This will make you as hard as Gibraltar.

It is... stuffed cabbage week here on the farm!

That special time when we bring down the finest, juiciest cabbages...make our special filling and lay up an entire year's supply of delicious, delicate, stuffed cabbages.

This year though...the cabbages have been smaller. So the stuffed cabbages will have a higher % of cabbage to stuffing than in years past.

This year we are making them with out super sweet and divine tomatoes out of our garden.

I am almost jizzing in anticipation.

My mom doesn’t make them much any more they’re too much work for her. The Hungarian mom and pop diner that I used to get them from closed when mom died. They were the only ones that even came close to my mom’s and I’ve never found pierogies that even come close to theirs.

I’ve made them once. I do the deconstructed thing and just make a mess in a casserole dish. The kid doesn’t like cabbage. I’ve just started to get her to eat onions and tomatoes.
 
There's one Surgeon we all hate working with during surgery, he farts non stop, and fuck knows what he eats but it's BAD .. I don't think anyone would survive a Dutch oven with him.
 
I've promised more than a few people stuffed cabbage. Mine are pretty basic although I do enjoy a bit of a sweet and sour tomato sauce on mine. Kinda Creole-ish with some brown sugar.

But I'm happy any way I get them :drool:

There is a semi famous Polish store in Wallington NJ called Adam's that makes homemade stuffed cabbages but give you very little sauce.

A lot of the customers use Campbell's tomato soup mixed with a little brown sugar and apple cider vinegar and water to create a sauce that they pour over the stuffed cabbage and bake in the oven.

It's not bad.
 
I take it that a stuffed cabbage is like a stuffed green pepper?

With stuffed cabbage you peel off and blanch(to make them pliable)the larger leaves of a cabbage and stuff them with a ground meat and rice mixture. And then roll them up and bake them in a tomato sauce.

Delish :)

We usually use it as a liner for the bottom of a baking pan so my beautiful stuffed cabbage bottoms don't burn in the oven. And you can eat some of it as well.
