Obama wins second term

ha ha ha! Donald you're fired.

Was the electoral college a disaster for democracy in 2000, Donald?

My thoughts exactly. They will start trying to retool the way votes are counted next time. Now if they gotta any tricks up their sleeve, they need to start now, dont do shit the "day before" the next election and claim you looking out for the country. Once it all over and the POTUS pulls out the popular vote too, then what will he say. Lawd I can't wait to see The View tomorrow, Mrs Hasselback will be looking ill, even though her husband is cute as hell.

Trumpy is complaining about the electoral college? Okay... but once the votes are all counted on the wEst coast, I project Obama will win the popular vote by 3-4%... case in point. This is a good step for this country and finally the right wing trolls on here will be silenced.

I'm with you on that one, GC. I certainly hope that Obama also wins the popular vote (especially by a good margin), just so I won't have to hear the usual JUB Republitrolls bitch and moan that "Obama didn't win the popular vote!".

I can't believe the popular vote was such a close race. Still though, I'm happy that my country dodged another bullet! :)

Obama pulling ahead in popular votes. So pleased he won. He's a great man, and great to look at too!

Congratulations to President Barack Obama on being victorious in his campaign for a second term. Whether he can have the kind of transformative presidency that carried him to his first victory and saw such great promise is up to him...he can lead and inspire and aim us to lift our hopes and dreams higher or he can demagogue and demean and in pique of snarkiness make himself look small. We've seen both and anyone who disputes the existence of the latter side of Obama is not being honest.Which Obama really resides in his inner core? Prove your critics wrong, Mr. Obama and be a statesman, not a mere partisan. America has spoken and you deserve the opportunity to get this country back on the right track and moving, as in your campaign slogan, forward.

I think he was reaching out and bending over backwards for most of his first term, but the republican party obstructionism was just too much to advance the sort of things like infrastructure investments that could have given a bigger boost to the recovery. With most of the tea party influence being flushed down the toilet, hopefully the GOP will be big enough to realize the country has said, enough, and they will cooperate to build America for all Americans and a new era of bipartisanship blooms.

Romney's concession speech... Odd yet dignified. He upheld the american process of concession with grace.

My feelings exactly. I think he was bending over too much IMO. Once everyone cools down, there are some that won't ever cool down, maybe things will start to move along and improve but only time will tell.

It's a cool letter. Reminds me of the photograph that my late grandparents received during the first Obama campaign/election. They were big supporters.

Maybe this will be a wakeup call to the Republicians. It's not the 1950's anymore.

I hope so to but you know some of them gonna die the way they are, they won't change or budge, too old and stuck in their ways.

He still talks pretty.

Now if he'll grow a pair of balls and figure out a way to put the squeeze on the House destructionists, maybe the country can get something done.

I can't believe the popular vote was such a close race. Still though, I'm happy that my country dodged another bullet! :)

Some tears of RELIEF tonight..."my country" didn't dodge just another bullet..."my country" dodged a horrific apocalypse. The alternative was the bombing of Iran and Pakistan (probably starting World War Three and perhaps massive annihilation) or, short of that, gays being forced back into the closet by Sandra Day O'Connor's SCOTUS replacement at some future date...repeal of all health care and baking protections, complete destruction of freedom on the Internet, etc.

The Republicans of 2012 are arguably the most authoritarian, theocratic, hypocritical, and dishonest "major competitive political Party" in any modernized "First World" nation during the lifetimes of nearly anybody on JUB.

I have not been entirely satisfied with Barack Obama, either, but he will indeed be President for FAR more than 47% of the people. Let's double this and add six more. I don't consider him to have been much better than George Herbert Walker Bush (the "first" Bush 1989-1993), but to evolve from GHWB to what the Republicans became in 2012 was indeed crossing a bridge of almost incalculable distance.

I was afraid that I would have to consider trying to move out of the United States, being entirely unable to abide an electorate who would give constant lying and obfuscation, hatred of gays, hatred of women, repeal of all protections of nearly anything, etc. The Republicans have been soundly PUNISHED for their extreme crackpot ideas, and have been held accountable in the end for their solid lies, lies, lies, lies.

We even have entire states, now, with electorates agreeing that GLBT should, indeed, have full equal rights.

There is a God.

I'm eating that egg off my face now (for projecting that Ohio and Florida would indeed be STOLEN by the Republicans), and I am relishing every morsel of it, possibly more wonderful than anything else I have ever eaten.

I thnk he'll have a lot more sway right now. Republicans while they have the House will be pushed into changing their attitudes... or else the American people will continue to punish them. Pass some pro-small business bills. No waiting now.

Obama should drop those small business bills right back at them the moment they're back in session, and make a big deal of it in the press, including quoting Romney about getting things done. Use the bully pulpit and put the pressure on the ideologues to get those measures, estimated to generate four to five million jobs, in place.
