I don't get it.
The clip in that video alleged to be Obama telling Ohio "last night" that "I think we should use the hammer of a potential opt out as leverage to insure that we actually get labor and environmental standards that are enforced" was from 2008 - during the presidential campaign.
As you saw in that 2008 clip, Obama said he opposes free trade bills which he does not regard as beneficial to workers. Over the weekend, the UAW and Chamber of Commerce congratulated Obama on changes he made to the Bush-era South Korea free trade agreement. Those changes will help to protect the (Korean) environment and the rights of (Korean) workers. That is exactly what Obama was advocating in the 2008 clip - that trade agreements need to factor in the same constraints with which American manufacturers must deal.
Obama is attempting to implement the policies which he has advocated since his presidential campaign. The UAW agrees that the changes Obama has negotiated will be helpful in promoting the competitiveness of American manufacturers.
What part of this do you regard as dishonest?
Take it up with Jane Hamsher
but reread the WHOLE OP
"At what point (when) did Obama's detractors stop being labeled 'Racists' so to stifle debate?"
do you think Hamsher is just now revealing her racism?
I don't get it.
....

I'm puzzled too.
Ditto. Me too.
I don't get it either. How is Obama "taking credit"?
Oh... that may be true NOW
not so true 18 months ago... people with legit policy disagreements with Obama/Dem Leadership were branded racist by several posters here in CE&P
Now... when many libs are pissed at Obama it seems fashionable to disagree with him
So I have a valid Point![]()
Not my point, never was... (i have bigger bones to pick wiff him)
That point was Jane Hamsher's
PRESIDENT Obama's enthusiasm for a "landmark trade deal" between the United States and South Korea is not hyperbole from a White House desperate for good economic news. The cheering on Capitol Hill is loud and bipartisan.
Negotiators spent three years trying to wrap up a U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement that foundered on automobiles and beef exports. High agricultural tariffs kept out U.S. products and denied Korean consumers access to competitive prices.
Tariff reductions alone are expected to increase exports of American goods to the world's 12th-largest economy by $11 billion. The agreement, with gains in manufacturing, and new opportunities for service industries — energy and environmental, financial, delivery and electronic commerce — is forecast to create 70,000 jobs.
I'm adding myself to the collection of the befuddled. Your point was supposed to be Obama taking credit for something Bush had done. That doesn't seem to be the case. So... you're claiming a valid point that isn't the point of the thread?

Well! This settles it. I'm in love with you!
And, no, you can't get out of it!
But then, I have had a few Canadian Mists!![]()
