Oh my god this scares me

Don't be afraid, it's not like they know how to read flight manuals, so they can learn to fly jets into a building or something.

But they can learn to campaign at a young age and grow up to control the vote.

Ha! It was kinda ironic to see Ted Haggard in that considering he admitted to buying meth as well as being accused of having gay sex...and yes, that was quite scary.

I like the five year old that says, 'He was looking for more out of life..."

Yeah, the poor bastard was up to six Oreo's a day. ;)

And *why* do all the boys have ponytails ?

Oh yeah, makes it easier for the pastors to find something to hold on to.

Did you really? Did the movie live up to the trailer? It all seems rather frightening to me truth be told.

It did live up to the trailer in my mind, but if you're expecting some kind of exposé, you'll be disappointed. I thought it was fairly even handed.

The people who run the camp are scary, but they do believe that what they're doing is for the good of humanity. Their passion for the movement is a bit shocking. It's easy to joke about the movement and think of Evangelists as a bunch of fools with bibles, but that's just not accurate.

Mike Papantonio's in it, offering a different Christian perspective. I was glad the filmmakers included him, rather than make it a "let's hate all Christians" kind of movie. It was a good reminder that Evangelical Christians are not the only kind.

I really do recommend it. I try to stay updated on the Evangelical movement. It's frightening how much power they have.

Sadly I was like that, :( you know loved jesus and all that crap, listened to those kind of people hung around them, went to camps like that. but then Chatholicism snatched me back  the lesser of two evils

Yeah, I went to all of 7th grade in that.... We actually had a gym teacher that stood before our class the day before spring break and announced, with the most dire of expression, that he wouldn't be surprised if this was our last Easter on this earth, since Jesus was coming back and second now.... (Oh yeah, and by the by our parents were going to burn in Hell if they didn't believe as well..... )

Well, at 12 this 'announcement' scared the living SHIT out of me...
(Mommy and Daddy are burning for eternity when all I wanted to do was color eggs ! )

These days, however, I suspect I would have a few choice comments for 'coach'.

Even as bad as that was, we never prayed to cardboard cut-outs of the presidents.....Which in itself is SO disturbing, I'm not even sure where to begin.

I hate to bring logic into this debacle, but let's think about it for a second.

This mentality basically boils down to, ''It's US against THEM", which is silly by it;s very conception in that one side is not going to 'out phanatise' the other....

It's all just jacking off in the wind, really... Hoping our jizz is the one that lands on the 'holy ground'.

The bottom line has always been, "Get to the children, first."

Just ask Mark Foley.

A friend of mine who grew up in Wyoming ina crazy religion, finally left to go to college in San Fran and he's loving his life out there and being gay etc. Incredibly smart, too.

So I'm assuming we're talking about Jesus Camp?

Anyway, he was reluctant to see this because he thought it's be a lot of elitist liberals laughing at these people with the 'we're better than you' mentality.

But he saw it with some friends and said that it was pretty objective and that it was everything that he had seen growing up.

And he also adds that people like to dismiss speaking as tongues as a minority practice and it's definitely not.

He also said that he really identified with the kid that was saying he had doubts and who was faking it when they spoke in tongues and prayed because he used to be that kid.

I really felt bad for that kid. He was so young and conflicted. I hope he gets out.

I think it's funny that Hassert is in that trailer now that it's come out that he's got a thing for the cock sucking and the meth.

If they're gonna start Christian movements then we should start creating secular movements to counter this. Cos I don't think there is any obstacle that will prevent them from gaining absolute political power in the future. The constitution will be replaced by the bible and a new Christian theocracy will be created. In Britain we had a puritan Christian republic in the 17th century but it was so god damn awful that we asked the king to come back to take the throne!

One of the things I'm proud to be European... no mass psychosis here...

There is a growing movement to amend the constitution so that it more closely matches the Old Testament.

I think that that video makes it look a lot creepier than it really is, i went to a church camp a couple times (which i hated) but i didn't find the people to be as freakish as they seem on camera. but then again i was the weird possessed kid who cut himself.;)

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my comment, I'm sorry. I'm just saying that from experience and this video only made me remember what I've seen in some states...

I remember this guy Beau in Denver who came from a religious family and he was gay. He was 17 when I met him. Anyway, he was convinced that God hates him and that he will go to hell for being gay and he was devastated that he had desires towards men. I was trying to tell him that being gay is the way God created him but he'd say that he is going to hell because God hates all gay people...
