I'd watch out of curiosity. It's not something that would give me enjoyment to watch but it'd be interesting to see.

Interesting because it's Saddam or are you curious about the hanging?
Because it's Saddam. He was once someone so powerful that no one could touch him, and now he's been reduced to taking on the same punishment as those who suffered under his leadership.

My head says no, but I know that I'd watch if it were televised. Remember those videos of beheadings by terrorists that came out about a year ago? I got a link to one in my inbox and I couldn't resist watching. Felt sick to my stomach all day.

So yeah, I think I'd watch. My curiosity would be too great.

why the hell not?? nobody should shed tears for sadam but i find it sad that bush is getting away with his war crimes while sadam hangs for them...so really, there is no justice now is there? or there is some justice but not a hell of a lot...

I would never want to watch anyone die.

I have no urge to watch anyone else die in front of my eyes.

I also don't think this sort of thing is appropriate for broadcast.

for the death and destruction that i witnessed in Iraq?

for Avral and Saida

on any day of the week with both eyes

and i would imagine that many people there feel the same way

it needs to be televised or no one will really believe that it happened

its not about revenge

its about justice and accepting that its really time to move on

I am sick to death of those that would give Islam a bad name and it's time that they die by the same standards that they use to punish the moderate people everywhere.

for every gay man executed, for every jew executed, for every Kurd executed...

a thousand deaths are not enough for Saddam Hussein

i know that this may startle people that i would say this, but i often hide my rage at the monsters of the mideast simply because it is such an internal issue for us all.

I am half persian, and I hat ethe man for everything he has done to the homelands of my mother

I always will feel sick in my soul when i think of him.

I was just going to reply no and I still am because I personally don't like to see anyone killed, but Andreus' post made me reconsider and add the personally bit because I do understand where he is coming from and I think that we should all consider the lives that this man took or ruined, If I was in Andreus' shoes I would probably want to see him tortured as well, which goes completely against my nature.

At the same time I deeply question Bushes "War on terror" Since he started it terrorism has increased to an alarming extent. He failed to understand that not all cultures want or understand the American way and that trying to enforce it was bound to cause resentment leading to more terrorism. He has in fact made the world a much more dangerous place.

I haven't worded this well so please think about what I am trying to say rather than the way I have said it.

IMO he deserves to be hung, but I would not want to witness it - but saying that if it were televised I probably would be tempted to tune in ... I think:confused: ... I'm going to have to remain undecided for now:confused:

The 9-member investigtion has to review the appeal which will definitely happen and they unlimited time to review. So technically and I don't doubt it, they could review indefinitely until he dies of old age.

But if they uphold the ruling, he'll die within 30 days.

I personally don't feel comfortable executing him or almost anyone no matter what they've done. At least not in cold blood and you know it's going to be a celebration which is even more morbid.

I believe in letting a person live shunned and hating their own existance. I guess a living hell. Whether the person kills themselves because of it is noen of my concern at that point. A life of suffering is better than an execution.

as long as he lives he will cause needless death.

one gesture in front of a camera and ten people get executed on the streets of bagdad

he cant even be filmed at his trial without causing the deaths of the innocents.

Saddam Did all those things and still feels justified in doing them.

for him there will be no internal hell

he has no conscience... he is a true sociopath. he needs to go and the people of Iraq need to see it happen.

they will never move on and heal until it does.

i am a raving anti war advocate and i hate murder and death. there are very few things that i think a man needs to be sentenced to death for.

mass genocide will always be one iIMO, because to engage in it you have to be an erevocably broken human being, devoid of conscience and soul.

I myself would not care to watch his execution.

But at the same time I can understand why they would need to show it in Iraq and the Mid-East. Remember when his sons were killed and almost immediately there after they had their corpses on TV? The people of Iraq would probably not have believed that they were indeed dead unless they could see it for themselves. They same thought would apply with Saddam Hussein.

exactly ...

the base even released a statement saying that it was not really them, and that was with pictures of the dead bodies all over the world.

I'm glad he's being hanged, but I don't want to watch it. I don't pity Saddam one bit. I just don't want to see a body, twitching and convulsing on the gallows. If they say that he's be executed, I'll take their word for it.

Hanging?
isnt that kind of primitive in todays society?
are they going to put him in the stocks first and let people pelt him with rotted fruit?
Maybe they could have him floged.

What country is it this is going to happen in anyway?

haha

and the needle is soo much kinder

"did you ever notice that they give you an alcohol wipe before they do lethal injections? wouldn't want you to get a secondary infection, now." Robbin Williams

sorry

a bit of gallows humor !oops!

Saddam is an evil monster responsible for countless deaths and torture.
He deserves to be executed, but I don't want to watch it.
I think televising his hanging would serve to inflame many in the Middle East. Some Iraqi survivors would probably get some satisfaction knowing he is finally finished, but others might consider it unjust because of the invasion and ensuing deaths.
