Official 52nd Annual Grammy Awards Nomination Thread

Grammys Will Stage 3-D Tribute To Michael Jackson

Last year, as the Grammys were approaching, the show's executive producer was in frequent talks with Michael Jackson to appear on the telecast to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Thriller."

Ken Ehrlich, the Grammy telecast's co-executive producer, had presented several ideas for performers, including Justin Timberlake and Usher, all of which excited Jackson. But in the end, he declined the show's invitation.

"He just wasn't ready for it," Ehrlich said.

This year, Jackson will be a focal point of the show, with an unprecedented posthumous tribute. The Grammys will broadcast a 3-D clip the singer made for his hit "Earth Song," a video that was to be integral to his comeback concerts in London in July 2009 - shows that never happened because of his June 25 death in Los Angeles.

Usher, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson will perform alongside the clip, which Ehrlich says will be the first time an awards show will feature 3-D.

I can't wait for this.

Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli To Sing For Haiti At Grammys

Singer Mary J. Blige and Italian pop tenor Andrea Bocelli will perform Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" at the Grammy awards on Sunday to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Grammy organizers said on Wednesday that audio and video of the special performance would be made available on iTunes immediately after the broadcast of the live January 31 awards ceremony to be held in Los Angeles.

All proceeds will go to Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.

The performance is also intended as a anniversary tribute to "Bridge Over Troubled Water", which won Grammys for record of the year, song of the year, and album of the year 40 years ago.

'Lady Gaga and Elton John set for Grammy's duet'?

Show insiders say the two superstars could put on the ultimate show stopper at this Sunday's do following talk by organisers to get them to collaborate.
Fuelling the hype, Elton refused to dispel the rumours after he was quizzed on the plans at the Rainbow Media dinner at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah this week.

Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem and Travis Barker To Perform At Grammys

Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem and Travis Barker are the latest acts added to the Grammy roster.

According to an early Thursday tweet posted on the official Grammy Awards Twitter page, the three rappers and drummer will team up for a "special performance" at Sunday night's presentation. Although the song the group will be performing wasn't announced, the rap crew represents nearly the entire line-up for the remix to Drake's "Forever" song, sans Kanye West. The song reached No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in October.

Lady Gaga, previously announced as a performer, will open the show.

Um, Poker Face is the winner of that one. . .

SPOILER ALERT

Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" hit single and "The Fame" album picked up early Grammys for best dance recording and best electronic/dance album, respectively, during the awards' pre-telecast Sunday. Winners in the song of the year, record of the year and album of the year categories had yet to be announced at press time, but "Poker Face" was a nominee in the first two categories and "The Fame" was up for a Grammy in the latter.

The dance recording Grammy went to "Poker Face" producer RedOne and mixers RedOne, Robert Orton and Dave Russell.

Poor Whitney not a single nomination tonight.:rotflmao:

At least Uncle Clive bought her a 2010 BET Honors Awards!

Once again Rihanna proves she's not capable of wining an award on her own:

BEST RAP/SUNG COLLABORATION
Beyonce & Kanye West, “Ego”
Keri Hilson, Kanye West & Ne-Yo, “Knock You Down”
Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West, “Run This Town”*
The Lonely Island & T-Pain, “I’m On A Boat”
T.I. & Justin Timberlake, “Dead And Gone”

*Winner

I am sooooooooooooooooooo excited you have no idea.

Rihanna is the only person that could get be back on JUB.

Rihanna at the tender age of 20 has won her second Grammy for her song writing talent.

Rihanna cowrote the Grammy award winning Best Rap Song(a song writers award) for Run This Town.

Rihanna is growing so much as an artist. She was signed just as a singer and now she is branching out as a song writer and now has a Grammy to show for her skills as a song writer.

This is beyond amazing (!)

Even when Rihanna never had album out she still gets Grammys.

But now that Rated R came out i fully expect multiple nominations in December :)

Who performed before P!nk? I made a store run and it took longer than expected. I missed the first half hour, damn it!

Beyonce -- If I Were a Boy and a cover of You Oughta Know. You didn't miss anything spectacular. . .

Anywho, I am sooo fucking angry that Taylor Swift won Album of the Year. Yes folks, according to recording arts academy, Taylor Swift had the best album of 2009.

Clearly, among the nominees, that award should have gone to DMB or Lady Gaga.

Thanks! :-) I thought I missed Lady Gaga and Elton already, and that's the one performance I don't want to miss.

Lady Gaga got robbed. At least they let her open the Grammy's.

I'm still disgusted by the fact that Taylor Swift won Album of the Year. Look, I know the Grammy's have lost credibility a long time ago, but surely they are somewhat reasonable??

Um, yeah...you left that out before. Why the hell did they put her at the beginning? I'm gonna go cry now.

Sorry! I read your post to quickly and didn't realize you missed the first 30 min.

Well, just go on YouTube and type Lady Gaga Elton John Grammy's. It was pretty awesome!

Yeah, I just watched it on YouTube. It's not the same with a little fuzzy copy on a computer screen though.

They should have put damned Taylor Swift on at the beginning for all the kids, so they could get their behinds to bed early. Then I would have missed her hitting all those sour notes during "Rhiannon". :##:

Gaga, Beyonce, and Swift ALL suck. Horrible music, and in Gaga and Swift's cases, horrible voices.

P!nk stole the show. The other performers can all suck on that.

Lady Gaga and Elton John
