Obama's YouTube Response to Joe the Plumber

LoL @ Marley!

I think the tax calculator on Obama's site is a brilliant idea. It's a smart way of getting his plan across.

This video is a total fraud.

I ran the numbers through professional tax software.
A married man with $20k income and a wife and 2 children would have a tax bill of $251 dollars under current law (2007 tax year).

The only way he would save $1K under Obama's plan would be through an earned income credit or some other form of wealth transfer.

^Do you think maybe you got different numbers because he ran it through Obama's tax calculator and you ran it through professional tax software? Your tax calculator works under current law, Obama's tax calculator gives a hypothesis of what your taxes would be under his policy. Not the same thing.

Go back and read it more carefully. You have once again jumped to a conclusion.

There is no way that a man who currently would pay $251 in taxes could save $1,000 under Obama without there being some sort of EIC or negative income tax involved.

You can only save $1,000 if you actuallywould have owed $1,000 in the first place.

Isn't this what brought the whole "socialism" tizzy about? That lower income wage-earners would get money back if they didn't owe more than a thousand dollars. oooo, scary, poor people get a little lift from richer people. Call it what you want, I like the idea.

I don't think it's a good idea to penalize high achievers, and I certainly am against the concept of my money being taken from me at gunpoint, moved to DC where it undergoes a certain shrinkage before being given to someone who certainly hasn't earned it, and probably doesn't deserve it. I much prefer to make my own charitable choices.

Our society is set up with such a huge difference between the lowest wage earner and the highest that it is sickening. Its not like it would be "evened out", it would just be a little help to the "little guy". And that money would just go back into the economy so fat bastards can still drive their rolls and fly their jets. It would probably help the little guy not be so stressed which is good for ALL OF US! The janitor at school works just as hard and is just as important to society as the hedge fund trader who makes millions.

Its a bit of a role reversal having democrats selling self interest with the republicans stuck with the more difficult task of selling "fairness".

McCain losing is one thing but losing the tax issue to democrats would be devastating to republicans.

From each according to his ability; to each according to his need.

That philosophy is about as anti-American as you can get.

What you don't understand is that the people with the rolls and jets won't really be affected. They have more ways to avoid taxes than you could possibly imagine. The people most affected will be the upper middle class. The owners of small businesses who still provide between 70% and 80% of the jobs in this country. Obama's taxes will penalize them, and they will start automating and cutting back, or moving offshore. In any case, it will be a disaster.

^We better work together to make sure this socialist doesn't get elected then.

I have an idea: Why don't I just personally take my entire paycheck to some uneducated whore who can't stop fucking long enough to take care of her 7 children? Thus, you have Obama's plan.

Sounds like Palin to me.

And so much open-mindedness from a gay man.

Or how 'bout an even better idea. Instead let's make more of an initiative to ensure the school system in America is properly funded so that uneducated whore can become educated so she can get off welfare and find a well paying job. And just maybe, through a decent education and with proper information that whore will have better knowledge about pregnancy prevention and correct usage of contraceptives. Until you have walked a day in the life in someone's shoes, you have no right to judge and ridicule a certain type of person who's going through hard times.

Who's to say I, or someone in my family, hasn't? Doing a bit of judging yourself, aren't ya? Uneducated as in lazy people who don't WANT to go to school, skip it on a daily basis, don't want to better themselves. Squandering money isn't the solution to everything, although Democrats seem to think so.

What a shock. A personal attack on a candidate when it was uncalled for. How is wanting to keep my hard-earned money instead of it being given to left-wing groups and lazy, worthless people being close-minded?

There is a very clever cartoon making the e-mail rounds. Sorry I can't find a direct link to the source.

It shows three trick-or-treaters at a man's door. The man says "I'm going to take all your candy and give it to kids who are too lazy to go trick-or-treating for themselves." One of the children says "Oh, crap, it's a Democrat."

That about sums it up.

In my experience I've found that it is quite typical of a staunch republican to be very selfish when it comes to money. They tend to never want to help anyone out, and there is always an excuse why (lazy, whore, uneducated). What some fail to realize is that not everyone has the same opportunities in this society (believe it or not). Some people, no matter how hard they work just always seem to get the short end of the stick. Of course people who work hard should be rewarded, but for goodness sake, have some compassion for those who need a break in life. I realize there are lazy people out there. There will always be a certain amount of people who abuse the system. In fact, no system will ever be perfect. BUT. and it's a big BUT in my book (lol). I would much rather let some of those people slide by that are lazy, etc. rather than reject those that really need financial help. Call me crazy, I just think it's compassion.
And for all the rebulicans out there who are drenched in christianity but still think giving some of their money to ppl who just may need it is a bad idea...... ask yourself one thing.... What Would Jesus Do?

Did you miss the point totally, or are you just being disingenuous?

There is a huge difference between allowing the federal government to take your money and give it to whom they please, and doing charitable work oneself.

Most of the Republicans I have known, are more than happy to give to charity, or to their churches, or to local organizations that have an actual track record of helping people in need. They know that these organizations are much better at distributing aid than the government.

You are also dead wrong in stating that not everyone has the same opportunities. Of course they do. Some people lack whatever it takes to seize those opportunities when presented, or they simply make bad choices.

Our founding documents guarantee equality of opportunity, they do not guarantee equality of outcome.

It's simple minded to believe that everyone has the same opportunities in reality.

Does a baby beaten to death have the same opportunities as you did?

Start with that thought and develop it a little. You can't expect everyone to do your thinking for you. LOL.
