"Obama Effect" the best thing to ever happen to the gun industry

And, by the way, I have no real issue with google's post, as it advocated violence against no one in particular. But it shows a mindset that gets us armed to the teeth. Which is the substance of the topic at hand. Do we need to arm ourselves against the perceived kookiness of the left/right? Are we risking death if we don't?

First, I'm more interested in being armed against criminals and wild animals -- and in some parts of the country, I'd say that one is in fact risking death if not armed. I recall one night in rural Colorado when two escaped murderers were on the loose; everyone in town got out the guns and kept them at hand, and the parents of several kids who were at my place (playing old-fashioned fantasy RPGs) called to make sure that we were all armed. And I'm further interested in being armed against gay-bashers (a concern which will drop considerably once I finish moving).

As for advocating violence, I didn't see that in either your post or google's -- I thought yours was tongue-in-cheek, and I took google's as just common sense: if there are people who are shooting at you, your best option is to shoot back -- more accurately.
