Here's the thing, I'm not unemployed because I sit around playing videogames, or because I'm not trying to find work. I've only lived at home for approx. 2 months, before that I had been on my own since 18.

And this old woman, who should be able to take care of herself (according to you), lives with the support of the taxpayers, not her rich relative. At least your family cared, which is apparently more than she can say.

The guy doesn't really know them, nor does he have an emotional connection to them. See, children of immigrant parents are often taken to the mother country to connect with family overseas. If that's not done, the children are unable to make familial connections with the generations that came before them. Obama saw his father once, when he was 10 years old, and didn't seek out his father's relatives until he was an adult. That's way past the time for him to establish emotional rapport with a people and a culture he's never come in contact with.
It's just as likely that Obama didn't know his aunt was here. She has children and other nephews and nieces who managed to get her into America and are responsible for her care.

I'm sure you're just SOOOO concerned for her. Why don't you go pick her up? Help her study for her exam so she can become a citizen? If you care this much, put your money where your mouth is.

It's your job to make a way in life for yourself first. Then, hopefully, you will be generous and loving and support your family. Of course, if Obama gets elected, you won't have any choice but to supports them...he will take it from you and give it to them. So, no worries there.

Oh please. I have family here from Africa and England that I couldn't locate, nor would I particularly care to. I have cousins in Baltimore that I know of, but am not close to, and have only met once or twice when we had a family reunion. We're just not close. We don't call on birthdays and we don't send each other Christmas cards. When we meet up, it's "hello, how's all" and we go back to our separate lives.
Obama met his father once, when he was 10 years old. How many of dad's family members actually sought him out? A sanguine link doesn't always make one "family". His father failed him by neglecting to establish a link between Obama and his family in Kenya.

I have a friend who's a niece to Colin Powel, and she's never seen him at the family reunions, nor does she get birthday gifts, phone calls, or Christmas cards from the decorated general. I don't even think he knows she exists.

To expand the context in which she uses the word selfish into the realm of national politics, it would seem IMHO... the best policy for each of us to be concerned first and principallly, with self determination and success....tempered as she says, with principled concern for the welfare of others, but.....

I have a lot of family members that I've never met, only seen once and some I probably never heard of. If I make 4-5 million, I'm not going to suddenly do a search to find out if every person related to me is in poverty and then bail them out of it. It's ridiculous to suggest that Obama should.

Yeah, and when the operator asked him if he was using 911 resources to complain about traffic, he told the operator "FUCK YOU!" Some time later, someone from 911 contacted him to let him know not to waste their time again and they left a message. He then called 911 again.

I have a very close aunt who was deported. It was sad. She cried. She was away for three years then came back legally.
