Your master boot record was deleted, or perhaps something worse has happened. More or less you'll need to replace that file, which will involve either slaving the drive or running a bootable operating system. I can assist you over yahoo IM or IRC if you like, just send me a PM with what you want to do.

Before you go through replacing missing files and what not, I would try one simple thing first.

Crack open your computer case and check your IDE cable connections. I would re-seat (disconnect then connect again) the IDE connection at the hard drive and the mother board. The IDE cable will be the flat gray cable with a long connector at both ends. If you are using a SATA drive, re-seat the SATA cable.

I've had this problem quite a few times and sometimes it just turned out to be a wonky IDE cable.

Remember, NTLDR does not just randomly delete itself. If you haven't downloaded any viruses or done anything else of that nature, it's probably a simple hardware issue.

Are you sure there's nothing in your cd/dvd drive, or in the usb slots? Depending on your computer's BIOS boot settings, it might just be a dvd or usb memory stick that is booted and won't continue starting up (for whatever reason).

This might also be of some help, "ntldr is missing" in detail (and with a solution): ntfs.com/missing-corrupted-system-files.htm

Sorry about the link. I get some strange message concerning posting URLs once, 25 post, etc etc. I'll have to ask the admins about that.:confused::confused:

We took a look at this issue, system files were missing left and right - and when replaced, continued to disappear afterward. Very likely a malware infection that needed a reinstallation of the OS.
