Official 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Nomination Thread

Why would Leona Lewis get a nomination? did she even have anything out this year?

She released an album last November. But I'm not really shocked that her or Mariah were snubbed. I'm just annoyed by it. But I'm shocked Christina didn't get a nom for 'You Lost Me'.

What?

No mention of Taylor Swift. But she won a lot last year and is the voice of our generation?

And no mention of Ke$ha either. Tsk tsk tsk shame on them.

Honestly I'm surprised they weren't mentioned. Not surprised about Katy Perry though.

A Grammy Whitney should have/would have won but was robbed of...

I found out about this 3 years ago and it really bothered me even though i am not a stan for her. The Grammys really messed up back then. And what makes it worse is they only decided to change the rule because of Lady Gaga.

But even before Gaga the Grammy broke the rules if they really liked someone. Lauryn Hill won many Grammys before she went solo but when she went solo they still gave her Best New Artist as if she came out of nowhere.

Thinking about it its just seems like common sense that an artist has to have have released a solo album to be considered for Best New Artist. How can you just feature on one song and be judged?

Anyways ever since the travesty of the 2000 ceremony i dont place much value on this award.

Britney was robbed Best New Arist and 10 years later i am still bitter about. Christina is finally getting her karma for stealing that Grammy. Christina is a gigantic flop and will never in her life reach Britney level of super stardom.

I don't know what happened this year! Adam Lambert didn't get Best New Artist, Ke$ha didn't get a single nomination, Sade not in the Album of The Year catagory, Katy Perry got Album of the Year and 'The Fame Monster' ep got nominated?

I'm thrilled for Gaga! That was a complete shock - I didn't think EPs could be nominated! 'Teenage Dream' has some great songs on it, but I never expected it to get nominated 4 album of the year. I think the Sade snub was a little disrespectful and Adam should have at least receieved a BNA nomination. And Ke$ha didn't get a single nomination - I was surprised by that, but thrilled!

I'm thrilled for Gaga! That was a complete shock - I didn't think EPs could be nominated!

I might be wrong, but I consider "The Fame Monster" to be an album on it's own. I mean, Madonna's first album only had 8 songs on it. "Thriller" by Michael Jackson only had 9 songs on it. Janet Jackson's "Control" also only had 9 songs. All of those were iconic, successful pop albums. So, I think conceptually and musically speaking, "The Fame Monster" deserves to be treated as an album. But I could be wrong. Maybe they changed the rules since then.

But, yes, I am extremely happy and excited for her!! I think "The Fame Monster" definitely is worthy of winning.

If the Grammys get it right, Lady Gaga will win Album of the Year, Jay Z and Alicia Keys will win Record of the Year, and Cee Lo will win Song of the Year. But knowing the Grammys, they'll probably go for the most boring outcome possible and just pick Lady Antebellum in all three categories. Ugh.

It will be a travesty if they lose...this band is amazing and one of the best acts to come from the UK in a very long time.
