day ?" Max asked. "I am on cloud nine. I kept this sexy man naked all day." Ross said putting his arm around Landon. "ROSS." Landon said. "That's what we were hoping for. When the gate won't open to get to the house you know that's a day I keep my man naked so I can see that sexy ass all day." Carl said reaching over and goosing Max's ass cheek. "Alright you two. There is a ranch to run so get to work. Oh Ross we expect you two at the house for supper and a family business meeting tonight." Max laughed. "Family business meeting ?" Ross asked. "Yes a family business meeting. You both are family." Carl said. With a quick kiss between each couple they were each on their way.
"Mr. Max we should have gotten one of the trucks. You are going to scratch your SUV going through some of this." Landon said. "We won't drive that far. We will walk part of the way. Besides I figured you needed a comfortable seat to set in for a while. Hell I know I do." Max laughed. "Well after seeing your husband I see why you have such comfortable seats." Landon laughed. They could see the house from where they parked. As they walked towards the house it seemed to get bigger and bigger. "This is huge. Well not as huge as yours but it's a big house." Landon said. "First off there is one correction. It's Uncle Max. When Carl told me there was a small farm house here I expected a small house like the farm houses in Georgia. This must be a small farm house for Wyoming." Max laughed. The two walked up on the stoop of a front porch. "Well this will have to change." Max said. "What is that ?" Landon said. "A house can have a stoop. A home needs a huge inviting front porch." Max said. Both men were surprised at what good shape the house was in. If it were not being moved it would be move in ready for most people. It was a two story house. Like so many older homes the second story was really attic space made into rooms with dormer windows to let in light.
"You think this is enough room for you and Ross to run around naked ?" Daryl asked as he and Joe walked in the door. "Is this pick on Landon day ?" Landon asked. "If we didn't love you we wouldn't pick on you." Daryl said. "I love you too Mr. Daryl." Landon said. "You better get the Uncle and Aunt thing down before supper tonight. You don't want Mary getting on your ass. I am sure it's sore enough as it is." Joe laughed. "We will have to take that stoop off to move the house." Daryl said. "Good. If I had a hammer I would take it off now." Max said. "We will need to replace this banister going up stairs. Can't have one of them laying out of work for sliding down this rail naked and getting splinters." Joe said laughing. Landon just blushed. "It just needs a little paint and a little cleaning." Landon said. "Shut your mouth boy. This will get a total overhaul like all the rest. My family has to eat too." Daryl laughed. "Yeah I think these hardwood floors can look beautiful but all the wiring and plumbing have to be replaced. Plus that hidious kitchen and those nasty bathrooms have to go." Max said.
The bottom floor consisted of the living room, dining room, kitchen, one bedroom and one bathroom. Taking the stoop off other than the dormer windows upstairs it would appear to be a huge square box. The living room was on one side which took up three fourths of the house with a samll room beside it that was apparently the master bedroom. On the other side of the staircase was a huge dining room that was open all the way to the back of the house where the kitchen was.
"Daryl. Can you draw us up a floor plan and do a computer model centering the fireplace between the living room windows. Put in arch ways seperating the dining room from the kitchen and putting a breakfast room in that space too. Maybe add a bay window in that area. On this side make this an office space and put french doors on that big blank wall on the back and build a new master bedroom and bathroom. Make the downstairs bath just a half bath. The extra space you save can be made into a walk in pantry for the kitchen from the other side. The outside would look great as one of the cottage style with the half rock columns from a large porch and wood the rest of the way up. " Max said. "I can do that. What about upstairs ?" Daryl asked. "The bathroom needs to be bigger. Maybe a dormer out the back to make more space. That will give the back some character too. Oh and don't forget a back porch." Max said. "Looking at the roof I think the cedar shingles would look sharp." Daryl said. "Maybe part of it. That's a lot of roof for the birds to peck on but at least make sure they are the architecture ones." Max said. "I am sure they are going to be doing some family cooking so we will make sure the kitchen is right." Joe said. "Only thing left at the moment is the spot to put it and the go ahead to move it." Daryl said. As Joe and Daryl began measuring rooms Max and Landon left them to it.
"How are things going with you two ?" Carl asked as he and Ross looked over the herd. "It's like a dream come true. It's like a miracle." Ross said. "I know that it's all new and overwhelming but just remember how you feel today when it's a tough day." Carl said. "I will Uncle Carl. I never thought I would meet someone that fit so well with me." Ross said. "Oh it fits huh ?" Carl laughed. "Many times Uncle Carl but that's not what I mean." Ross said. "I know what you are talking about. I never thought I would meet someone like Max either. We just seem to fit together well. And before you say it smart ass. Yes it fits. Many times." Carl laughed. "I am just afraid I will wake up and it's all a dream." Ross said. "It's no dream my friend. You have a good man there. You are a good man. Together you can make an awesome couple. Besides Uncle Max and I are wanting some more grandkids." Carl said. "We are trying I promise." Ross laughed. "Oh I am sure you are. Max and I just want you to know that we are here for you two. We will do anything we can and that's a promise." Carl said. "I am still not sure what we have done to deserve all of this but I can promise we are greatful." Ross said. "Just always remember if Landon is happy then it will be a happy home. You have to be happy too though." Carl said. "As long as Landon is happy I am happy. That's all that matters." Ross said. "Sounds like my house. Max's happiness is all I care about. You have seen part of what we have gone through. If you love Landon like you say you do then you can weather anything. Just remember that and that sex is not the answer to everything." Carl said. "If we never had sex again as long as Landon stayed with me I would be content." Ross said. "Well let's just hope that doesn't happen." Carl laughed. "Your mouth to God's ear." Ross laughed.
Max and Landon got out of the SUV again across the road. They walked through the wooded area to a small hill on the property. "I hope I didn't upset you with all the recommendations for your house." Max said. "Ross and I will just be living there. It's your house but we don't need all of that." Landon said. "Well hopefully you will live many happy years in this house. Plus Carl and I are hoping for some more little ones running around the house one day." Max said. "I keep telling Ross I can't get pregnant but he keeps trying." Landon laughed. "So you two are not using protection ?" Max asked. "Ross said I was his first and I believe him. I wish he had been my first but it has been a couple of years and I have been tested twice since then. I gave Ross the option. He keeps telling me that he wants to buy a tanker trailer of lube and park it outside and run a hose through the window." Landon laughed. "Oh hell don't let Carl hear him say that. He hasn't thought of that yet." Max laughed.
Max and Landon walked around the small hilltop. "What do you think Landon ?" Max asked. "This is a really nice spot but aren't you wasting a lot of pasture land by putting the house this far back ?" Landon asked. "As much land as this ranch has don't worry about wasting pasture land. We need to put the house on the best spot the land has to offer." Max said. "I am still not sure why you even want my opinion." Landon said. "Well our hope is that you and Ross decide to grow old right here on the ranch. You will be the ones living here. Follow me." Max said.
Max smiled as he heard Landon gasp as they walked through the small thicket of trees. On the other side was a cleared area and a drop off to a small valley. Looking across the opening were more beautiful mountain views. "Since the house will not be seen from the road we won't have to worry about squaring it with the road. If we place it just right then you will be able to have these views from almost every room in the house. Especially the master bedroom and the back yard." Max said. "It is breath taking." Landon said. These trees to the side will stay and a barn will be built beyond them and the pastures. That way you don't see them from the house. You have work area and then home seperate." Max said. "Most don't worry about convenience and privacy on a ranch. It's all about use of space." Landon said. "Well I think by now you have realized that our ranch is a little different." Max laughed. "A little ?" Landon laughed. "Alright it's settled. Bring Ross out here after work before you come to the house and show him where you decided." Max said. "He may want to move it." Landon said. "I saw the way he looked at you. Believe me. As long as you move in it he wouldn't care if it hung off a cliff." Max said. "You really think so ?" Landon said and smiled. "The boy is head over heals in love with you. I just hope you are with him too." Max said. "I am. It's scary but I am." Landon said.
Max and Landon placed some flags on the property. They marked where the house should go and what trees should be removed for the view. "Alright let's run to Flo's for lunch and then you have to meet with Durk and B." Max said. Walking back to the SUV Landon kept looking over his shoulder at the flags. "Are you alright with the choices ?" Max asked. "Um. Yes but I still don't see why my opinion counts." Landon said. "But it does. Never doubt that around here about anything." Max said as he opened the driver's door.
"Well I don't believe it. That cute hunk of yours let you get dressed long enough to go to lunch ?" Flo called out as they walked into the diner. A few of the customers looked up to see who Flo was talking too before looking back at their food. "Flo. Some of your customers may not like to hear that type thing." Landon whispered. "Honey that sign out there still says Flo's. They don't like what I got to say they can put their fork down and get the hell out." Flo said. "Sounds like she means that." Landon said. "She does." Max laughed. " What you want besides a pillow to set on honey because if you don't need that pillow then your boss here needs to give you two a couple more days off." Flo said. "What do you recommend ?" Landon said. "This is Flo's honey. I recommend everything." Flo laughed. "I want a cup of coffee to start out Flo." Max said. "Coming up. What you want honey. You two have company coming for lunch anyway." Flo said. "We are ?" Max said. About that time he heard the bell ring on the door and saw Carl and Ross walking through the door. "Alright you four. You plan on stripping in here and having sex on the tables let me know so I can clear the place out first." Flo laughed.
Lunch went well. Flo had long since lost her ability to embarrass Max but Ross and Landon were fair game. Carl and Max laughed a few times at how red each of the young could turn at times after Flo made comments. "How did it go with the house and the lot ?" Carl asked. "I think it went well. Daryl is drawing up some plans. Landon and I looked at a spot for the house. He is suppose to take you to look at it after work Ross. Then you guys can tell us tonight what you think. " Max said. "Whatever you decide will be fine with us. It's your house." Ross said. "That's true but I told Landon that I hoped that you two had many happy years in that house so it is up to you." Max said. "I told him I didn't understand why they needed our opinion but he wouldn't listen." Landon said. "Oh my husband is good with his selective hearing." Carl said. "Did he just speak." Max said pointing towards Carl. "See what you have to look forward to Ross." Carl laughed. "Well you two take Max's SUV to meet Durk and B. My honey is going with me to finish checking the herd. You can leave it at the barn when you are done. You will need to get your truck from where we left it too." Carl said. "Are you sure about that ?" Ross asked. Both Max and Carl just shook their head in disbelief that Ross would question them.
Ross and Landon arrived at the farmer's house to find Durk and B along with the farmer and his wife setting in the yard watching the construction crew as they worked. "Hello Mr. Durk and Mr. B. It's so good to see you." Landon said as he walked up to shake their hands. B stood up and hugged the young man. "Are you happy here ?" B whispered. "As I could possibly be." Landon whispered. "Good. I had hoped you would." B whispered. "I hear it's you I need to thank." Landon whispered. "Alright you two." Durk said. "Hush you old fart." B said. "I want to thank you both for bringing me here." Landon said. "Not as much as I want to thank you." Ross said. "Pull up a chair. You can watch them nail on the house too." The farmer said. "Oh you will learn soon enough. We have new names around here thanks to the twins. I am Gandpaw and that old one over there is Bpaw." Durk said. "Who you calling old ?" B said. "So we expect you two to either call us Uncle or our new names." Durk said. "I feel a little old to call you Ganpaw. Is Uncle Durk good enough ?" Ross said. "As long as I don't hear mister." Durk said. "The mood he is in today you can call him Uncle Old fart." B said. "And don't you say a word." The farmer's wife said to the farmer as he just smiled and shook his head.
"I have a question that you may want to answer in private." Durk said looking at Landon. "No need for privacy." Landon said. "Son are you happy here ? So you think you will be happy living here ?" Durk asked. "Mr. uh. I mean Uncle Durk. I love your place in Texas but look around. These views. Who wouldn't love living here." Landon said. "What about me ?" Ross laughed. "You are just a bonus." Landon laughed. "That's what I wanted to hear." Durk said. Durk and B sat down with the two young men and talked to them about their plans for the two to travel between there and Texas. They wanted them to help coordinate the transfer of the rest of the herd and some of the equipment that would be coming. They also wanted Landon to make sure that the herd for the higher grade beef that he had been working with was clearly marked so they would be easy to seperate. Durk also discussed which employees of the ranch that Landon felt would want to move with the company and would fit in well at Rexlan ranch. Landon said that most of the employees would probably be glad to stay with the business but he had reservations about one couple. "You know they like to play. They are fairly persistant about playing with any men they can get in their bed. I am afraid they would cause too many problems here. " Landon said. "I know exactly who you are talking about. They tried it with me. Guess they thought they could get to the boss through me." B said. "Well did you take them up on it ?" Durk laughed. "I am too use to you and your old ass. So no." B said in a huff.
"When will all of this start ?" Ross asked. "I am going to talk to Carl and Max tonight. We thought about having you two flown to Texas on Sunday. Take a day or so to get aclimated and start checking things out, felling the employees out and making notes on Tuesday." Durk said. "And if you two don't mind we want you to drive a couple of vehicles back for us. Durk's new Ford F150 and one of mine I guess." B said. "The one you just bought ?" Landon said. "Not yet. I think it would look a little weird to have a new Bentley setting in the tractor barn. The new Mercedes will do." B laughed. "What is a Bentley ?" The farmer's wife asked. "A car that cost more than our farm. House included." The farmer said. "Oh. " she said. "it's not all that. Don't worry you will be driving it to get groceries." B said. "I don't think so. My Buick does just fine." She said. "What's a Buick ?" B said causing the group to laugh. "Well when we first met you were driving and Edsel." Durk said. "Well you were driving a Studebaker that had one of the back doors welded on it so it wouldn't fall off." B said. "What is an Edsel and a Studebaker ?" Ross asked. "Smart ass." B said and laughed. "What ?" Ross said which caused all but he and Landon to laugh.
Ross and Landon showered together. There was just a little playful touching since they still needed to go to the land and look at what Max and Landon had discussed and still make it to the main house in time for supper. In the truck Landon lay his hand on Ross' bare leg as if it were natural. Pulling onto the lot they were able to drive a little bit closer in Ross' truck than they had in Max's SUV. "Are you sure we are suppose to go back this far ?" Ross said. "We still have to walk a short ways." Landon said. Getting out of the truck Landon reached out and took Ross' hand. Walking through a small plot of trees they came to the opening on top of the hill. "This is where Max wants to put the house." Landon said. "Isn't putting it way back here a waste of some good useable land ?" Ross asked. "I said the same thing. Max said this ranch already had enough land. This was not a waste." Landon said. "If he says so." Ross laughed. "You know that we will be living here." Landon said. "I can't wait. I can chase that cute naked ass of yours all over this yard." Ross said. "Cover your eyes." Landon said. Taking Ross' hand and leading him through another small tree growth Landon stopped Ross and turned him with his back facing the mountain range.
"Can you just imagine waking up to this every morning and going to sleep seeing this every night ?" Landon said pulling Ross' hand from his eyes. "I hope to see this for the rest of my life." Ross said looking at Landon. "No dummy. Turn around." Landon said. "HOLY shit." Ross said as he looked out across the mountain range. "Max wants the house turned so that you can see a view like this from almost every room." Landon said wrapping his arms around Ross from behind. Ross pulled Landon's arms free and pulled him around in front of him and pulled Landon's back to his chest. Reaching his arms around Landon and placing his chin on Ross' shoulder.
"Will you be happy sweet heart ?" Ross whispered. "I don't need all this. I just need you." Landon said. Ross reached down and ran his hands through the elastic waist band of Landon's running shorts. "You know one day I plan to slide my hard dick up your sweet ass right where we are standing and make sweet love to you." Ross whispered. "This may be our laundry room right here." Landon laughed. "And your point ?" Ross whispered. Moving his fingers down he searched for the waist band of Landon's underwear. "Ah hell my honey isn't wearing undies." Ross said as he reached further down and cupped Landon's low hanging balls. "I figured it would be quicker undressing when we got home. Is that weird ?" Landon said. "Oh no my love. I love you like this. I can sneak a feel amd noone will know it." Ross whispered. "Well if you don't stop that and we get going we will be late for supper." Landon said. "Want to skip it ?" Ross said. "You want to call Carl and Max and explain why ?" Landon said. "Point taken. Now get that pretty ass in my truck. Oh and loose the shorts until we get there." Ross said as he removed his hands and took Landon's to lead him back to the truck.
The house was in full swing by the time Ross and Landon arrived. The twins almost tackled them at the door. Within a minute Ross and Landon were waving their hellos as they headed to the pile of toys in the middle of the floor. Durk, B, and the farmer sat and watched the four roll around and play on the floor. Landon was careful to make sure nothing fell out of his shorts while tussling with the twins. Daryl came through and without slowing down reached down and pulled Shane up by the waist band of his pants. Shane squealed and squirmed as Daryl held on. "You cared me Pop." Shane laughed. "Oh I did ?" Daryl said as he set the boy on his stomach on the floor and reached down and tickled him. "You didn't care me." Shawn said as he jumped up and ran around behind the couch. "Alright all you kids in here. Supper is on the table." Max said as he entered the room.
Dinner was a mass of conversation all around the table. Ross and Landon helped clear the table quickly. Max had prepared a dessert called a three layer pie. Dessert and coffee were served at the table. "While we are all here I want to have a quick family meeting. First of all I want to appologize to both Ross and Landon for the family meeting that we had last night that did not include them." Carl said. "That will be the last. We are a family and we do things together. That being said I want to explain why you were not included." Max said. "Here we go." Brian whispered. "You can leave the table Brian." Carl said sternly. "What ?" Brian said. "Let me appologize once again Ross and Landon. Brian has issues that do not involve you two but he has already been told of his fate on more than one occassion. You killed the old Uncle Max Brian. Do you really want to test my strength at this point ?" Max said. "No." Brian said.
The table calmed down again and Max and Carl began telling the group again about their plans for the future. Ty sat there listening and as Brian tried to place his hand on Ty's knee it was quickly brushed away. Ross and Landon sat there with their mouths open and in shock. Ross had a high respect for Brian and in the back of his mind understood, he thought, why Brian reacted the way he did. "I hope you understand now Landon why we wanted you so involved in the land and the house. Carl and I both want you and Ross to have many happy years together in that house and a part of this family." Carl said.
Landon looked at Ross and for the first time together Ross was able to read his mind and his expression. "I think that I speak for both Landon and myself when I say that we are honored and overwhelmed to be included in your plans but for the sake of this family that we have grown to love I think we would like to reapectfully give you our resignations. I will be glad to stay and train someone on the herd that I oversee and I feel sure that Landon will be glad to train someone to take over the third herd. I can not sleep at night knowing that I or we caused an issue in this wonderful family. I am greatful for every opportunity that you have offered and especially for bringing this man into my life. We are young and we have our whole lives ahead of us. We are both hard workers so we will forge our own way through life." Ross said. "I agree." Landon said. At that point Landon and Ross stood from the table and kissed each twin on the top of the head. The entire table could see Carl's fury including Brian. "I am sorry Mr. Max but I don't think I can help with the clean up at this point. I am greatful to everyone in this room for opening their arms and making me a member of this family. I am so sorry that me being here has caused tension." Landon said as he took Ross' hand and headed towards the door.
Durk stood and looked at Joe. "Joe can you come with me for a minute ? I need your help." Durk said. Carl turned and looked at Brian. "I see now that your father is so embeded in you that it will never change. At this point I would suggest that you get the FUCK out of my house. I warned you before that I would not stand for your greed. I think it's time you got out of my sight and I don't mean just out of my house. A few states in between us will suit me fine. Oh and just so you know. It's up to Ty if he wants to go with you but you will take those two over my dead body." Carl said and got up and walked out. Brian just sat there with a distant but very angry look in his eyes. B stood up and looked at Brian. "Come with me son." B said. "I'm not your son." Brian spat. "I know you aren't. If you were I would have already beat your ass." B said. "And before you say anything I know Bpaw said a bad word." B said pointing to the twins which caused them both to giggle.
"Hey guys wait up." Joe called as Ross and Landon walked down the driveway. "Where are you going ?" Joe asked. Ross just pulled Landon to his chest. So much had happened in just a short time and then all of a sudden Landon was faced with being unemployed and nowhere to live. It all came flooding out and his body trembled and his tears were uncontrollable. Ross on the other hand was furious at the fact that Landon was made to feel that way. He was use to gut punches in his life but he would not stand for anyone making Landon feel that way. "Why are you leaving your truck ?" Joe asked. "That's Rexlan Ranch truck. Please tell Mr. Max to let me know how much he spent on my car and I will pay him back as soon as I can." Ross said. By this point Joe had reached both young men and wrapped his arms around both of them. Durk had not moved as fast. Finally reaching the group. "Can we go set down somewhere and talk ?" Durk asked. "I appreciate it Mr. Durk but there is really nothing to discuss. Brian was right. I understand where he is coming from. I just hate to think that he or Ty may think that either of us asked for this." Ross said. "There is a lot that you don't know about but I think you need to hear. That's why I asked your Uncle Joe to come with me." Durk said.
"I need to tell you a story." B said as he walked across the pool deck behind Brian. "I don't need your opinion and it's none of your fucking business." Brian said. B grabbed Brian's shoulder. "It may be none of my business but damnit you are going to listen. I am an old man. I have earned enough respect from you to listen to me. And another thing. You ever curse at me again and you will find out just how big the bitch is I carry in my pocket. I will also remind you that the bitch I speak of is filthy fucking rich. I can rock your world with the stroke of a pen like no other so set your sorry ass down and listen." B said. "Where is Ty ?" Brian asked. "Probably inside deciding yours and his future. You have to worry about me at the moment. Now set down." B said.

Morning came sooner than any had wanted. As the men met at the barn there were snickers as Landon and Ross walked up. One of the ranch hands stretched and yawned. "When you two going to tone it down so we can get some sleep ? Hell it sounds like cats having sex with all the screaming." He laughed. "Yeah I brought you a pillow to use today Landon. Figured you may need it to set on." Another said pulling a small pillow from behind his back. "You guys are just jealous." Ross laughed. "We wondered if you would need an extra day off." Joe laughed. "Is this pick on Landon day ?" Landon asked. "Better than pick on Carl day." Carl laughed. "Could you guys really hear us ?" Landon said blushing. "He is so cute when he blushes." Brian laughed. "Nah but we couldn't resist." One of the hands said. "Alright. Joe is meeting Daryl to work out the logistics of moving the house. Ross the new heard is yours again today. This must be a small farm house for Wyoming." Max laughed. The two walked up on the stoop of a front porch. "Well this will have to change." Max said. "What is that ?" Landon said. "A house can have a stoop. A home needs a huge inviting front porch." Max said. Both men were surprised at what good shape the house was in. If it were not being moved it would be move in ready for most people. It was a two story house. Like so many older homes the second story was really attic space made into rooms with dormer windows to let in light.
"You think this is enough room for you and Ross to run around naked ?" Daryl asked as he and Joe walked in the door. "Is this pick on Landon day ?" Landon asked. "If we didn't love you we wouldn't pick on you." Daryl said. "I love you too Mr. Daryl." Landon said. "You better get the Uncle and Aunt thing down before supper tonight. You don't want Mary getting on your ass. I am sure it's sore enough as it is." Joe laughed. "We will have to take that stoop off to move the house." Daryl said. "Good. If I had a hammer I would take it off now." Max said. "We will need to replace this banister going up stairs. Can't have one of them laying out of work for sliding down this rail naked and getting splinters." Joe said laughing. Landon just blushed. "It just needs a little paint and a little cleaning." Landon said. "Shut your mouth boy. This will get a total overhaul like all the rest. My family has to eat too." Daryl laughed. "Yeah I think these hardwood floors can look beautiful but all the wiring and plumbing have to be replaced. Plus that hidious kitchen and those nasty bathrooms have to go." Max said.
The bottom floor consisted of the living room, dining room, kitchen, one bedroom and one bathroom. Taking the stoop off other than the dormer windows upstairs it would appear to be a huge square box. The living room was on one side which took up three fourths of the house with a samll room beside it that was apparently the master bedroom. On the other side of the staircase was a huge dining room that was open all the way to the back of the house where the kitchen was.
"Daryl. Can you draw us up a floor plan and do a computer model centering the fireplace between the living room windows. Put in arch ways seperating the dining room from the kitchen and putting a breakfast room in that space too. Maybe add a bay window in that area. On this side make this an office space and put french doors on that big blank wall on the back and build a new master bedroom and bathroom. Make the downstairs bath just a half bath. The extra space you save can be made into a walk in pantry for the kitchen from the other side. The outside would look great as one of the cottage style with the half rock columns from a large porch and wood the rest of the way up. " Max said. "I can do that. What about upstairs ?" Daryl asked. "The bathroom needs to be bigger. Maybe a dormer out the back to make more space. That will give the back some character too. Oh and don't forget a back porch." Max said. "Looking at the roof I think the cedar shingles would look sharp." Daryl said. "Maybe part of it. That's a lot of roof for the birds to peck on but at least make sure they are the architecture ones." Max said. "I am sure they are going to be doing some family cooking so we will make sure the kitchen is right." Joe said. "Only thing left at the moment is the spot to put it and the go ahead to move it." Daryl said. As Joe and Daryl began measuring rooms Max and Landon left them to it.
"How are things going with you two ?" Carl asked as he and Ross looked over the herd. "It's like a dream come true. It's like a miracle." Ross said. "I know that it's all new and overwhelming but just remember how you feel today when it's a tough day." Carl said. "I will Uncle Carl. I never thought I would meet someone that fit so well with me." Ross said. "Oh it fits huh ?" Carl laughed. "Many times Uncle Carl but that's not what I mean." Ross said. "I know what you are talking about. I never thought I would meet someone like Max either. We just seem to fit together well. And before you say it smart ass. Yes it fits. Many times." Carl laughed. "I am just afraid I will wake up and it's all a dream." Ross said. "It's no dream my friend. You have a good man there. You are a good man. Together you can make an awesome couple. Besides Uncle Max and I are wanting some more grandkids." Carl said. "We are trying I promise." Ross laughed. "Oh I am sure you are. Max and I just want you to know that we are here for you two. We will do anything we can and that's a promise." Carl said. "I am still not sure what we have done to deserve all of this but I can promise we are greatful." Ross said. "Just always remember if Landon is happy then it will be a happy home. You have to be happy too though." Carl said. "As long as Landon is happy I am happy. That's all that matters." Ross said. "Sounds like my house. Max's happiness is all I care about. You have seen part of what we have gone through. If you love Landon like you say you do then you can weather anything. Just remember that and that sex is not the answer to everything." Carl said. "If we never had sex again as long as Landon stayed with me I would be content." Ross said. "Well let's just hope that doesn't happen." Carl laughed. "Your mouth to God's ear." Ross laughed.
Max and Landon got out of the SUV again across the road. They walked through the wooded area to a small hill on the property. "I hope I didn't upset you with all the recommendations for your house." Max said. "Ross and I will just be living there. It's your house but we don't need all of that." Landon said. "Well hopefully you will live many happy years in this house. Plus Carl and I are hoping for some more little ones running around the house one day." Max said. "I keep telling Ross I can't get pregnant but he keeps trying." Landon laughed. "So you two are not using protection ?" Max asked. "Ross said I was his first and I believe him. I wish he had been my first but it has been a couple of years and I have been tested twice since then. I gave Ross the option. He keeps telling me that he wants to buy a tanker trailer of lube and park it outside and run a hose through the window." Landon laughed. "Oh hell don't let Carl hear him say that. He hasn't thought of that yet." Max laughed.
Max and Landon walked around the small hilltop. "What do you think Landon ?" Max asked. "This is a really nice spot but aren't you wasting a lot of pasture land by putting the house this far back ?" Landon asked. "As much land as this ranch has don't worry about wasting pasture land. We need to put the house on the best spot the land has to offer." Max said. "I am still not sure why you even want my opinion." Landon said. "Well our hope is that you and Ross decide to grow old right here on the ranch. You will be the ones living here. Follow me." Max said.
Max smiled as he heard Landon gasp as they walked through the small thicket of trees. On the other side was a cleared area and a drop off to a small valley. Looking across the opening were more beautiful mountain views. "Since the house will not be seen from the road we won't have to worry about squaring it with the road. If we place it just right then you will be able to have these views from almost every room in the house. Especially the master bedroom and the back yard." Max said. "It is breath taking." Landon said. These trees to the side will stay and a barn will be built beyond them and the pastures. That way you don't see them from the house. You have work area and then home seperate." Max said. "Most don't worry about convenience and privacy on a ranch. It's all about use of space." Landon said. "Well I think by now you have realized that our ranch is a little different." Max laughed. "A little ?" Landon laughed. "Alright it's settled. Bring Ross out here after work before you come to the house and show him where you decided." Max said. "He may want to move it." Landon said. "I saw the way he looked at you. Believe me. As long as you move in it he wouldn't care if it hung off a cliff." Max said. "You really think so ?" Landon said and smiled. "The boy is head over heals in love with you. I just hope you are with him too." Max said. "I am. It's scary but I am." Landon said.
Max and Landon placed some flags on the property. They marked where the house should go and what trees should be removed for the view. "Alright let's run to Flo's for lunch and then you have to meet with Durk and B." Max said. Walking back to the SUV Landon kept looking over his shoulder at the flags. "Are you alright with the choices ?" Max asked. "Um. Yes but I still don't see why my opinion counts." Landon said. "But it does. Never doubt that around here about anything." Max said as he opened the driver's door.
"Well I don't believe it. That cute hunk of yours let you get dressed long enough to go to lunch ?" Flo called out as they walked into the diner. A few of the customers looked up to see who Flo was talking too before looking back at their food. "Flo. Some of your customers may not like to hear that type thing." Landon whispered. "Honey that sign out there still says Flo's. They don't like what I got to say they can put their fork down and get the hell out." Flo said. "Sounds like she means that." Landon said. "She does." Max laughed. " What you want besides a pillow to set on honey because if you don't need that pillow then your boss here needs to give you two a couple more days off." Flo said. "What do you recommend ?" Landon said. "This is Flo's honey. I recommend everything." Flo laughed. "I want a cup of coffee to start out Flo." Max said. "Coming up. What you want honey. You two have company coming for lunch anyway." Flo said. "We are ?" Max said. About that time he heard the bell ring on the door and saw Carl and Ross walking through the door. "Alright you four. You plan on stripping in here and having sex on the tables let me know so I can clear the place out first." Flo laughed.
Lunch went well. Flo had long since lost her ability to embarrass Max but Ross and Landon were fair game. Carl and Max laughed a few times at how red each of the young could turn at times after Flo made comments. "How did it go with the house and the lot ?" Carl asked. "I think it went well. Daryl is drawing up some plans. Landon and I looked at a spot for the house. He is suppose to take you to look at it after work Ross. Then you guys can tell us tonight what you think. " Max said. "Whatever you decide will be fine with us. It's your house." Ross said. "That's true but I told Landon that I hoped that you two had many happy years in that house so it is up to you." Max said. "I told him I didn't understand why they needed our opinion but he wouldn't listen." Landon said. "Oh my husband is good with his selective hearing." Carl said. "Did he just speak." Max said pointing towards Carl. "See what you have to look forward to Ross." Carl laughed. "Well you two take Max's SUV to meet Durk and B. My honey is going with me to finish checking the herd. You can leave it at the barn when you are done. You will need to get your truck from where we left it too." Carl said. "Are you sure about that ?" Ross asked. Both Max and Carl just shook their head in disbelief that Ross would question them.
Ross and Landon arrived at the farmer's house to find Durk and B along with the farmer and his wife setting in the yard watching the construction crew as they worked. "Hello Mr. Durk and Mr. B. It's so good to see you." Landon said as he walked up to shake their hands. B stood up and hugged the young man. "Are you happy here ?" B whispered. "As I could possibly be." Landon whispered. "Good. I had hoped you would." B whispered. "I hear it's you I need to thank." Landon whispered. "Alright you two." Durk said. "Hush you old fart." B said. "I want to thank you both for bringing me here." Landon said. "Not as much as I want to thank you." Ross said. "Pull up a chair. You can watch them nail on the house too." The farmer said. "Oh you will learn soon enough. We have new names around here thanks to the twins. I am Gandpaw and that old one over there is Bpaw." Durk said. "Who you calling old ?" B said. "So we expect you two to either call us Uncle or our new names." Durk said. "I feel a little old to call you Ganpaw. Is Uncle Durk good enough ?" Ross said. "As long as I don't hear mister." Durk said. "The mood he is in today you can call him Uncle Old fart." B said. "And don't you say a word." The farmer's wife said to the farmer as he just smiled and shook his head.
"I have a question that you may want to answer in private." Durk said looking at Landon. "No need for privacy." Landon said. "Son are you happy here ? So you think you will be happy living here ?" Durk asked. "Mr. uh. I mean Uncle Durk. I love your place in Texas but look around. These views. Who wouldn't love living here." Landon said. "What about me ?" Ross laughed. "You are just a bonus." Landon laughed. "That's what I wanted to hear." Durk said. Durk and B sat down with the two young men and talked to them about their plans for the two to travel between there and Texas. They wanted them to help coordinate the transfer of the rest of the herd and some of the equipment that would be coming. They also wanted Landon to make sure that the herd for the higher grade beef that he had been working with was clearly marked so they would be easy to seperate. Durk also discussed which employees of the ranch that Landon felt would want to move with the company and would fit in well at Rexlan ranch. Landon said that most of the employees would probably be glad to stay with the business but he had reservations about one couple. "You know they like to play. They are fairly persistant about playing with any men they can get in their bed. I am afraid they would cause too many problems here. " Landon said. "I know exactly who you are talking about. They tried it with me. Guess they thought they could get to the boss through me." B said. "Well did you take them up on it ?" Durk laughed. "I am too use to you and your old ass. So no." B said in a huff.
"When will all of this start ?" Ross asked. "I am going to talk to Carl and Max tonight. We thought about having you two flown to Texas on Sunday. Take a day or so to get aclimated and start checking things out, felling the employees out and making notes on Tuesday." Durk said. "And if you two don't mind we want you to drive a couple of vehicles back for us. Durk's new Ford F150 and one of mine I guess." B said. "The one you just bought ?" Landon said. "Not yet. I think it would look a little weird to have a new Bentley setting in the tractor barn. The new Mercedes will do." B laughed. "What is a Bentley ?" The farmer's wife asked. "A car that cost more than our farm. House included." The farmer said. "Oh. " she said. "it's not all that. Don't worry you will be driving it to get groceries." B said. "I don't think so. My Buick does just fine." She said. "What's a Buick ?" B said causing the group to laugh. "Well when we first met you were driving and Edsel." Durk said. "Well you were driving a Studebaker that had one of the back doors welded on it so it wouldn't fall off." B said. "What is an Edsel and a Studebaker ?" Ross asked. "Smart ass." B said and laughed. "What ?" Ross said which caused all but he and Landon to laugh.
Ross and Landon showered together. There was just a little playful touching since they still needed to go to the land and look at what Max and Landon had discussed and still make it to the main house in time for supper. In the truck Landon lay his hand on Ross' bare leg as if it were natural. Pulling onto the lot they were able to drive a little bit closer in Ross' truck than they had in Max's SUV. "Are you sure we are suppose to go back this far ?" Ross said. "We still have to walk a short ways." Landon said. Getting out of the truck Landon reached out and took Ross' hand. Walking through a small plot of trees they came to the opening on top of the hill. "This is where Max wants to put the house." Landon said. "Isn't putting it way back here a waste of some good useable land ?" Ross asked. "I said the same thing. Max said this ranch already had enough land. This was not a waste." Landon said. "If he says so." Ross laughed. "You know that we will be living here." Landon said. "I can't wait. I can chase that cute naked ass of yours all over this yard." Ross said. "Cover your eyes." Landon said. Taking Ross' hand and leading him through another small tree growth Landon stopped Ross and turned him with his back facing the mountain range.
"Can you just imagine waking up to this every morning and going to sleep seeing this every night ?" Landon said pulling Ross' hand from his eyes. "I hope to see this for the rest of my life." Ross said looking at Landon. "No dummy. Turn around." Landon said. "HOLY shit." Ross said as he looked out across the mountain range. "Max wants the house turned so that you can see a view like this from almost every room." Landon said wrapping his arms around Ross from behind. Ross pulled Landon's arms free and pulled him around in front of him and pulled Landon's back to his chest. Reaching his arms around Landon and placing his chin on Ross' shoulder.
"Will you be happy sweet heart ?" Ross whispered. "I don't need all this. I just need you." Landon said. Ross reached down and ran his hands through the elastic waist band of Landon's running shorts. "You know one day I plan to slide my hard dick up your sweet ass right where we are standing and make sweet love to you." Ross whispered. "This may be our laundry room right here." Landon laughed. "And your point ?" Ross whispered. Moving his fingers down he searched for the waist band of Landon's underwear. "Ah hell my honey isn't wearing undies." Ross said as he reached further down and cupped Landon's low hanging balls. "I figured it would be quicker undressing when we got home. Is that weird ?" Landon said. "Oh no my love. I love you like this. I can sneak a feel amd noone will know it." Ross whispered. "Well if you don't stop that and we get going we will be late for supper." Landon said. "Want to skip it ?" Ross said. "You want to call Carl and Max and explain why ?" Landon said. "Point taken. Now get that pretty ass in my truck. Oh and loose the shorts until we get there." Ross said as he removed his hands and took Landon's to lead him back to the truck.
The house was in full swing by the time Ross and Landon arrived. The twins almost tackled them at the door. Within a minute Ross and Landon were waving their hellos as they headed to the pile of toys in the middle of the floor. Durk, B, and the farmer sat and watched the four roll around and play on the floor. Landon was careful to make sure nothing fell out of his shorts while tussling with the twins. Daryl came through and without slowing down reached down and pulled Shane up by the waist band of his pants. Shane squealed and squirmed as Daryl held on. "You cared me Pop." Shane laughed. "Oh I did ?" Daryl said as he set the boy on his stomach on the floor and reached down and tickled him. "You didn't care me." Shawn said as he jumped up and ran around behind the couch. "Alright all you kids in here. Supper is on the table." Max said as he entered the room.
Dinner was a mass of conversation all around the table. Ross and Landon helped clear the table quickly. Max had prepared a dessert called a three layer pie. Dessert and coffee were served at the table. "While we are all here I want to have a quick family meeting. First of all I want to appologize to both Ross and Landon for the family meeting that we had last night that did not include them." Carl said. "That will be the last. We are a family and we do things together. That being said I want to explain why you were not included." Max said. "Here we go." Brian whispered. "You can leave the table Brian." Carl said sternly. "What ?" Brian said. "Let me appologize once again Ross and Landon. Brian has issues that do not involve you two but he has already been told of his fate on more than one occassion. You killed the old Uncle Max Brian. Do you really want to test my strength at this point ?" Max said. "No." Brian said.
The table calmed down again and Max and Carl began telling the group again about their plans for the future. Ty sat there listening and as Brian tried to place his hand on Ty's knee it was quickly brushed away. Ross and Landon sat there with their mouths open and in shock. Ross had a high respect for Brian and in the back of his mind understood, he thought, why Brian reacted the way he did. "I hope you understand now Landon why we wanted you so involved in the land and the house. Carl and I both want you and Ross to have many happy years together in that house and a part of this family." Carl said.
Landon looked at Ross and for the first time together Ross was able to read his mind and his expression. "I think that I speak for both Landon and myself when I say that we are honored and overwhelmed to be included in your plans but for the sake of this family that we have grown to love I think we would like to reapectfully give you our resignations. I will be glad to stay and train someone on the herd that I oversee and I feel sure that Landon will be glad to train someone to take over the third herd. I can not sleep at night knowing that I or we caused an issue in this wonderful family. I am greatful for every opportunity that you have offered and especially for bringing this man into my life. We are young and we have our whole lives ahead of us. We are both hard workers so we will forge our own way through life." Ross said. "I agree." Landon said. At that point Landon and Ross stood from the table and kissed each twin on the top of the head. The entire table could see Carl's fury including Brian. "I am sorry Mr. Max but I don't think I can help with the clean up at this point. I am greatful to everyone in this room for opening their arms and making me a member of this family. I am so sorry that me being here has caused tension." Landon said as he took Ross' hand and headed towards the door.
Durk stood and looked at Joe. "Joe can you come with me for a minute ? I need your help." Durk said. Carl turned and looked at Brian. "I see now that your father is so embeded in you that it will never change. At this point I would suggest that you get the FUCK out of my house. I warned you before that I would not stand for your greed. I think it's time you got out of my sight and I don't mean just out of my house. A few states in between us will suit me fine. Oh and just so you know. It's up to Ty if he wants to go with you but you will take those two over my dead body." Carl said and got up and walked out. Brian just sat there with a distant but very angry look in his eyes. B stood up and looked at Brian. "Come with me son." B said. "I'm not your son." Brian spat. "I know you aren't. If you were I would have already beat your ass." B said. "And before you say anything I know Bpaw said a bad word." B said pointing to the twins which caused them both to giggle.
"Hey guys wait up." Joe called as Ross and Landon walked down the driveway. "Where are you going ?" Joe asked. Ross just pulled Landon to his chest. So much had happened in just a short time and then all of a sudden Landon was faced with being unemployed and nowhere to live. It all came flooding out and his body trembled and his tears were uncontrollable. Ross on the other hand was furious at the fact that Landon was made to feel that way. He was use to gut punches in his life but he would not stand for anyone making Landon feel that way. "Why are you leaving your truck ?" Joe asked. "That's Rexlan Ranch truck. Please tell Mr. Max to let me know how much he spent on my car and I will pay him back as soon as I can." Ross said. By this point Joe had reached both young men and wrapped his arms around both of them. Durk had not moved as fast. Finally reaching the group. "Can we go set down somewhere and talk ?" Durk asked. "I appreciate it Mr. Durk but there is really nothing to discuss. Brian was right. I understand where he is coming from. I just hate to think that he or Ty may think that either of us asked for this." Ross said. "There is a lot that you don't know about but I think you need to hear. That's why I asked your Uncle Joe to come with me." Durk said.
"I need to tell you a story." B said as he walked across the pool deck behind Brian. "I don't need your opinion and it's none of your fucking business." Brian said. B grabbed Brian's shoulder. "It may be none of my business but damnit you are going to listen. I am an old man. I have earned enough respect from you to listen to me. And another thing. You ever curse at me again and you will find out just how big the bitch is I carry in my pocket. I will also remind you that the bitch I speak of is filthy fucking rich. I can rock your world with the stroke of a pen like no other so set your sorry ass down and listen." B said. "Where is Ty ?" Brian asked. "Probably inside deciding yours and his future. You have to worry about me at the moment. Now set down." B said.
