It is really refreshing to have an administration that will speakout on anti-gay issues and may actually have some effect on the situation in Uganda.

IIRC the national prayer breakfast was originally organized by the same people in Washington who have pushed for that law in Uganda, a group known as "The Family".

Meanwhile, some crazy Christian groups attack Obama and defended Uganda. Cliff Kincaid, editor of Accuracy in Media said that the Ugandians were protecting themselves from "homosexual imperialism" and:

"They are up against the international homosexual lobby, the money of George Soros, and the Obama Administration. They are trying to create a Christian culture that is protective of families and children."

I live in South Africa and have been following this issue. the other day on our news channel they were chatting to someone in parliament in Uganda, he kept saying its their way of keeping 'evil' away, cant believe we can tolerate opinions like that!!

And they mentioned SA sent someone from our government to Uganda to help with the issue, but this guy wants us to remove the right to gay marriage in SA (we got the right 4 years ago), not exactly the best person to send

Also there was a program about how in the poor areas in SA, men rape lesbians thinking that they are doing them a favour by trying to change them.

I find it really ironic that SA fought for a long time against discriminiation against non-white people, now for some reason they think its ok to discriminate against gay people. I DONT GET IT!
