A new poll out today by Associated Press-GfK has President Obama's approval rating at 60%. http://www.hanfordsentinel.com/article_e4a3ab92-7bf4-11e0-a9cf-001cc4c002e0.html

One would think this might make the Republicans slightly less insane. Bad news for them, though. It's about 17 months until the election, a life-time in politics. However, poll numbers like this will likely keep any electable Republicans out of the race.

he's been creeping up in the polls for a week now. people are slowly deciding they like the way he's handled the Osama thing and national security.

That with oil prices dropping and a seven month positive job growth record? I think it's mattering.

I also think that Trumpo the Clown's implosion at the hands of the Birthers pushed people away from the GOP. He made the mainstream GOP look like the loony bin. I think people are questioning ALOT of their lies right now.

That can't have helped their cause.

Seriously? Take a look at the AP "random" sampler. The majority of those polled were registered Democratics!

majority as in more than fifty percent?

majority as in this is reflective of the nations make up? You must be aware that there are more registered democrats in america than republican, right?

can you give me a link or quote to what you are mentioning so I can read it and see what you are trying to say?

thanks ..|

As far as this bump in the polls goes, it's going to go away in a fairly short while. Look what happened with George H.W. Bush, after the tremendous victory in the Gulf War in 1991. That was also the first half of the third year of his first term. His numbers went to 89 percent positive and by election day they were 29 percent. And that was in the middle of a very mild recession.

Churchill was kicked out of office less than two months after the surrender of Nazi Germany. Japan hadn't even surrendered yet. These victories will give you a little bit for a short while.

And that was in the middle of a very mild recession.

Big difference though. That was on the downswing of the recession. We are already on the upswing of the last one, by election day 2012 the economy should be even better than now.

What palemale, along with the liberal media, have purposely failed to mention, was that the poll was heavily skewed Democrat. It’s pretty easy to get Obama to 60% when Republicans are undersampled by almost half.

Two thoughts for non-Republicans:

1. "Never underestimate your opponent." - Machiavelli
2. "Dewey Defeats Truman" - famous newspaper headline.

Okay, three:

3. Please vote - 11/6/12! ;)

Here's a pdf of the breakdown of that poll: http://www.ap-gfkpoll.com/pdf/AP-GfK...1_POLITICS.pdf

Uh, 38% identified as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 23% as liberal.

However, the breakdown party-wise is 46% Democratic, 29% Republican, and 24% Independent/Don't Know (seriously? You don't know? Morons...)

So, I don't get what the complaints are. As I proved using NC state board of elections, this Southern state has more Democrats, but it tends to vote Republican nationally, for reasons that make not one goddamn bit of sense. Oh, that's right, because that's the talking point as provided by Ed Morrissey, an idiot buffoon who wrote this: http://hotair.com/archives/2011/05/1...pling-goes-to/ His argument that "Republicans are undersampled" somehow skews toward Obama's favor makes no sense when so many polled lean conservative.

Any poll that oversamples self-identified members of a political party by 17% is not a poll worth wiping your ass with. Someone can still be identified as 'conservative' and be a democrat. (and support the president) The conservative/liberal/moderate numbers don't mean a damn thing, especially with the numbers on what party the respondents identify themselves as belonging to.

That ^ is a better poll than the GFK nonsense.

I myself was tempted to post something like this.

Overconfidence and complacency are very dangerous and I'm seeing way too much of that in Obama fans...

LMAO! Of course any good news about Obama gives Republican JUBs apoplexy. Where Laikia is getting his [strike]bitching[/strike] talking points at FOX News, has these choice comments:

Can someone run a legitimate poll please . I thnk Fox should run one as AP is skewed . I don't knoe where AP gets there polls done but i'll bet there are lots of welfare involved . Please run a straight up poll so we can get some honest results .

I don't care what the polls say. I will be very surprised if Obama even gets on the Democratic ticket to run in the next election. We already know he isn't qualified. We already know he is a Liar. We already know he doesn't know a thing about being a President. Anyone that needs one Billion dollars to run a campaign to get elected for another four years certainly can't be a good candidate. A vote for Barry is a vote against America. You should move to another country if you are even considering voting for the usurper because you don't give a dam for this country.

No surprise there....when the libs can't win by facts they invariably turn to lies, spin or finger pointing.

His actual approval rating is around 30%~!!! Yet the LSM try and prop him up! This is truly propaganda~!!!

Rules for Radicals! America will win because good wins over evil! We surround them

Has anyone noticed the ,gov websites popping up on cable, satellite, and broadcast television - these are Obama websites promoting Obama agendas and campaigning for votes in 2012 - all targeting kids/young adults??? Is this legal?!?!? - should it be investigated since it is taxpayer funded??!?!?!?

LMAO! These people are nuts.

I love it when heads explode.

I was at Gallup.com, and decided to look at President Barack Obama's job-approval percentage and note how his predecessors performed at this point in their first term.

Pollings began in or around the World War II era, so I wanted to focus on those who won the presidency after World War II. I also wanted to break it down into those who were elected to two terms. And I found that—with Obama having reached 840 days (120 weeks)—the president is faring similarly to Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton.

Two-term presidents:
05.12.1955–05.17.1955 • Dwight Eisenhower 68%
05.14.1971–05.17.1971 • Richard Nixon 50%
05.13.1983–05.16.1983 • Ronald Reagan 43%
05.11.1995–05.14.1995 • Bill Clinton 51%
05.02.2003–05.08.2003 • George W. Bush 69%

Since we can't count John Kennedy (assassination) and Lyndon Johnson (opted not to run for a second full term)—and Gerald Ford (never elected to the presidency and vice presidency)—it leaves two who won one full term but were defeated in bid for a second: Jimmy Carter and George Bush. Carter, at this point, had 32%; Bush was at 77%. Inflation was bringing down Carter; recession hadn't yet hurt the score for Bush. (At the end of October 1991, his job-approval number was 59%; in mid-Oct. 1992, that came down to 34%.)

As for the 44th president…

05.02.2011–05.08.2011 • Barack Obama 51%

I'll leave those willing to respond to this info free to interpret it (without my doing so first).

I doubt Republicans can win. The only thing they are doing and will be able to run on is social issues: guns, god, gays. The Republican party is using and doing the same thing it did in 2000.

And look what happened then. Fortunately, none of the republican candidates so far have a chance in hell of beating Obama. But, that just means Obama needs to be on his toes to make sure that he will win with a resounding majority.
