Now Michelle Obama wants to get into the act.

Democrats who reluctantly slashed a food stamp program to fund a state aid bill may have to do so again to pay for a top priority of first lady Michelle Obama.

The House will soon consider an $8 billion child nutrition bill that’s at the center of the first lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative. Before leaving for the summer recess, the Senate passed a smaller version of the legislation that is paid for by trimming the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps.

The proposed cuts would come on top of a 13.6 percent food stamp reduction in the $26 billion Medicaid and education state funding bill that President Obama signed this week.

I guess she does not care about the poor.

Remember, the money cut isn't for another 2 or 3 years in the program so there's plenty of time to stick it on the defense bill and dare the Republicans to vote against it.

Additionally, the OP refuses to acknowledge that Republicans have been screaming out in lamentations, weeping, wailing, and gnashing their teeth, over claiming they would vote for things "if only it didn't increase the deficit". Yet it doesn't increase the deficit, and yet typical lying Republicans they still didn't vote for it.

This bill was paid for to save 319,000 teachers, fire fighters, EMTs, police officers, and other public safety jobs that were facing imminent layoffs. Of course wingnuts don't want to talk about those 319,000 people who will still have jobs and be able to feed their families.

I'm not too much a fan of the whole reverse Robin Hood scenario either. Obama is just another puppet who will be seen in time as a fraud. He will go the way of Bush and others who were also about more power and more control for major corporations and less freedoms for the common man and woman.

Knowledge is Power. If we can understand what the elite's plans are, we can curtail their agenda. We need to have a healthy mistrust for the government which has been seized in a coup by the CIA. This fact is simply a minor footnote of tyranny that we must face in the years to come. It is better to realize this now rather than face it unexpectedly later, all the while wishing this information was still around so that you might have some chance to stand under the full oppression later on.

It is wisdom that can imagine and foresee the consequences of the future based on the past of humanity which does repeat but it is utter blindness and denial that will ignore warnings that will allow people by the masses to all but dig their own graves and craft their own tombs. If we make our own beds, we better be prepared to sleep in it the way we made it. It is the responsibility of all human beings to understand what is truly happening and then do something to stop this mess.

I'm surprised you're talking about this when the real issue is that any states that take the money for education are not allowed to cut funding for at least 2 years, and have to maintain their funding level even though the borrowed money will have long run out. That fact is going to make it very difficult for states that actually need the money (like Illinois and California) to accept it, because there is no way in hell that they'll be able to maintain those funding levels.

THAT is a serious issue, and a fundamental defect in how this bill was put together. I can understand requiring that the states not cut funding while they're receiving the funding. But to do so after the money has run out was a poor, poor choice.

Ah, those hidden little aspects no one really pays attention to.

There's a method to that madness: the feds make the requirement, the states can't live up to it, so the states either have to pay back the money or accept increased federal control. Little by little, the states are reduced to mere administrative districts.

The thing is, it is always so glaringly absurd. Like Watching Glenn Back try to diagram his conspiracies on a chalkboard.

I'd like to see Glenn Beck diagram some of his sentences.


BTW, am I the only one who noticed that they're "balancing" the money they're spending now with money they plan on not spending... four years from now? Plenty of time to put it back.

And if Republicans actually cared about the deficit, they wouldn't keep coming up with tax cuts for people who are just going to squirrel the money out of the country or use it to build more overseas factories to take jobs away from the U.S.
