In a knuckle dragging attempt to once again assert State's Rights and stomp on the possibility of equal rights for all....one of the most infamous shit hole states in the US has taken the low road again.

(Reuters) - The Alabama Supreme Court ordered probate judges on Tuesday to stop issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in apparent defiance of the U.S. Supreme Court, underscoring the depth of opposition to gay matrimony in the socially conservative state.

The 7-1 ruling comes roughly three weeks after U.S. District Judge Callie Granade's decision overturning Alabama's ban on gay marriage went into effect after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to put it on hold.

Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever.......

I assume that Miscegenation laws will be up for review next?

How do Americans put up with such a basket case state as a part of the Union?

I keep hoping that they will secede like they always threaten to do,...and take Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kansas and South Carolina with them.

If that doesn't work out...I would love for California to secede...maybe take Washington, Oregon and Hawaii with us. Maybe Canada could adopt us.

Free State of Tornadovania or Peoples' Republic of Quakeland.

Could work.

They still have trouble with the civil rights movement, and that was over 50 years ago! What do you expect.

I'm from a somewhat homophobic place, so I feel terrible for all the gay people who live in Alabama. I know what it's like, and it's a horrible feeling. Still, I'm sure the cities are much more progressive and accepting, just like where I'm from.

Well..what do you expect from those people who thought it's ok to own slaves because the bible told them so?

Alabama? Ewwwww.

It just seems so petulant. The US Supreme Court refused their stay so now they're kicking and screaming as loud as they can. It's quite appalling.

I don't know who's harder to deal with, redneck northerners or southerners. I keep to myself.
