I started high school in the mid-60s. After all these years, I still remember the first combination for my combination lock: right twice to 23, left once to 36, right to 17. I can barely remember what I ate for lunch, but I remember that stupid combination from over 50 years ago.

Do you have any useless memories which simply will not slip out of your brain?

I remember my telephone number from the 60's and I haven't dialed that number in over 40 years.

Dad mentioned a family holiday we went on when I was 4 or 5 this morning. As soon as he said it, I saw the house in my mind and described it to him. Why on earth would I remember that and not remember where I put my keys.

LOL..yeah....

I have a deep voice when I yell..and I had to compete with a train going by me and also the damn hillbilly music blaring...so I had to project my voice far...and maybe 200 times a day I said

"HOWDY FOLKS ..WELCOME TO THE SPIRIT OF KITTY HAWK. PLEASE HAVE YOUR TICKETS READY AS YOU NEAR THE FRONT OF THE LINE. THERE IS NO SMOKING EATING OR DRINKING PERMITTED ON THE RIDE. PLEASE SIT TWO OR THREE PERSONS TO A PLANE. THANK YOU"

...and then...

"PLEASE KEEP YOUR SEATBELTS FASTENED AND KEEP YOUR ARMS AND LEGS INSIDE THE PLANE AT ALL TIMES UNTIL THE RIDE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP...THANK YOU"

I can do it in my sleep..still...and this was when I was a teenager. I sound like an auctioneer...I say it real fast...

I remember the postal codes of all 4 of the properties i've lived, but i can only remember 3 of the actual house numbers.

"Private ___________ IRP reception station. How may I help you sir?" When answering the phone, FT. Knox, KY 1979

I remember the look of an old, spent hot water tank at my great grandmother's house.

It was out in the back yard, and a bare tank affair, not insulated. Could have been an abandoned small propane tank. I don't know.

What I remember about it was a hole for the plumbing fitting. I always seemed transfixed by the green thing that plugged the hole. In retrospect, I know now that it was some kind of toy tractor tire that was wedged into it and then clogged with dirt. But, as a kid, I didn't know and never could figure it out.

In hindsight, so much is tied to our limited knowledge trying to figure out things that are unfamiliar to us.

EVERYTHING that we experience, sense, is forever etched into our memory banks. ..|

In my case, though the knowledge is there, the directory is more, and more, fragmented as I've aged. ](*,)

The older those memories are, the more entrenched they've become, making them "stronger". The paths most trod have more of an embedded/enduring mark. \:/

Just don't ask me what I had for lunch, or anything I might have done in the past month. :slap:

my 1980 locker combo 0 - 15- 31
and my locker # 841

I still play lotto tickets with em

I remember mine, too. It was only 3 digits: 445. (My neighbour was 416.)

Mine then was 7 numbers. Today we have 10 digit dialing. Too many people living in the area and they were running out of numbers.

I remember my address from the age of 5, that would have been in 1957.
I know many old phone numbers, back in the day the prefix was in letters such as Li or Ke, which were short for Lincoln and Kenwood.

I remember many of the thoughts that I entertained as a child when I was trying to understand life and why I was here, even at he age of 5 and 6 I had ideas and theories in my head about these things, I was so far off track.

I remember trying to figure out how a baby got out of his mothers stomach (I thought that's where they were at) I finally decided that
the big round pads on her chest (I didn't know what they were called) must flip up and the baby could get out. Sort of like a Pez dispenser.

Yes.

Regrets.

I remember several 80s and early 90s cartoons including the MC Hammer one and the California Raisins. I also vividly remember record players even though CDs became mainstream by the time I was seven and records were stopped being made.

Noteworthy....and in my case I seem to remember matters, from well before I was born...

I was born on the Greek island of Rhodes, and etched in my memory are the images that I viewed daily...as if the buildings, and scenario were newly minted. Here's an Italian Luce Instituzione video clip of Rhodes, dated 1940 demonstrating the work by the Italian administration of the South Aegean islands, including their capital in Rhodes. Note the strikingly beautiful architecture, still remaining for us to appreciate:

Peterborough switched to 10-digid dialling a few years ago. Like you, just too many numbers. Then again, 705 is a huge area code.

I still remember a nightmare that I had when I was under 5. I was sick with the flu. I dreamt of my dad throwing what I then called "giant toothpicks" at me. Guess you could call then spears. Everything was just a black void with me, my dad and the spears.
