Obama will do like all other politicians. Use the gay constituency to get elected then throw them under the bus when push comes to shove. Remember the crap with Bill Clinton.

Weren't you paying attention in civics class Twisted? The president can only ask that laws be written, he can't write them. And to get one written to make Gay marriage universal would have to come about as a Constitutional amendment, by Congress, and be ratified by a majority of individual states passing it in a general election. Something that is extremely difficult to get done, and probably not doable in the current climate of evangelical hatred against gays.
Any presidential proclamation to benefit gays such as the current military Don't Ask, Don't Tell situation, would more than likely cause another uproar and lead to another stupid compromise just as Clinton tried to use his power as POTUS to impose the privilege of being able to serve in the military while openly gay. The country is writhing in hatred for us, so don't get your hopes up, it's not going to happen.
Would you have also fought the Supreme Court "every step of the way" for striking down anti-miscegenation laws during the 60s? After all, most Americans at the time considered marriage - to members of the same race - just as sacred.
You're imputing to me the opposite of the position I stated.
No, I'm not. Fighting "every step of the way" to stop marriage equality for gays is completely different than fighting to remove heterosexual marriage from the law. If the latter were your only aim, you'd be ambivalent about the former.
