Well, personally I doubt clear thinking behind certain novelty gifts.

I used to have a BMBB, I still receive and give novelty gifts on occasion. Me and my son exchange t shirts with weird sayings on them a lot.

Novelty gifts work when the gift giver and the gift receiver share similar tastes and sense of humor.

I've seen what can happen when gift givers totally misread their intended target, lol.

Remember the Hoberman Sphere from the 1990's?
By the next day it just sits in a corner - a perfect example of a "one trick pony".

I agree, I get my son or his girlfriend gifts that relate to their tastes or political views. They got me one of these:

Office Christmas parties are #1 on my list. I've seen quite a few awful sweaters:

I hate novelty gifts mostly because I hate knickknacks and clutter. To me, the giver is an idiot for simply wasting money.

I mean if it is something I like then its ok if it was an after thought junk It'll most likely be given to goodwill or used around the house for a project.

I gave a few of these away for Christmas....kids love them Big kids too

For Halloween....you hide the speaker in some leaves...and when trick or treaters walk by you push the remote button.
