Hmmmm I think they need to start giving each child a Bullet Proof Vest, and a helmet ... of course , property taxes would sky rocket .... What the hell; at least our kids would be somewhat safe ..
 
MINCO, Okla. -- One of Oklahoma's nominees for state superintendent of education has proposed a unique idea for protecting students from outbreaks of violence.

Bill Crozier, a Union City Republican going against incumbent Democrat Sandy Garrett, said he believes old textbooks could be used to stop bullets shot from weapons wielded by school intruders.

If elected, he said he would put thick used textbooks under every desk for students to use in self-defense.

1. It probably would be difficult to find any kind of text book in Minco, Oklahoma, new or used.

2. Will a book that is big enough to stop me getting shot in the dick and balls be big enough to stop a head or chest shot?

(I read articles like this and the first thought I have is "Only in America!")
 
^This is a new paradigm for Oklahoma, they're used to burning books, not shooting them or using them as shields. They need a little time to make the adjustment, is all! ;)
 
Hey Hey lets stop the nay saying. Books were issued to our troops in lieu of body armour in Iaq. Look at the results we only have the same losses after two years that were inflicted in the first day of the TET offensive.

Oh yeah that result sucks. We must only have death on the other side, no loss to us, nothing is that important, nothing is worth fighting for to the death.

I've never seen those ID text books but am afraid they may be a bit thin ..... what with the obvious lack of evidence they have to justify their case. :rolleyes:

Anyone without a felony record can have access to a Kalashnikov.
In some places, having a superintendent with his own AK might not be a bad idea -- if students pull guns, there's already someone in the building ready to respond.

<Oops -- need another superintendent.....>

It's nice to see someone trying to think outside the box, but it makes me wonder what the desks there are made of -- wood stops bullets better than texts, generally, unless he means for the students to use texts as mobile cover. But in that case, he ought to just propose making ROTC mandatory, because unless you have a clue how to move and hold that text between you and the shooter, you may as well just turn your back and run.

Here's another idea for him to ponder: teach them all to climb inside their lockers and shut the door.... :p
