Oh My Lord, is 'Children of Man' a Fucking Fantastic Film !

The director Alfonso Cuaron is amazing. He did such an incredible job with Children of Men. He's also done Y Tu Mama Tambien and the 3rd Harry Potter film (my personal favorite).

Yeah, Children of Men is hands down one of the most underrated films in recent memory.

A bit late for this post; but I do have to agree with you.

Children of Men was awesome, despite my having to sit in the VERY front row of our local cinema when I went with friends to go see it.

I'm disappointed the b/f doesn't appreciate/like the movie, but there's not much I can do about that, I suppose.

But yes, more to the point, it is a very brilliant film that does have some wonderful moments and some delightful performances (Hippie-Caine anyone?)

I highly recommend it, as after I saw it, it jumped instantly into my top 3 movies of all time, which is not an easy feat.

It was a little out there for my tastes, but i really really liked the acting in it

i expected more of a SciFish tone to it than there was so i would have been ok with "out there." i don't know why, but i just didn't like it. i have found that i tend not to like british type movies. :( sorry.

i'm glad you guys liked it though.

The new thing was that they didn't cut away. They gave you a 360 view of the action. Like he was getting shot at and backing up the car, than they suddenly pan the camera to his side and you see a giant crowd of people running at the car..
The technique wasn't that new...It's a variation on Dogme 95, where you simply don't do any editing. If not for the overlong shots, it would have been a great movie, but they needed to edit out about 20-30 minutes...

In my opinion, the best part in the movie was..

SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT.
The text is in white, so highlight it to view.

.. when the lead actor/actress were walking out of the building with the baby, with people just standing and staring(in the building(which was being shot up) people were allowing themselves to be hit by bullets, out of shock), and as they walked down the stairs, past the soldiers, out the building, and through the small army of Brit soldiers, who stopped firing their weapons, with several praying, but for only a moment, after which the terrorist's inside the building launched a rocket or grenade outside, which resumed the fighting.

To understand what I'm talking about, you NEED to watch the movie.

Thanks to the tips, I just watched it this past weekend. This one slid under the radar last year. It's the best film I've seen in a long time. I'm puzzled why it didn't win many awards. The "single-shot" filmed sequences really made a difference. Nearly the entire movie was as intense as a movie can get.

I trully loved this film, and I'm happy to know the vast majority of you guys did too.

I'm always totally supportive of mexican artists (being mexican myself), but Alfonso Cuarón is trully a favorite of mine, well over that fact. His rendition of the 3rd Harry Potter book was the best of the series, IMO.

I liked the characters and, like many of you, those long sequences. One of the best was [SPOILERS]
the car scene many of you have cited. When they (NOOOOO!) kill Julianne Moore and the camera just keeps rolling...
[/SPOILERS]

A great movie, I highly recommend it!
