NRA Tweet This Morning: "Good Morning, Shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend Plans?"

I'm done arguing. Occam's Razor says when you have a lot of guns and more gun deaths per capita than any other country in the first world, guns are responsible for it. If we're going to argue with Occam's Razor, I think it's just too silly.

Occam's says no such thing. Correlation does not equal causation. Increasing numbers of guns in the hands of increasing numbers oif citizens while gun crime diminishes proves your view wrong.

There's something else going on. I think it's the Puritan heritage of antagonism, because antagonism shows in other areas of American life.

And that's where Occam's Razor points: rather than multiply explanations, look for a single one for the different areas where the US is extreme. There's more gun violence, there's more litigation; both are matters of antagonism -- there's one explanation for two things.

Now, how do we go about reducing the spirit of antagonism? I think a good step would be ending the two-party system, which makes everything an "us v them" situation, where antagonism gets glorified.

You're maintaining that people should abandon their weekend plans because some wacko shot some people.

If that were the custom, terrorists could mess this country up so easily, just by paralyzing it with some shootings.

No; I'm maintaining that people should opt to enjoy their weekend plans in a society they have helped to make more secure through disarmament.

and if you want an example of a resolute response to a terrorist attack within a society that does not foolishly arm itself to the teeth, read about 7/7 in the UK.
