Official 84th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) Thread

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

I never said you did, I stated a Fact about Emma's perfromance.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

That's an excellent list.

I'd also like to add:

Brigitte Fossey (Forbidden Games)
Katharine Hepburn (Bringing Up Baby)
Cary Grant (Bringing Up Baby)
Deborah Kerr (The Innocents)
Anthony Perkins (Psycho)

And for that matter, why were Psycho and Bringing Up Baby overlooked for Best Picture?!

Hidden Cameras At The 2012 Academy Awards To Stream Live On Oscar.com

LOS ANGELES — Academy Awards nominees and presenters are getting even more exposure at this year's show.

Thanks to an expanded collection of hidden backstage cameras, which capture unscripted action near the green room, the lobby, the winners' walk and the Governors Ball, fans can click around on Oscar.com to see various perspectives that aren't part of the main telecast.

"We want to encourage them to be part of the experience," said Christina Kounelias, chief marketing officer for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"We're giving fans the control to follow their favorites," added Karin Gilford of ABC's digital media division.

The Oscar.com site – a partnership between AMPAS and the Oscars' longtime broadcaster, ABC – will have more than a dozen cameras filming the proceedings on the red carpet, backstage and inside the theater, where a camera will be trained on front-row celebrity minglers during commercials. Visitors to the site can choose which camera they want to look through and change it any time. A running ticker will advise what's happening in front of the other cameras so star-watchers don't miss their favorites.

The celebrity surveillance, which is free, will begin with the start of red-carpet arrivals and continue with live feeds until the Governors Ball gets under way.

Oscar attendees needn't worry about too much exposure, though. There are no hidden cameras in the theater's restrooms.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

My last picks before the winners are announced tonight....

Best Actor: Gary Oldman

Best Actress: Viola Davis

Best Supporting Actor: Chris Plumber

Best Supporting Actress: Tavia Spencer

Best Picture: The Help

Best Director: The Artist

Anybody else change their mind for the Millionth time?

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

Who was with Zachary Quinto on the red carpet?

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

If The Help wins it would be a travesty. Mediocrity as political correctness.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

The only film nominated I watched this year (and seems like ever) was The Help and Bridesmaids and I'm rooting for both, other than that, don't care who wins. I won't even be watching, though I will record it so I can FF thru it like I do all award shows.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

"Thank you Tom and thank-you for whipping the crowd into a frenzy!"-- Best line of the evening so far. Billy Chrystal said this after the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Tom Sherak gave a short speech. I was ROFL!

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

… Mediocrity as political correctness.
I'm staggered that some 21st century twerp could describe the late Jane Russell, who was a raucous-voiced, buxom broad as an 'actor'.

Rest in Peace Janie!

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

I was bored with tonight's show. It was also beyond predictable...not that my picks gave that away. As I went through my choices, as the awards were announced, I couldn't help but wonder what I could have possibly been thinking when I made my choices.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

Yeah- Thought it wa pretty boring, too...maybe because Billy Crystal used the same ole tired stick he uses EVERY time he hosts- I could barely understand the words in his medely song....thought Angelina looked pretty, but the posing every 5 seconds was stupid.

You'd literally see right through her if she didn't pose that way  . Maybe it added depth. She's too thin.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

Love love love that The Artist won big!

Very deserving.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

*Yawn* So happy I watched Celebrity Apprentice instead.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

I DVR'd the whoe shabang.......I Love the Legendary Billy Crystal but he brings nothing new to the world of Oscar...I say keep switching up Hosts until you find one that can do it a couple of years in a row...

I Love Chris Rock's moment...LOL...He did what we expect Chris to do...

The silent film hoopla was a one shot deal...That's why Oscar slobbered all over it.....I like all the players of "The Artist....Just a Bunch of Good-looking and very nice French actors and producers indeed.......Very RARE that even the Damn Director is Smoking Hot...I had to do a double-take @ the Damn Director and that doesnt happen too often....

When was Sexy Christian Bale REBORN?...LOL...When he stepped to the mic I was taken back to the Damn 90's...Chris hasnt looked that Good in a long time....Welcome back Chris, welcome back...He was wearing the shit out of that that Black Tux...Tough...

Ange Jolie is Beautiful but she looked "Greezy"...Is she promoting Vaseline?

Where in the Fuck was Kathy Bates? Did i fast-forward through her apearance or something? Kathy always bring the comedy. Where the hell was she?

Christopher Plumber makes 82 look Sexy as all get-out...82 is not suppose to be that Hot, but he's got it...

The GREAT Meryl finally got that 3rd Oscar she's been chasing for 30yrs...She's truly "The Queen"....Alright now it's time to OPEN up the nominating category to all those upcoming actresses that deserve to shine...

Beautiful-Jazz artist Esparanza Spalding gave one Beautiful and haunting rendition of "What a wonderful world".....Her voice was crystal-clear and perfect...I wanna see more of her..

Considering I Fast-forward through the 3hrs...The show did seem boring and the Popcorn-Ladies passing out popcorn should have been CUT...

Oh well...

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

We fast forward through all the boring crap so it cuts our viewing time down to about 70 minutes.

I thought the Cirque de Soleil piece was great though and we loved that they didn't have a full orchestra playing.

And that they didn't read through every fucking producer's name for the best Pic award.

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

Love Meryl Streep but I was really pulling for Viola Davis this year. Love the Chris Plummer win!

Re: Official 84th Annual Academy Awards Thread

^^^I feel'ya man...I was rooting for Viola as well...She'll return to the Oscars in the near future and win...

Meryl was saluted @ The Kennedy Center Honors back in December...Won the Golden Globe in January and took home The Oscar in February...

Somebody is having a good year...
