NY Mets 2015

Especially with all the injuries we have endured. The starting pitching has been unbelievable. Plus, who would've thought that familia was going to be able to step in and be a lockdown closer after mejia was suspended. Great first half, even though our offense is struggling mightily. I'm hoping we can a acquire justin upton, and this is the last year of his deal so we might be able to swing a trade without getting rid of one of our young arms. Padres won't get the value he is worth because of this, if in fact the do decide to sell. And to see Conforto really progressing in Double-A is something to keep an eye on. Wouldn't be surprised to see him up by September. Just hope we don't panic and rush him up. Don't want to fuck up his progression.

Awesome way to end the first half with a four game winning streak, and Capt Kirk smashing 3 HR's in the finale vs the Dbacks. We can only hope some offense will show up in the second half to support the great pitching. Let's Go Mets!!

Still are, Gumby!;)

Well, didn't expect we could win two games back to back with 14-9 scores but hey, our offense is finally picking up the starting staff ! there were occasional bursts during the year but these past two nights with all these extra base hits have been so fun to see! At least the winning results, lol! Cespedes on Friday night was amazing... five hits, three homers, seven RBI, think five runs scored AND a stolen base ! And he was robbed of a sure extra base hit which was ripped, would have given him a sixth hit and the Mets yet another extra base hit, which the past two nights have been really plentiful. Another game tomorrow afternoon and the Mets fly back to the East Coast to play the Phillies in Philadelphia on Monday night with the expected return finally from his back woes of team captain David Wright.

I just wih Sonny were around here to enjoy it with us... he's be thrilled with our 66-56 record and five game lead over the Nationals in the NL East. He's very much missed and hoping he's all right.:(

It might be close but it's going to be hard to catch the Mets. Kind of a disappointing season for the Nats.

Hi. Sausy. How's life?

New York Mets will win the NL East. Where the standings are now I think will pretty much be where they end. NL Central will be won by St. Louis Cardinals (of course!). NL West will be won by Los Angeles Dodgers. AL East will be won by Toronto Blue Jays (going to postseason first time since its second consecutive World Series in 1993!). AL Central will be won, in a landslide, by Kansas City Royals. AL West will be won by Houston Astros.

My home team is Detroit Tigers. I root for them to finish last place in the AL Central, yes, but not only that I want them to finish with the worst win-and-loss record of all fifteen AL teams. (Oakland Athletics is in the league's worst shape. So, go, A's—and win some damn games (while Detroit loses some more)! Get those numbers to fall into place. (Next year for Detroit: Will they go in a better direction?)

Ny Mets with a 4 game lead going into a 3 game series vs the Nats. How many games can the Nats win to catch up..

Hey, Gumby and Cool Blue!

Doing okay Gumby... not great, but things could be worse.

Wish I could be as certain as Cool Blue, as much of a wonderful ride the Mets have been going on I'm still not going to call them division winners. So much can go wrong, and as we Mets fans have learned starting with losing the NL championship series to St. Louis in 2006, it does in some really painful ways. However the way they are playing, especially with Cespedes in the lineup and after games like tonight which are statement type games.. huge seventh inning after coming back from a five run Jon Niese meltdown in the fourth inning.. can't bet against them either. Hope for the best and hell to the yeah enjoying the ride for as long as we can push it!

Really surprised by just how bad Detroit has fallen... I wonder too Cool Blue if they have seen better days. If Verlander cannot get his groove back, going to be ugly. Funny how soon after getting huge deals both Verlander(who has in his defense been hurt) and Washington's Max Scherzer (really underperforming in the second half after a lights out opening of the season) have failed to pitch like the aces they are paid. Big money for pitchers not named Clayton Kershaw it seems is just wasted money indeed.

It's been an "Amazin'" season, even by Mets standards, so far. The underperformance by the Nats along with the growth shown by Mets pitchers and the deadline trades have made the Mets a really formidable team. Let's see them carry it thru to the end of the season! Let's go Mets!!

Wtf. That was an ugly game. That should end the Nats season.

Now Nats have a six game lead in the NL East....

After having a 7-1 lead the Nats bullpen implodes. Giving up 7 runs. (6 in the top of the 7th)
Mets win 8-7.

Wednesday game. DeGrom vs Strasburg.

Magic Number #1 to win the National League pennant.. bummed though because sonny has dropped off the face of JUB and I hope he's okay and really enjoying this. It's been nine long years... and for Mets fans we mean nine LONG years. Two collapses, injuries, lousy play, developing farm system, some daring trades this season and now the Mets are any combination of 1 Mets win and/or 1 Washington loss from being division champions again, and daring to dream onward!

Yep, Gumby! So happy about this season, been nine years since we last went to the playoffs and between then and now the Mets fans have been put through the ringer but things just came together and the trade deadline deals that brought us Juan Uribe, Kelly Johnson, Tyler Clippard and especially Yoenis Cespedes really proved the Mets were all in this year and since then we've played like a 67% win percentage which fueled our lead and left Washington in the dust. Classy thing by Bryce Harper to wish the Mets luck and to win the World Series.

So happy for David Wright after all he has been through validating his decision to see it through onto beter and brighter days and re-up with the Mets when he just could have said it was time to go. He said it Saturday after the clinching that he bleeds Mets orange and blue and is so happy especially for his teammates and for the Mets fans who have been so patient and deserving of a strong playoff team. Fitting his three run homer in the ninth inning in Cincinnati was the icing on the cake certifying the clinching and putting an exclamation point on his joy and appreciation of being part of this Mets team, putting the Mets to a 10-2 lead. Also so nice to see thousands of Mets fans who made the trip just to be part of this amazing run and support their boys.

So great for Terry Collins as well, the guys seem to all love him and he is fiercely loyal and supportive. First time as a manager he ever saw the playoffs after two dreadful situations with the Angels and Astros. He was intense and too combative back in those days but his years afterwards in developing farm systems, especially with the Mets organization, matured him into a true professional who remained passionate but learned how to channel frustrations much better and really become a strong communicator and leader towards his players. Is he the best tactical in game manager? No, but he has some really inspired moments and his faith in his players, his unyielding support and respect in the clubhouse has to be considered as well.

Thanks to Sandy Alderson who knew just when to go all in right before the trade deadline and made a couple of really god additions which laid the foundation to fuel the pennant stretch effort with the Uribe/ Johnson and Cespedes deals. Also adding Tyler Clippard as well when there were to many injuries and questions regarding the Mets bullpen.

Lucas Duda has really gone into another out of this world power streak and Curtis Granderson's average may not be great in the mid .250's but his walks, doubles, home runs and clutch hitting overall in the leadoff spot have been incredibly valuable this season. Daniel Murphy has had a few injury stretches but has been magnificent in the last few weeks at the plate. The Irish Hammer has 38 doubles, tied his career high with 13 homers, and just shows he's a professional who is solid and dependable, and really feels god to see his hard work being rewarded with his first trip to the playoffs. Michael Conforto already looks like an old pro in his rookie year with good power and even more impressive ability to hit to the opposite field, and has done a really good job defensively as well. Travis d'Arnaud has made great strides this year again after battling injuries with his power, most impressively to the opposite field. And again have to mention captain David Wright.... missed so much of this season recovering from spinal stenosis and the expectations were very muted once he came back but he has looked really good lately and seems to have few if any visible ill effects from his back problem, which does need constant monitoring but as he's showing doesn't mean his career is near over.

So many making contributions.... Wilmer Flores has been kind of quiet at the plate lately but he did some real damage in critical games, as even Ruben Tejada and Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who was out of the Mets organization earlier in the year traded to the Angels, til released by them and finding his way home to the Mets. Michael Cuddyer now that his knee is better from a earlier season frustrating bone bruise has shown flashes of his veteran clutch ability.

Matt Harvey showed heart and determination in yesterday's clinching game.. not his best effort but walked no one, struck out six and where people were expecting him to leave after only five innings, perhaps less and continue to restrict innings as he comes back from Tommy John surgery.. he and Terry Collins determined he would go close to 100 pitches and that took him six and two thirds innings. Matt took a lot of heat for agent Scott Boras' infamous bleating about limiting his innings to 180, as per recommended by noted surgeon Dr James Andrews but the guy wants to be in there giving his all for as long as he can and proved his toughness and heart by taking the bull by the horns and giving the Mets a very professional effort. Nine hits were a lot but they were scattered, and after giving up twoi runs early whenever he needed to make the tough pitches he did unfailingly.
Noah Syndegaard has also showed he's a beast on the mound, an Jacob de Grom has been returning to form and making it look easy again after a few shaky outings. Jonathan Niese is going to the bullpen because o f his left handedness and even though he was one of the few shaky spots in recent weks his last two starts, especially his most recent one, have been much better... much more like the dependable if unspectactular lefty we have known from previous years. Steven Matz returning from a pulled lat muscle has given a god overall impression and all he needs is healthand consistency but the talent and stuff are there. And next year come after the All Star break we get Zack Wheeler back hopefully as good as ever from Tommy John surgery.

After previous closer Jennry Mejia foolishly, recklessly screwed the Mets and himself again with yet another ban for chemical aid usage just as the season was about under way last year's valuable set up man, Jeurys Familia, stepped up as close and did wonderfully.. didn't miss a beat. Nice to se him get the last out as a swinging strike and the celebrations started with everyone on the field.

I just want to say as happy as I am about our Mets that this year has been kind of rough here not having Sonny around truy to enjoy this amazin' season. I've tried to message him here and I gather others who post or view here may have done the same.. no reply all year and I hope Sonny is okay. It's unthinkable he would miss this for the world, though maybe there are private concerns that haven't allowed him to return here. At least I hope that's all it might be.. I want him to be all right.

This is just the first step however hopefully the Mets will continue their strong play and win home field advantage over the first playoff challengers they must face, the LA Dodgers. It's such a thrilling, happy recap to Mets fans who have been waiting since 2006 and the devastating collapses of 2007 and 2008. Hope some of those fans here keep reading and posting and let's enjoy the ride as far as it will take us!

Mets beat the Dodgers in the fifth and deciding game of a five game divisional championship series to get to the NLCS! In a thrilling 3-2 victory in LA, Jacob de Grom and Daniel Murphy led the effort. Jacob wasn't sharp early giving up two quick round but settled in and did what he usually does when his stuff isn't at it's sharpest.. he showed poise, calm and masterful pitching talent managing to work his way through six innings giving up no further runs on six hits, three walks and seven strikeouts. He was helped by a dominating inning of relief pitched by Noah Syndegaard including two strikeouts and a shut the door ninth by closer Jeurys Familia. Offense was powered by Daniel Murphy who had three hits, including a double and the big tie breaking homer in the seventh off of Zach Greinke. Murph however really got things spaeked a few innings earlier when he manufactured a run by stealing a base and getting in position to be driven in byTravis d'Arnaud. Daniel also drove in Curtis Granderson with a double and showed everyone that despite his flaws as a fielder and sometimes on the baes, and he does tend to be streaky at the plate... but few are equipped with passion and tough mindedness as Murph. I do hope the Mets hold on to him for a few more years as he is eligible for free agency following the season. I just wish I knew Sonny was doing well and really enjoying this, we're back in the NLCS after nine years and now it's time starting Saturday to bring on the surprising and formidable Cubbies. Could be an incredible series!

Mets up three games to none over the Cubs. Murph cranks ANOTHER homer and DeGrom, Clippard, and Familia shut down the Cubs. One victory away from the World Series!! Let's go Mets!,

THANK YOU SYAM!!!!!! Pretty lonely around here lately, nice to see one of the longtime Mets fans posting again! Murph is on fire!!!!!!!!!! Also saw DWright, Cespedes make some big contributions, and damn if Wilmer's drive didn't get caught in the Wrigley vines!!!!!! Would have been at least another run. de Grom keeps showing even if he isn't lights out like game 1 of the Dodgers series, he has a very mature approach and very good command of his secondary pitches and only allowed two runs(including the Schwarber shot) and four hits to the Cubs. Steven Matz goes tonight so let's close it with a sweep and look forward to getting to the World Series! Can you believe it, guys???????????!!!!!!!!!!!! Sonny, if you're out there...this is for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been waiting since 2006 to say this.. New York Mets, NL Champions! We're going to the World Series starting next Tuesday and it was a sweet ride getting to this point. So happy for al the guys especially David Wright whose faith in re-upping with the Mets when everyone would have understood leaving the organization as a free agent after 2012 but who grew up loving the blue and orange since childhood(the Mets AAA club played in his home area of Norfolk, Virginia for a number of years)and being drafted and playing for them. Especially with the spinal stenosis diagnosis that kept him out until August and created doubts whether he could ever be a solid contributor anymore, no less one of the best at third base. He proved he still has game in him, and even when not hitting he played a strong third base or took walks like yesterday and scoring big runs. Daniel Murphy, too...my what a series! 7 homers now in the playoffs in less than 40 at bats? Simply "AMAZING"! And Sandy Alderson whose approach was vindicated despite lots of criticism... and of course to manager Terry Collins whose first ever playoff run now includes an opportunity to win the World Series! Touching interviews with him after the game, really after two very unsuccessful stints as a manager in Anaheim and Houston went into the minor league systems and did a lot of work and learned patience and ho to communicate with players. When in 2011 he received what he knew was his last shot to prove himself as a manager, he never stopped working hard and supporting his players and staying optimistic and it proved here in the postseason he's a damn good manager.. and most importantly has the love and respect of his clubhouse. He fights for and cares for his players deeply and you can tell how much he means to them and vice versa. Great job everyone getting us to the World Series... and whatever happens the Mets have given us a season to remember for years and years. And if you are out there Sonny, and I truly hope you are... I'm so happy for you and for everyone who reads and posts in this thread as a Mets supporter. We couldn't taste the World Series even in 2006, when the St. Louis Cardinals proved too much in the NLCS. However, now we're here!!!
