Hey guys! Just wanted to go ahead and start this one so we "dance fans" can discuss this season! I think this season is going to be GREAT! There is a lot of promising talent on both the Guys and Girls side of the competition.... Let the discussion begin!

Here is a list of this seasons contestants and a little info on each!

AdéChiké Torbert - 23, Brooklyn, NY, Specialty: Contemporary

Alex Wong - 21, Vancouver, British Columbia, Specialty: Ballet

Alexie Agdeppa - 26, Rowland Heights, CA, Jazz/Contemporary

Ashley Galvan - 19, Visalia, CA, Lyrical

Billy Bell - 20, Palm Beach, FL, Contemporary

Cristina Santana - 24, San Diego, CA, Salsa

Jose "Full Deck" Ruiz - 23, Miami, FL, B-Boying

Kent Boyd - 18, Wapakoneta, OH, Contemporary Jazz

Lauren Froderman - 18, Phoenix, AZ, Contemporary Jazz

Melinda Sullivan - 22, Thousand Oaks, CA, Tap

Robert Roldan - 19, Thousand Oaks, CA, Contemporary

Any favorites so far? I know I have mine!

Adechike and Robert are my favs. Their dance was my favorite. And they were sexy as hell. Robert is gorgeous and Adichike's body is amazing.

My favorite girl is definitely Alexie. My least favorite is Cristina. She looked so lost compared to Anya.

Still not as enamored with Kent as others seem to be. And he didnt really stand out.

And still definitely not loving the all-star aspect. They should left it as it was.

i just wished that anthony burrell made it. then it would have been also. but its said that its only top 10 this year

I'm just happy that I can watch Neil all over again (back as an All-Star). He's so hot.

The dancers did a wonderful job last night on the preview show. Oh I am a great big Kent fan and will be. Not crazy about the hip hop guy. Felt greater dancers were let go just to have a place for hip hopper. I love Rob, too, but I am a Billy fan for a long time. he may not be the best looking of the group but he is so damn talented that I could hardly wait to see him again. I felt that Alex was given the better position in the dance as the middle (grown man) in the dance, but then Billy looks more like a boy than Alex. So good to see Ade again.

I love Lauren of the girls and feel she has a remarkable chance to win with that stage presence and personality. I think Melinda, the tapper will shine brightly.

Favorites? Right now Kent, Billy Bell and Rob. ( take a look at those hands on ROB. WHOA!) Melinda and Lauren of the girls, but I do love me some guys and they have some real sweet ones.

I am not whooping it up over the all stars because there are just so many great young dancers who need the break and they have had theirs.

That being said, I am happy to see Neil, Ade, and others like Allison and Lauren.

Now AdéChiké Torbert in his tights makes my tongue drag the floor.

My faves so far (in no particular order):

Guys: Kent, Robert, and Jose

Girls: Lauren and Alexie (I didnt like her at first but she is growing on me, I'm glad that she finally made it after trying out 4 times...)

I totally agree about Anthony but not in the aspect of Jose not desrving to be there. Anthony worked his ass off to get it. He should have been there instead of AdeChike....

But Jose deserved to be there...He SLAUGHTERED all the choreography that they threw at him. I really do think that he can make it far in this competition if he can just bring that "face" that Nigel is always talking about.

I really do hate this set up with the "all stars" but it does bring more of a fairness to the competition....

*sidebar* I hate all of the all stars EXCEPT Neill....omg...that SMILE!

I think Jose shouldnt be there. He looked so terrible compared to the all-stars during the hip hop routine. Granted the choreography wasnt my favorite. But he should have nailed it anyway.

I so agree. He got lost among the other three hoppers.

All in all I love the dancers and most of the all stars. This, as entertainment, is so much better than DWTS in every way. SYTYCD always has great seasons and great dancers who do seem to become pros as the program progresses. Great choreographers don't hurt either.

Sorry about Mia's Mom and I hope Mia's health is back on track.

Even though I often a sucker for nostalgia, I hate the All Star angle this season. As others said, there were many talented dancers who could have really used this break. I thought last night's preview show was awkward with the All Stars just standing there after the dance and not speaking. If a viewer is watching for the first time, the All Stars have no significance to them whatsoever. The preview show should have been longer to allow for more time to get to know them and what they are up to these days--how the show impacted their careers. I am hoping they do not spend time during the regular episodes to do this, as it will take away from the top ten, whose season it rightfully belongs to.

So, favorites? Lauren, Kent, Billy (who I think is weaker this season), and Cristina.

I have no draw to Jose at all; I loved Legacy, and they're hyping Jose as the heir to Legacy's b-boy throne. Nope. Not gonna fall for it.

And is anyone disappointed to see Comfort back? I can't believe she is an All Star--her name should be Comfort because she never seemed comfortable doing anything but her own style.

I'm a all-star hater too. I know all the girls and gays love Neil but there were hotter new guys that I would have liked to see instead. And even though I think Neil is straight he was usually so awkward with the girls whenever he tried to be sexy. The only time he wasnt was when he had those combative dances with Sabra.

I agree it seems like they are trying to make him into Legacy 2.0. He just doesnt have it. He needs to chop those cornrows. They look like they were done 2 months ago.

Comfort is the worst. But surprisingly this show doesnt have too many black girl dancers. And one thing about Comfort is at least I remember her. The only girls I recognize are her, Courtney, and Anya. I'm no fan of Twitch I would have preferred someone like Gev. I love Ade though. Especially after I saw his nude pics.

i think billy would had won last season if he was there and the year before that i wanted brandon to win. but i think all star is pretty cool. does anyone know wheres a clip of brandon and janette doing the punk vs. hip hop routine

Last year when they did two seasons in a row, they really screwed over the second season. If you notice, at least so far, the intro dancers in the credits are from Season 5. Season 5 got a tour, but they were saying Season 6 would not, or if it did it would be a shortened one. I'm assuming they didn't since Kathryn turned right around and joined the All Stars. I remember reading comments from Nigel that they had not planned for a second season in the same year, and that he wasn't pleased it would be cutting into the previous casts' reign.

Now this season they're messing it about once again. Why couldn't we have had a full summer season with all new dancers, and then do a full All Stars season in the fall? It would have been cool to see some of the past favorites from many seasons competing against each other--I would love to see Jakob from last season dance with Allyson or Heidi from season 2, or Katee from Season 3.

Ugh. I still love the damned show. I hope this change for change's sake doesn't hurt it this season.

You know, I really have tried to get into this show for the past few seasons, and I was impressed with a lot of the dancers/auditions, but this show is only 5% dancing; the other 95% is their EMOTIONS.

Seriously, this show should be called So You Think You Can Cry; ALL they do is cry. THEY cry, the JUDGES cry, the people's FAMILY cries. . .even while they're dancing, they cut to the judges emotional reaction.

I want to watch a dance show to see people DANCE, not to fucking cry every thirty seconds. I know it's emotional and means a lot to them. . .I get the point. Stop making that the main feature of the show.

Um, that's quite the exaggeration there. Virtually every episode once the show gets going has some terrific choreography and some great dancing. Do they get emotional at times? Sure, but then, I think it's not a bad thing to see people get emotional when experiencing the power of the arts as well as working hard to reach their dreams. It's certainly better than American Idol with their blank expressions and limited range, or most other talent-based shows where the main goal seems to just be winning. The people on SYTYCD show what it is like to truly love something and want to be the best at it.

As someone says every season, "It's so much more than dance."

^^No, now see, he's crying because he can't dance to save his soul.

Or act, for that matter.

I guess no one else watched. lol

I wasnt too thrilled with Billy Bell or his goatee. Him being on this season just feels wrong.

I know everyone is in love with Kent. But I find his "aww shucks", country bumpkin routine so annoying. And I cant stand those dopey faces he makes.

Alexie is my favorite girl but she did sorta Mickey Mouse-up that hip hop routine.

BTW How hot was Adam Shankman in the 90s? Owwww!

And finally, I'm in love with Robert. I know he isnt a white boy next door or straight-acting, but he's gorgeous and a great dancer.
