Yep, that's right; we're going to talk about food.

So, who here likes food? I mean really likes to eat to the point that it's almost a hobby or even an obsession. Think about it: humans are the only species on the planet (that I know of, correct me if I'm wrong) that makes such a fuss about what they eat, why they need to eat it, and how to make it taste better. We make thousands of dishes, using thousands of different ingredients, and eat them in a thousand different ways.

With me it's almost like a good jack-off session. I enjoy eating just to eat, taste, and smell good food. I also enjoy eating different things, like chocolate covered ants, exotic animal meats, and food from cultures I've never even heard of. It's an adventure to try new things.

Do you hate it when people constantly look at nutritional values, count calories, and otherwise ignore foods when they could be missing out on some great experiences? What foods do you enjoy more than you should? Where are all of you food fanatics?

Also, people seem to think that if you like food a lot, then you're probably morbidly obese. Not true; I love food and I'm only slightly overweight. Depends on metabolism.

Food is amazing. I want to attempt to be a Chef and a Massage therapist. Exotic foods are really fun to try, the first "exotic" food I've ever eaten was Sushi and Im practically addicted to it. I LOVE sushi and I LOVE sashimi they're both amazing.

I cook almost every day and have collected my own original recipes that I intend to publish some time in the near future - once I collect enough photographs. I shop at lots of different markets to get unusual ingredients, and fortunately I seldom have trouble finding whatever I want in Los Angeles. I also have my own Meyer lemon, lime, orange, mango, and fig trees. Mangoes will be ripe soon - this was a good year because it was so hot here this summer.

@JDsmagik
was that supposed to be a turn off? I know there's some redneck down in Georgia saying "Holy shit, that looks good!"

I'll try anything once, no matter how disgusting it looks and no matter the nutritional - or lack thereof - value.

I regularly watch shows on the Food Network channel about the strange things people eat.

Hey!!! Do we georgians HAVE to be rednecks?

Why don't you try some homemade peach cobbler and some sweet tea, city boy :rotflmao:

Hey, I have relatives in Georgia that live in a small town (more like village) called Gibson. They're about as southern as you can get. My uncle Willy even has a confederate flag in his front yard and is missing a few teeth.

I love Southern food, too, like Red Velvet Cake, and grits, and I even tried pig's feet an chitlins(sp?) once. Every time I go to a restaurant I always have sweet tea, and I love peaches, especially white peaches, because I have an Aunt that owns a peach orchard in South Carolina.

Ewww... well, when you said you loved food, you sure as hell meant it.

After just smelling chitlins being prepared, i was not about to pass that shit thru my lips...

Gibson, huh? I'm not even about to go looking for that on a map.

It's near Augusta (I'm sure you've heard of that) and it's in Glascock County. There's only 1 stoplight in the city, and only one major intersection. It's one of those 1001 little towns where everyone knows everyone else's business, the police office is little bigger than a phone booth, and they have 1 gas station owned by the guy whose wife owns the dinner across the street.

I'll try anything once, but I tried one bite of chitlins and I couldn't even swallow it.

You missed one: Humans are the ONLY creatures that cook their foods!

That's why Humans have enormous range of diseases compared to other creatures.

Thankies!

Not that I really care. If we haven't killed ourselves off in the last million years I don't think cooking our food will kill us now. On the other hand if we never cooked our food we'd all die of food poisoning and salmonella anyways.

I will have to defend the south here. Since I came to Georgia and, now, North Carolina, I have realized that the southerners have some kick ass vittles. I am not a foody, by any stretch, but I do enjoy eating down here more than almost anywhere. (Except fresh seafood on the waterfront in Halifax, that is.) I even like grits.

I travel all over the south now, and really, really enjoy southern cooking - especially the regional specialties (like SC low-country seafood which is almost as good as Canadian). Tex-Mex in Houston is to die for (The Cadillac Cafe on Dallas / Shepherd. Oh yeah! )

Sweet tea I still can't wrap my mind around, though. Tea is supposed to be hot, and sipped.

The best food is raw cock nestled in a bed of
pubic hair, and it tastes a lot like raw oysters, and needs no cooking or waiting. My it does taste good.
Shep+

There was a Wife Swap on TV this week (or last) that had one family who only ate raw food, including raw chicken that they slaughtered themselves. When forced to suddenly eat cooked food, they became sick, or so they said. The family who had been eating cooked food did not become sick when forced to eat raw food. I like the idea of raw food, but I guess I'm addicted to the flavor of cooked food, but I do love sashimi!

I saw that episode. They got sick because their bodies weren't used to the types of bacteria in cooked foods.

SUSHIMI!!!!

My family and I eat out at one of several sushi restaurants at least once a week.

I generally watch what I eat. But I also allow myself to eat what I want in moderation.

My personal weakness. . .

I feed my dogs a Raw diet, partially anyway. 'tis (arguably) better for them, and I've seen great results.

I eat a lot of raw foods, except meats. Steak, though, has to be very rare for me to be able to eat it. I can't abide overcooked meat. And I try to avoid processed foods when I'm preparing my own food.
