Obama Ads Go Gay In TX, OH

He stated it IN the forum, and if it were false, they would've corrected him. It's why he was able to choose when he wanted to come out. Obama has been openly in support of gay rights since the beginning of the campaign, and has spoken out against homophobia long before he was even running.

as hillary has been so i dont understand the point your trying to make.

as hillary has been so i dont understand the point your trying to make.

The point I made from the beginning is that Hillary is no more in support of gay rights than Obama is. And Obama isn't the one that made an ambiguous statement as to whether homosexuality was immoral or not.

well i see ur point now but lets be honest lets say obama wanted to make gay marriage legal in every single state, or some other huge act to benefit us. is it really gonna mater in the long run ? i kinda look at it like that

Well, she isn't shy about saying it's time to go beyond DADT.

To DADC?

and once again do you know this for a fact? before the first debate hillary sent out infos from her official myspace stating her thoughts, and opinions on that issue. if he did come out about it a long time ago sorry then i retract what i said. but as far as i know she was the first to even mention it.

Just for information's sake:

Note that in the second one it's reported that he wants to end DADT.

If he wanted to make "gay marriage" legal I'd fight him every step of the way.
Most Americans consider marriage a sacred thing. Even having it written into the law is establishment of religion. It needs to be eliminated and replaced with "civil union" or something for everyone -- and yes, I include polygamists and other sorts, because they have freedom of association as much as the rest of us.

"Barry Goldwater said, "You don't have to BE straight to SHOOT straight."
Hillary Clinton.

I would have loved to have been there to hear this, because this is very uncharacteristic of a politician to make such bold statements like this ... saying he would rather have a "dead son than a gay son" and saying something like this in a public place.

I didn't say these comments came from Obama.

As I understood, as well. It was a guy in the church that Obama attends.

"Barry Goldwater said, "You don't have to BE straight to SHOOT straight."
Hillary Clinton.

So does that mean that Dick Cheney...um...?

Stern called the coordinated buy “the icing on the cake” in terms of the Obama camp’s outreach to the gay community in Ohio and Texas. “It’s a direct appeal to LGBT voters asking for their support,” he said…

If that's the icing on the cake, where's the cake?

Can anybody cite a single piece of legislation, or anything substantive, Obama has done for the gay community in his entire adult life?

There may be icing but there's no cake -- which is pretty much a good description of Barack Obama.

I get The Advocate. Hillary's had ads in there too. So what?

More importantly, not very long ago The Advocate ran a cover story about Hillary:

|| Cover Story ||

The Object of Our Affection

Her husband let us down, she won’t support marriage equality, but still we can’t stop dreaming about Hillary. Sean Kennedy sits down with the front-runner for the White House and finds out what’s keeping the romance alive.

From The Advocate October 9, 2007

... Nevertheless, it’s Clinton whom gay voters are carrying the torch for this campaign season. While Edwards has been accused by a former political strategist of saying he’s uncomfortable around gay people—and often looks that way discussing LGBT issues, in stark contrast to his magnificent wife—and Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, and Bill Richardson just seem out of touch (and forget Chris Dodd and Joe Biden, who didn’t show up at the HRC-Logo forum), she’s the one who captured our hearts long ago, and neither of us will let go. Only Obama has cast a similar spell, but as much as he’s called a “rock star” (so cliché!), it’s Hillary who’s the true megawatt one-named wonder of fame -- and Obama’s record on gay issues pales in comparison to hers. ...

Weren't you paying attention in civics class Twisted? The president can only ask that laws be written, he can't write them. And to get one written to make Gay marriage universal would have to come about as a Constitutional amendment, by Congress, and be ratified by a majority of individual states passing it in a general election. Something that is extremely difficult to get done, and probably not doable in the current climate of evangelical hatred against gays.

Any presidential proclamation to benefit gays such as the current military Don't Ask, Don't Tell situation, would more than likely cause another uproar and lead to another stupid compromise just as Clinton tried to use his power as POTUS to impose the privilege of being able to serve in the military while openly gay. The country is writhing in hatred for us, so don't get your hopes up, it's not going to happen.

How Democratic of you Kuli.:=D:

This is the most reasonable well thought out and constitutional post from you in a long, long time.:=D: :=D: :=D:

I watch the video on LOGO and he side stepped the question on gay marriage and seemed to dismisse the guy for asking the question from the start. He never answered the question on his states for gay marriage and saying the a he has fights all americans have rights, he is not saying that he believes to men have the right to be married.

I would love to see the day when a politian is asked a direct question, that they give a direct answer. Even if it is gonna piss some people off, I would have more respect for them because they were honest and find their speeches about integrity more believable. But he gives a watered down verison of an answer.

Hillary Clinton has given direct answers.

This YouTube is of a right wing Christian radio show where the hosts are opposed to gay rights, but they play a clip at the start of the video of Hillary Clinton clearly and directly stating her position about same sex marriage, civil unions and other gay rights issues.

The big three of religions are all very openly anti-gay. All three are guilty of quietly imparting a message of hostility and even hate where gay/lesbian individuals are concerned. The big three have more blood dripping from their "religious" hands than did the Nazis and all their acts of terror and horror. In fact, I strongly suspect that most of the higher-ups in the Nazi party attended a Christian church on a regular basis. Sad, but I suspect it to be true.

Would you have also fought the Supreme Court "every step of the way" for striking down anti-miscegenation laws during the 60s? After all, most Americans at the time considered marriage - to members of the same race - just as sacred.

This is so true. We'd all be a lot better off if we recognized marriage has two elements: the state sanctioned license, and the ceremony. All people who want to commit and form a union should be able to get a state marriage license and all the benefits and responsibilities that go along with that. Then if they want to have a ceremony to "sanctify" their union they should go to the willing church of their choice.

Look... I would much rather a pro-gay candidate equivicate on gay marriage in order to get elected, than to have them go down with the ship in a doomed cause.

Maybe that's an unpopular position... but I've said before that its a fight that needs to happen on the local level for the most part, and it needs to be well thought out -- part of that includes choosing the right place and time.

This, in light of Obama turning from his pledge about campaign financing and his lie about having passed legislation to ensure reporting of nuclear radioactive leaks, is troubling:

Just as important, I have been listening to what all Americans have to say. I will never compromise on my commitment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans. But neither will I close my ears to the voices of those who still need to be convinced. That is the work we must do to move forward together. It is difficult. It is challenging. And it is necessary.

Sounds like he's going to support us ... unless "those who still need to be convinced" talk him out of it.

With friends like that, may as well elect a Republican. No thanks.

The Ring Wing nuts are already pissed about this.

Conservative journo Kevin McCullough ain’t down with Barack Obama, especially now that Obama’s penned an open letter to gay voters.

Obama supporters have tried to silence me claiming that he was never the radical activist for the homosexual lobby that I always knew him to be, but now he has proven me right - and his blinded sheep following him like lemmings over the edge of the cliff are now faced with a choice. A radical liberal activist (supporting homosexual behavior) who supports the most radical redefinition of the basic family structure in the history of the world… or John McCain.

Decisions, decisions…

This newpaper ad has gone "viral" in the gay community.

Taking our money is okay but doesn't want his picture taken with someone who supports us.

Just more of the same Obama Hypocrisy.

Obama doesn't support gay marriage. Gay marriage is Newsom's signature issue. Why would he want to send the message that he supports gay marriage, when he doesn't?

What I'd like to know is why Hillary Clinton isn't sure if homosexuality is immoral or not.
