so i think the issue here is that there were two "blondes" last cycle (C10 Anya and Whitney), which would mean the final two this cycle - if going by historical precedent alone - should be two-non blondes.

if you think back, the last time there were two "blonde" chicks in F2 was C7 (of course, melrose, like C10 Whitney, wasn't a natural blonde).

the following cycle, C8, they had two "non-blondes" for the F2 (jaslene and natasha - who, as moe pointed out, is a natural blonde but turned brunette by tyrant).

so based on history, two blonde chicks F2 in C10 means two non-blondes F2 in C11.

tyra's made it clear, however, that this cycle, C11, is doing alot of "firsts" and unprecedented shit (no black girls overseas, all white final 5, hannah eliminated after the challenge, etc)

so it's still so hard to say - which makes this cycle all the more exciting (C9 and C10 were just way too predictable).

my gut, though, is that she'll follow historical precedent - two blonde F2 cycle 10, two non-blonde F2 this cycle.

which means Analeigh and McKey as F2.

now, as to who takes it - still up in the air.

that said, though, if tyra puts Sam in F2, the other girl (whether it is McKey or Analeigh) in F2 would have an easier time "winning" over Sam because Sam's walk is a nightmare.

so i guess i'm not ruling out anything.

the one thing i think i can put my money on, at this point, is sam NOT winning the competition. just can't see it happening given that they already had a "blonde" win last cycle.

kinda bothers me that some weaky-meeky chick like marjorie gets to lock lips with the guy. life can be unfair sometimes...

i still remember mark's hugo boss ads from the 90's - what a stud.

postANTM Mollie Sue's editiorial androgynous photos would put her to utter shame. Funny how these Top Model losers are doing much better than the actual winners.

i agree 100% - i think tyra did mollie sue a favor by not keeping her for too long, just so that the show wouldn't damage her reputation and she wouldn't forever be associated with antm during her modeling career.

mollie sue definitely encompasses androgynous high fashion.

^Yeah, the personality excuse is pretty aggravating. What was she supposed to do exactly? I actually liked Marjorie and was sad to see her go. And to lose to Sam is even worse. Sam -- ugh. I'll be happy with either McKey or Analeigh winning.

So far, so good. This cycle has been fairly easy to figure out and predict like all of the previous ones.

so i gotta admit - i definitely had the opposite experience than moe

this cycle has definitely been pretty hard for me to call - especially with all the loops tyra's thrown at us (the sheena/asian factor, no black chicks overseas, all-white final 5, etc ---> am i the only one who didn't see those things coming???).

and up to now, i'm still not sure who's going to take it. there are a lot of things suggesting a mckey win (it's also been said that the girl who wins is a favorite of both jays, which further confirms the mckey thing).

but, in the ACTUAL show itself (i'm not talking the gossip-mills or the rumors out there), there haven't been any red flags to point clear to a mckey win.

whitney and saleisha's wins you could see a mile away.
with whitney, there were all these weird exceptions in the show - no overseas-go-sees, group go-sees in new york, etc, to pave the way for a plus-sized win. plus, the fact that she stayed on despite sub-par photos was a big clue that she would be the winner.

with saleisha, there was the constant overpraise, the constant orgasming over her ceaselessly dull photos. same sort of thing that they did for whitney, although more exaggerated because saleisha's portfolio is, imo, far worse than whitney's.

but there haven't been any telling nigel comments nor have there been special exceptions in this cycle like they had in previous cycles to point to a clear winner.

so this cycle has kept me fairly surprised, in a good way - maybe i'm just a little dense, but as of now, i'm still not sure who will take the competition and how it will all go down (will they keep sam for the runway challenge? or will it be analeigh/mckey?)

definitely makes for a more exciting final episode.

if we go by the show's history:
analeigh will win

if we go by outside rumors:
mckey will win

a mckey win will definitely represent another "rogue" move on tyra's part to make this cycle unlike any other cycle ever.

why?

all of the past antm winners have been in the bottom two at least once before the final episode.
mckey has never been in the bottom two.

additionally, mckey doesn't represent a specific demographic who "needs antm to be a model."

remember, that was tyra's argument for the saleisha and whitney wins - they NEEDED antm to become models, whereas girls like anya, jenah, etc could probably book jobs based on their own merit.

mckey is a model in her own right, and therefore, if tyra picks mckey, she'll be breaking with "tradition" and choosing a real model for a winner, instead of catering to seventeen, covergirl, or a race/population demographic.

i mean, one could even argue that mckey is less a representative for CG or seventeen given her weird and quirky personality. mckey's edit thus far has been so-so, and she hasn't really been able to show much of a personality that alot of girls would identify with.

so picking mckey would be a HUGE departure on tyra's part (and may even upset alot of CG buyers and seventeen mag readers!).

an analeigh win, however, would be consistent with the wins for the past few cycles -

that is to say, analeigh represents the all-american, covergirl, seventeen-mag-reading girl next door. and this show, in its infinite wisdom and insight, has been able to transform that girl into a high fashion model.

in essence, it could be argued that analeigh is the girl who "needs ANTM to become a model" - thus propagating the show's underlying motives and crowning a girl who isn't the most modelesque of the bunch.

additionally, analeigh has been in the bottom 2 before (again, mckey has not), so that's consistent with the show's tradition for antm winners being in the bottom 2 at least once and further proof that analeigh might take it.

further support for an analeigh win comes from nigel barker.

nigel, in the past, has given undue praise to the ultimate winners (saleisha, whitney) of the show. in this cycle, he's given the MOST praise, as of the past few episodes, to analeigh and sam.

to wit, nigel's comments for analeigh from the panel at the go-see episode:

"it's interesting cuz i always think of you as a natural beauty - and you are..."
hmm. not sure if i'd agree with that so much...

"i think one can learn to love a look like analeigh's..."
double hmm... does this mean we're going to learn to love her look, just like we did saleisha's and whitney's?

bottom line, we've seen this nigel love before - it's called saleisha winning cycle 9 and whitney taking cycle 10.

nigel's comments for analeigh from the windmill photoshoot episode:
"this is probably the best picture in the bunch..."
which i actually agree with, but mckey's was fairly strong too.

but am i the only one who, seeing analeigh jumping in front of the windmills, totally had flashbacks of saleisha at the Great Wall of china, doing her little jumping routine at the photoshoot?

similar minds think alike?
(obviously lots of photoshopping for saleisha there - girlfriend was NOT jumping that high).

anyway, what the great wall photoshoot was for saleisha, the windmill photoshoot was for analeigh - exercises in jumping and finally showing some high fashion. (analeigh's windmill jumping photo, though - 100X better than saleisha's crap jumping photo at the great wall).

so these comments possibly suggest an analeigh win, but of course, there's no telling with this cycle. tyra's definitely thrown me for a loop thus far.

so if mckey wins, tyra will be officially breaking with tradition and crowning a high fashion real-model winner. and that'd be totally rad.

if analeigh wins, tyra will be continuing the tradition of crowning a girl who "needed ANTM to be a model" - and thereby confirm tyra's oh-so-incredible ability and knack for magically turning normal girls into models through this show we call ANTM.

and i think alot of CG fans and seventeen readers would love to see that happen. analeigh's definitely got a huge fan base at this point - and i think that's much to the credit of the people who edit each episode of ANTM.

Here are some interesting positives and negatives about this cycle's final 3.

ANALEIGH
Positives
-Featured pretty much in every episode and talked about her struggles alot.
-Narrated most of this cycle along with Sam the Ham
-Has a remarkable story (she was sold to an Arabian prince)
-Started off rocky and has improved consistently throughout the competition in the judges eyes (and mine as well)
-Both Nigel and Ann Shoket really love Analeigh
-Fits the prize package perfectly

this is great - moe, you've nicely listed out all the BIG reasons that analeigh should be, based on the show's history, the frontrunner coming into the finale episode.

the storyline, fitting the prize, and yes, nigel LOVES analeigh (nigel is usually the parrot who sides with the girl who ultimately wins the show).

Negatives
-None of the judges find her to be a natural beauty

see my previous post about nigel calling analeigh a "natural beauty" in the judging during the go-sees episode...

i think for all these reasons, an analeigh win SHOULD be expected, given past precedent and the past two winners.

she fits the bill for a traditional ANTM winner - great storyline, great edit, perfect for CG/covergirl, previously "unrepresented demographic": the girlnextdoor demographic.

so tyra has two options:
1) go rogue and pick the weird, high fashion chick that will LEAST likely please the main audience of the show (seventeen reading/CG girls) --> mckey wins
2) go traditional and follow past precedent and cater to the CG/seventeen crowd --> analeigh wins

has this cycle been predictable?
for the most part... hell, no.
ever since they went overseas, alot of my preconceived notions of the show went out the window.

so at this point, i still have NO IDEA who tyra will pick. which is the first time i've felt like this since... well, since cycle 5.

^ definitely agree - that outside of sam, mckey and ana are a huge upgrade from the previous two cycle winners.

and yeah - haha, i'm glad i'm not the only dude who noticed the similarities between analeigh's and saleisha's pic. shows just how much we've invested into this show...

so we'll see what happens - the rumor mills are overflowing with gossip about a mckey win.

and if mckey does win, i think that'll be tyra's way of really sticking us with this notion that this cycle is completely different from any others before -

and in a way, it sort of makes up for the predictable, pattern-following, agenda-driven shams of C9 and C10.

I absolutely hated the runway show. It was so fugly!

Mr. J's set design was so stupid and blah!! And the dresses McKey and Sam wore looked like something Princess Leah would wear.

Anyway, I'm glad McKey won. Despite Analeigh's elimination

Phew, thank god. That's all I have to say. Someone who actually looks like a model and who deserved to win actually won! That hasn't happened since cycle 6!

I wish Analeigh would've made final 2 instead of Sam. She had a nice walk. And I realized why I can't stand looking at Sam. She has no chin!

Tyra seriously needs to start having live finales. Because the whole thing was so anticlimactic. How long ago was it rumored that Mckey would win? Ugh, I mean Mckey is great, but part of me wishes a surprise Ana win would have happened. Ya know, something I haven't been expecting for weeks now?
And I agree with you guys. Awful awful runway. That shit just needs to be flat and straight. LOL

yeah- that was a pretty awesome finale. really great stuff.
as much as i wasn't really feeling analeigh as a model, i still felt bad for her - the judges definitely sabotaged her a little bit (her CG pic was not that bad).

and i have to say that both mckey and sam had pretty uninspiring runway walks. i think i remember that analeigh had a better walk than the two of them (from their blindfolded runway challenge), which is probably another reason they cut her 3rd.

anyway, good times overall. i thought the finale was so great that i had no reason to come here to post, speculate, or bitch/moan.
