Depending on timing, an actual JUB meetup event anywhere east of the Rockies MIGHT be doable for me. It's been far too long since such an event happened.
The 2013 (2014?) NY City meet spent part of Saturday at the WTC Memorial. One person experienced quite a catharsis there. I consider myself to have been incalculably fortunate to be there and experience this, and I definitely felt a very heavy and profound sense of what he was feeling.

But, as with the lack of JUB events since the mid-10s, I've noticed other hobby and affiliation groups not meeting up as often. In a hobby related to radio, there used to be three national meets every year. These aren't big organizations, and the largest-known attendance at any was 82 in 1973, in Indiana. All three organizations still exist, but now there is one combined meet per year (usually in the Far West, dammit), and there was a year (besides 2020) with none. This one-meet-combined thing has been true since around 2014.
Two years ago I looked around Meetup in "all the big cities" for cuddling groups (gay OR mixed gender), or gay men's massage exchange groups, and I found a lot of groups that haven't met since 2019. When I checked, the pandemic was long-since finished, though COVID is still out there, guys! Plerase be careful.
I would love to see somebody in JUB defy this apparent trend, and put a meet together. I would almost certainqly attend one in New York City, or within similar distance of Chicago.
But how many other people would?
