just got back home, so i caught judging but missed the rest of the episode

but from what i can tell so far - that was the bullshittiest elimination ever.

wtf?

as much as i hate clark's personality, clark IS a working model. the modeling world often goes gaga for southerners (both the hot southern boys and tall, skinny southern gals) and their southerern cockiness/sassafrass. model scouts often head to the south to look for new faces.

let's face it - cockiness translates well in photos/photo shoots. i mean, it's doubtful that those hot abercrombie hunks are timid, modest shy boys in real life. they take great photos that catch all us gay boys' attention because they're cocky as hell and they know how hot they are.

so cockiness isn't such a bad thing. quite frankly, to survive the modeling world, you have to be arrogant to deal with the constant rejection.

it's just weird that they got rid of her. but, in a way, i guess it's great they sent her home now so that she can start on her real career.

speaking objectively (since i missed mr jay's partial/biased opinions during the photoshoot), her photo wasn't the worst in the lot. sheena's, on the other hand, was pretty dull.

plus, clark had the fuckin best photo last week. so i can't see how they justified sending her home now.

i call bullshit on this one. they just wanted to get rid of her now so that it wouldn't cause outrage if they eliminated her later on, after a series of great photo shoots.

i'm sure the same fate will come to uber-model Lauren Brie. maybe even as early as next week?

this episode should be called the "personality" elimination. it was all about personality - jocelyn stayed because of hers and tyra was explicit in sending clark home on the basis of her personality.

AND, nigel used the "personality" card on sheena.

RED FLAG!

it's so reminiscent of cycle 9, where nigel and tyra had multiple orgasms over saleisha's so-called "great personality" despite saleisha's god-awful photos.

please.

honestly, i think analeigh should have gone home. it's clear the judges like sheena and are forgiving her unduly. so even though i think sheena had the worst photo, i think these judges are keeping her to the end.

oh, anyone else notice how paulina was totally going against tyra in panel? and she TOTALLY called nigel and tyra out on cumming all over sheena's personality. she said something like "sheena has an awesome personality... but her photos SUCK."

i could sense from the facial expressions that tyra was regretting ever asking paulina on the show. most of what tyra said, paulina disagreed with.

sheena's photo was good, but i agree with moe - sam's was DULLLSSVILLE. i have no idea how sam got called first. ridiculous.

OMG, I'm so with you guys! I couldn't believe how much the judges liked Sam's photo. I thought it sucked big time!
Overall, I thought most of the pictures sucked actually.
I liked Sheen's photo the most.

I definitely think Sam had the best photo of the week. She kinda looks like Twiggy!

The worst photos definitely belonged to Marjorie and Joslyn but Joslyn's bubbly personality favored her, I think.

Clark was so not worthy of getting sent home this week. It's crazy--she had the #1 photo last week...and this week got sent home!!

Okay, so judging from the sneek peek of next week's episode looks like Elina's confidence gets shaky....doesn't look good for my fave girl of this cycle......

dude, i totally called a possible LB elimination after clark got eliminated last week -

YEEESSSSS!!!! the resemblence is SO striking too. i knew lauren brie reminded me of a working model - i just couldn't put my finger on it.

i LOOOOVE TANYA DZIAHILEVA - isn't she like 16? i still remember watching a vid of her opening the versace ss08 or 07 show - absolutely breathtaking. probably one of the hottest runway walks out there.

and there's something very feline-like about both of their faces. translates well in the modeling world.

so lovaboi - you sound like you know high fashion. i actually had to look up lily cole since i didn't know who that was. although, admittedly, i spend more time looking at male models than female... (hey, i like what male models do for my dick).

but, yeah, i think with the red hair, elina looks strikingly similar to lily cole. but if it weren't for that makeover, she'd still look like angelina jolie.

the problem with this show is that they don't pick girls who have strong fashion potential. it's really just about role models/girls who fit certain underrepresented demographics - latina, t-zonecunts (saleisha), plus sized, and more than likely with this cycle, asian.

but i'm with you on mckey. love her. i hope tyra takes a break from her crusade and crowns a real model winner. with that said, i wouldn't mind, though, seeing an asian take it - just so that we finally have the rainbow represented on ANTM. (oh - that reminds me - tyra still has to crown a lesbian winner in one of the future cycles - that would truly complete the rainbow - and it'd be awesome)

i like marjorie too - perfect body type for high fashion, big name couture houses, etc. but man, her personality is getting a bit on my nerves.

i'm shy myself, but sometimes you have to fake it to make it. and she's still having a hard time exuding confidence. hopefully the call-out and challenge win will give her some confidence.

but i don't see her winning at all - CG wouldn't have it.

as for analeigh: token girl-next-door contestant, to show all the other normal, regular little girls who watch the show that a normal, regular, joe-six-pack girl can be a model too (a la C4 blah-kahlen or C9 saleisha). she's a sweet chick, cool personality - but - physically - a dime a dozen, imo. no real nutritional fashion value - she's like model iceberg-lettuce.

so i have to agree with LB's and elina's comments on the show, as harsh as they were.

i'd still kick it with her - especially since she ended her walmart CG commercial by saying, "yo." i thought that was pretty dope.

so i don't mind seeing her still on the show, but i'm a little bugged that she stayed over someone like lauren brie.

I immediately connectioned elina's makeover to lily cole because of the ''affro'' bright orange hair but other then that Elina is more piercing while lily has a porcelain ''baby doll'' face

but yes I agree about ANTM, you can't really expect much to amount out of the show as it basically is more trivial pleasure for viewers than actually setting a career out for these women.

I'm hoping that marjorie or mckey will be able to break the mold and surface in european fashion week . marjorie just needs to take good pictures, have a stable walk, and she should be fine in the modeling biz : ]

overall, i'm pretty satisfied with this cycle's bunch of girls - like i've said before, i think i'd be OK with any of the remaining girls winning (except maybe for analeigh or jocelyn - again, nice girls, fun personalities, but - eh).

Grrr LB's gone!! I kinda wanted Analeigh to get voted off next but that photo totally saved her. I loved the girls' reactions when Tyra called Ana's name. Sheena was like, what the fuck?? haha LB's photo was NOT that bad!

Any-hoo, I definitely got tricked by last week's preview of last night's episode. Elina was supposed to cry on purpose--damn you misleading sneak peeks!! If Elina gets voted off I'm definitely going to shit a brick or two....

I'm starting to really love Marjorie. She has that cute & awkward Audrey Tatou thing about her. LOL at the producers for seeming to always play French music whenever Marjorie walks up at panel. She had the best picture of the week by far--good for her!

Speaking of Dani, my friend showed me this catalog (I totally forgot what company it was for....) and Dani was in a lot of it and she looked great! I saw a clip of her doing a Baby Phat show a while ago and she looked amazing. Of course she's in that Queen Latifah Covergirl commerical for like 2 seconds haha!

When are they going overseas???

And I don't even know how I managed to miss last week's Cycle 10 reunion show on Tyra. I hate I missed that, I really want to know what some of my favorite girls from that cycle (Anya, Katarzyna, Fatima, Claire, Stacy Ann and even Bitchney) are up to.

I only saw part of it...
Fatima looked amazing, but too much make-up imo. Tyra mentioned that she has an upcoming spread in some major magazine. Can't remember witch one though. Vogue (???)... can't remember.
Katarzyna wasn't there, because she was working- modeling job.
Stacy-Ann had snagged a contract with some modeling agency.
I think Claire has also been signed.

so i just rewatched bits of the past few episodes on youtube, and it's pretty apparent that tyra's making a big deal out of "personality" - and early on in the cycle, too. usually, she whips out the personality card when they're down to 4 or 5 girls, to make the tougher eliminations.

but, in both this episode and the last (where clark got eliminated), tyra explicitly mentioned PERSONALITY as the reason that the judges (ie tyra) picked the girl who stayed in the competition.

joceyln has a better personality than clark - clark leaves.
sheena has a brighter personality than brie - brie leaves.

what bothers me about this is that the girls are really limited in how much of their personality they can show during judging. after a certain point, it becomes fake and contrived.

but i guess it's nice that tyra is being so upfront about how having a "personality" is critical to winning the title now.

at least the bitch is honest.

so - my assessment thus far: it's hard to say how this competition will go.

my gut is still going with "asian cycle" - which would explain why sheena's still around. if it is the "asian cycle," it'll slowly reveal itself in future episodes with the judges fawning and orgasming over all of sheena's photos, even the bad ones.

and the kicker will be some comment from NIGEL in judging, after the judges totally praise a clearly shitty photo of sheena, along the lines of "... and sheena has the personality that inspires me and makes me cum loads and that personality is what top model is all about."

we've already seen that pattern with BOTH C9 and C10 winners.

the only wrench in it all is sheena's boob-job - could be a dealbreaker. i really doubt CG or elite would be OK with that. seventeen, however, could easily turn that into a separate cover story - "ANTM winner Sheena: Why I Got Fake Tits and What a Mistake It Was."

thus far, the only girl i think we can count out is jocelyn - imo, she's only there for race-representation. nothing else about her reads ANTM or model - and unlike C9 saleisha, jocelyn has no tyra-connection to warrant a win.

the other two questionable chicks:
marjorie - a win from her would be a stretch because she's so timid.
elina - may not pick her on account of her very visible tattoos and her rough tough attitude.

but i'm not ruling those two girls out yet. they'll definitely make it far in the competition, i think.
plus, those two girls actually LOOK LIKE MODELS.

the rest of the girls - i think they're all pretty much strong contenders, including (as much as i hate to say) analeigh.

analeigh could be the "dark horse" - girl-next-door, all-american. and in the last episode, even paulina said that she was improving. plus, she's moved up in the call-outs pretty quickly (which i don't understand - and usually, when they keep a girl beyond any understandable reason, it's because she's the cycle winner).

plus, you know that CG, seventeen would totally be fine with someone like analeigh. elite, i'm sure, will grin and bear it (as they've done with all the past ANTM winners i'm sure).

but analeigh wasn't photog'd in amsterdam with those spoiler photos, so maybe she didn't make it abroad. which would be fine with me. like i said, sweet girl, but no value-added to the modeling world. but you could say the same for C9 saleisha, and yet she won her cycle.

anyway, it's still pretty tough to say.

if sheena didn't have that boob job, i would've been pretty certain that this would be the asian cycle.

*the fake tits make this cycle anyone's game, really.*

hey moe - yeah - good point about the paulina-hate for sheena (although it's not too horrible). paulina's been a bit more abrasive in her interactons with the girls this cycle.

but, you know - at the same time, the opinions of the judge in the first seat (janice dickinson, twiggy, and now paulina) usually have very little bearing on the ultimate winner.

the only exception was cycle 5.

THE JANICE CYCLES
cycle 1: janice liked shannon --> adrienne wins
cycle 2: janice liked mercedes --> yoanna wins
cycle 3: janice liked yaya --> eva wins
cycle 4: janice liked kahlen (blah!) --> naima wins

THE TWIGGY CYCLES
cycle 5: THE EXCEPTION: twiggy liked nicole (VOMIT) and nicole wins (double VOMIT)
cycle 6: twiggy likes joanie --> dani wins (BEST WIN EVER)
cycle 7: twiggy likes melrose --> caridee takes it
cycle 8: twiggy likes/favors renee/natasha --> LATINA (jaslene) wins
cycle 9: twiggy loves jenah but finally catches on to tyra's game and pretends to like chantal and saleisha/Tzone equally since jenah got 3rd place --> T-ZONE (saleisha) wins

THE PAULINA CYCLES:
cycle 10: paulina liked anya (whom i loved) --> PLUS-SIZED (whitney) wins

and, if we follow that pattern, this cycle could look like--
cycle 11: paulina likes mckey (hopefully she makes it to F2) --> ASIAN (sheena) wins

but the only problem: the asian boob job (bad prognosis for a sheena win)

so it could also very well be:
cycle 11: paulina likes mckey --> sam wins
cycle 11: paulina likes mckey --> analeigh wins

those are the three options (in my mind) thus far.
ideally however, this would be my hope:

cycle 11: paulina likes mckey --> MCKEY WINS!

but i've been let down two cycles in a row now, so i'm not holding my breath for mckey. besides, i'm OK with sam, sheena, and analeigh - they all seem cool.

regardless, judge #1 ("legendary fashion supermodel/icon") is just a prop when it comes down to the final winner of the show.

so there we go with another rehash. my bad if you find this ridiculous. i'm obviously bored right now.

antm is my major league baseball/marchmadness/superbowl.
i think i follow this show like a hetero would follow sports.

anyway, definitely with you on jocelyn being out. but i still think analeigh could work in there, somewhere.

sheena's boob job really makes it anyone's game.
