Hey. I was thinking we should start a new Idol thread. And not just for American Idol but for all the foreign Idols as well.

Like right now, there are about 10 or so Idols going on. I'm currently following Australian and Norweigan Idol. And South African Idol will be starting very soon as well!

Any fans?

Well last night on Aussie Idol, they had Acoustic Night (why doesn't America have an acoustic night? They've been having it in Aussieland for about 2 seasons now and about 3 seasons in Canada).

Anyway, I swear this girl Natalie Gauci has to win. She performed 'Man In The Mirror' by Micheal Jackson (yes...THE Micheal Jackson) and it was flawless!

The only other one I follow is Australian Idol. They have some MEGA talent over there, those kids clean the floor with the American Idol kids, it's not even funny. Anyways, yeah Natalie Gauci definitely needs to win, she's amazing.

So, Natalie won! I'm so excited! She really deserved to win!

I was just thinking about the upcoming "American Idol" the other night (it'll premiere the second week of January).

And I was thinking how much I don't want Ryan Seacrest on it this season

Am I the only one that feels this way? Granted, he's easy on the eyes ... blah, blah, blah.

His ridiculously recycled and rehearsed attempts at "fighting" and going at it with Simon Fuller are so old and fatigued.

I know FOX loves the formula they have and they would never in a million years think about ditching him but do you think it's possible that maybe they'd ask him to tone it down some and quit hogging up all the space from the idols?

With HIM, Randy/Paula/Simon and those damned "guest mentors," we never ever get to see any contestants! :(

Well this year they have decided to not use as many guest performers and mentors. They are gonna focus more on the talent! I'm so excited about that. That's one of the reasons I love Aussie Idol so much.

They focus more on the talent and the contestants are so much more musical and artistic!

this year they will also be letting the idols that play instruments play their instruments...and apparently The Idol Tour will be combined with the So You Think You Can Dance tour as well

I hope they have better themes this year as well. Latin Night has been a disaster both seasons they've used it. And the Gwen Stefani theme was soo..screwed up it's not funny.

I'd love an acoustic night or Beattles night or internation hits night. Oh, an international Idol hits night would be awesome as well. Where they sing songs from Idols around the world!

Oh, wow, that's very interesting (the instruments part, NOT touring with the "So You Think You Can Dance" people ).

So future Keith Urbans and Alicia Keys' might come out of a forthcoming "American Idol" show?!? Awesome.

As for cutting back on guest mentors, I've heard that rumour, but on the other side of the coin, I've heard the mentors will be bigger than ever. Case in point: Aretha Franklin, who has been approached about doing it for years, said in last week's issue of Jet magazine that it looks like she'll finally be doing it this year.

And Whitney Houston will be dropping her new CD in February. Houston + new CD + sweeps week = big ratings.

So I dunno.

Just phase out Seacrest, AI. The decline in ratings and the ridiculously negative critical reaction (making fun of the mentally challenged, come on people!) the 2007 finale got should hopefully wisen the show up!

Well E! keeps on playing the interview they did with Paula telling them all this...and of course Seacrest is the host on E! so I don't think he'd put false rumors about his own show on another one of his shows. So I tend to believe that they'll be cutting back....but i'm sure they will still have the big names come out for a couple shows.

Canadian Idol starts one or two weeks after the AI finale and runs through September. Contestants were allowed to perform with instruments this season and in season two, the final six performed together all playing instruments, a first for any Idol show.

The problem with AI is that as long as it remains the most watched show in the US, FOX won't change a lot about it. Some of the themes blantantly derived so the guest celeb can whore their new CD have got to change.

I generally tape the show which means FF is an option at any given moment.

so i'm bored today and decided to check out Australian Idol on Youtube.....i'm in love w/ Matt Corby....he's so talented! I would scoop up his album when it comes out for sure! I love Natalie too...but I really like Matt! And I can't believe he is only 16!!! Crazy!

So, a quick update. There are like 6 Idols going on around the world including Pinoy Idol and Canadian Idol!

Australian Idol has just finished it's auditions and will be airing in August!

I've watched Idol clips from America, Canada, India, Pan-Arab, UK, Australia, and Philippines. Of all the Idols around the world, I think Pinoy Idol has the strongest singers.

I plan on watching more clips, feels like I'm missing out.

Really? I think they have some really strong singers but I think the American, Australian and Netherlands Idols have been easily some of the best around.

Oh and Norway! They have some great singers!
