Re: Oh My Lord, is 'Childen of Man' a Fucking Fantastic Film !

it truly is.

i saw it initially in the theater the week it was released and remember coming out of it just amazed. great story, solid performance from everyone (i was really, really amazed with michael caine)... brilliant film.

That movie was totally underrated. It deserved more awards/credit than it got.

Yeah, it was a very good film indeed. The tracking shots (long shots) were really well done and cool, especially the one when Clive Owen's character is dodging bullets while finding a way into the building.

I think it's very underrated as well.

I really liked it. I was totally surprised and the movie kept me glued to my seat. Good film!

Yes, they were nothing less than amazing.

The one with....well, I don't want to give too much away....The one with the ping pong ball, let's say, was drop dead brilliant.

How the director staged all of that is beyond me.

I can't rant enough about this film, guys.

See it.

yep that movie was a very positive suprise for me as well. a friend of mine dragged me to the cinema to see it because of clive owen (of whom i never heard of until that point) and since we have a kinda similar taste in men i trusted him that it would be at least worth the eye candy .. but damn .. the whole movie gave me the shivers and it's my favourite movie from last year!

Re: Oh My Lord, is 'Childen of Man' a Fucking Fantastic Film !

i loved this movie!!!

i thought i would hate it because they made clive owen's character was straight in the movie.

i still don't doubt that they did this to make the character more acceptable to straight audiences; but the movie didn't get much fanfare; so the way i look at it: the movie producers reaped what they sowed.

Such a good film, and halfway through one of the biggest "OMG, No they didn't just ________________" moments in recent memory.

Is this the one where it's the future, and the women of the world cannot reproduce anymore?

Meh. I thought it was overly violent and kind of boring.

Ares, you probably went into it expecting too much.

Anyway, LOVED the movie when I seen it, is one of the best I've seen.

What a fantastic film! Extremely underrated as are all well-made sci-fi movies.

This movie is truely an amazing piece of film making. I read about the new techniques that they used in the film and they took my breatch away. I left the theater in somewhat aw.

Another movie to consider is the Constant Gardener.

I noticed that, too...

The 'in the car shots' looked amazing. It wasn't the usual green screen technique, but something totally new...

I'm not sure what, exactly... But, two days later and I'm still dazzled by the whole thing...

Actually I had never even heard of it and had no expectations going in.

I didn't realize that new fliming techniques were used in production. Maybe next time, if I were to look more closely, I would appreciate it more.

I do admit though I am not really a fan of dreary future flicks to begin with, so that probably had a lot to do with my dislike of the story.

The new thing was that they didn't cut away. They gave you a 360 view of the action. Like he was getting shot at and backing up the car, than they suddenly pan the camera to his side and you see a giant crowd of people running at the car.

Let me get a article that better explains this.

I couldn't find anything, but I know it is new.
There are, Mr. Cuarón suggests in “Children of Men,” different ways of waking up. You can either wake up and close your ears and eyes, or like Theo you can wake up until all your senses are roaring. Early in the film Theo and the restlessly moving camera seem very much apart, as Mr. Cuarón keeps a distance from the characters.

Every so often the camera pointedly drifts away from Theo, as it does with the dead policemen, to show us a weeping old woman locked in a cage or animals burning on pyres. In time, though, the camera comes closer to Theo as he opens his eyes — to a kitten crawling up his leg, to trees rustling in the wind — until, in one of the most astonishing scenes of battle I’ve ever seen on film, it is running alongside him, trying to keep pace with a man who has finally found a reason to keep going.
