I once read that of all those executed in the Place de la Revolution (once Place Louis XV, now the Place de la Concorde), she was the only one to resist and had to be dragged screaming to the scaffold. The others chose to approach their end with noble stoicism. These last words--if true--would seem to contradict what I previously read.
