Not much to say really, stuff like this makes me so incredibly angry... It's these senseless acts of pure inexplicable hatred that sometimes make me think I could harm another human being if pushed hard enough.

That might be a little excessive. but I do think every one should know how to protect themselves. Be that Brass Knuckles, Pepper Spray, a hand gun, Martial Arts, but what ever choice you make for yourself, the most important thing is situational awareness. Be mindful of who and what is around you. Pay attention to where you are. Know where you can go for assistance. These attacks are not just going to stop because of marriage equality. In fact I believe they will increase as more states come on board with Marriage Equality, because the people doing these attacks will become more afraid that they are becoming marginalized. Marriage equality is a carrot, we need to be fighting for full equality under the law. We need to be fighting all discrimination, Marriage, Employment, Violent Crimes, and Housing. We need to make these fights all inclusive, because as long as their is discrimination against any one group, there is discrimination against all groups.

I might be squeamish about carrying weapons, but I can't see any reason why not if they are defensive. Are tasers legal? Here are a few possibilities:

My .357 could shoot shot rounds. In a just society, I'd be allowed to load them with rock salt for defense.
