Re: Face Off at 55 Wall Street
It's a very sobering snapshot of the results of runaway capitalism, because right there, you have represented the three main protagonists: the Haves, the Have-Nots, and the State.
It really does encapsulate brilliantly what direction the world is heading.
I swear this would make a fantastic stage-play.
Let's try it (I'm feeling in a creative and literary mood today)
Chicken Scrawl Repertory Company presents.... for the audience....
FACE OFF AT 55 WALL STREET
THE PLAYERS:
The Haves (also known as the Rich, the Privileged, the Capitalists, the Right, the White, the Educated)
The Have-Nots (also known as the Poor, the Disenfranchised, the Sick, the Moderates, the Left, the Majority)
The State (also known as the Law, the Power, the Complicitors, the Bought, the Betrayers)
NOTE: Be aware that at all times, Haves and State are essentially one and the same, and are in complete synchronicity and lockstep ethically, morally, politically, psychologically.
PRELUDE: Haves bankrupt State, and render Have-Nots powerless, but State forgives Haves all their crimes and sanctions Haves to do anything and everything they want.
SCENE 1: THE PROTEST
Have-Nots gather at Haves' Ivory Towers to protest injustice, inhumanity, lack of conscience, and, above all, pure unadulterated greed, the likes of which the world has never seen.
Haves gather on their balcony with drinks, well-dressed, happy, smiling, basking in their victory, which was achieved long ago, and looking down with amusement at the Have-Nots underneath them.
State, ever-watching, ever-present, is of course already prepared for every and all eventualities, their side is known, their allegiance having been bought by the money, power, and influence of Haves.
SCENE 2: THE CRACKDOWN a.k.a. THE REMOVAL
Have-Nots are arrested, punched, dragged, beaten, their voices silenced, their cause rejected, their requests denied, their cries ignored, their names and faces indicted, their meaningless and worthlessness reinforced.
State is the perpetrator, the immovable, unshakeable, unemotional, cold, heartless, methodical and unwavering machine of so-called justice, once with a conscience, but now only a tool of the Haves.
SCENE 3: THE AFTERMATH
Haves return to work on the ever-prescient and demanding tasks of The Great Project (also secretly known as Corporate Enslavement of the Masses) with full State approval.
Have-Nots are left with nothing.
THE END.
